Literary Friday for Downton Fans!

I know we’ve all missed ‘our’ Downton Abbey this summer. (we’ve been watching the DVDs)

The cover and title of this book caught my eye and guess what?

It is GOOD!!!

While we Were Watching Downton Abbey

by Wendy Wax.

The concierge of a condo building invites the residents to view the Downton Abbey shows and the book shows how friendships form and what a difference it made in their lives. Lots of references to Downton Abbey makes it even more fun.

It’s an easy read and positively delightful! I can’t wait to read more books by this author! She is a beautiful lady, born right here in Florida!

Do you have a good book you would recommend this week? And are you anxious for the new season of Downton Abbey?

It doesn't return for us until after Christmas right? Not sure about that. Anyway, I do look for spoilers all fall on the Brit sites so that is my guilty pleasure. This author sounds like a gal who knows how to take advantage of a popular program. Glad that you enjoyed the book. Ahhh...so many books to read...so little time.

This book sounds interesting, Diane. I have to watch Downton on line as we don't have the station that carries it. I'll look forward to it's return.

Sounds great and I'll probably love anything related to Downton Abbey! I can't wait to see DA return to TV! Does anyone know when would the return be? Enjoy your weekend in beautiful Flo.

I can hardly WAIT for the return of Downton Abbey. It's really difficult not to look online to see what's happening, once it airs in Britain in the fall...

I love Downton Abbey and think I might have to re-watch some seasons soon. I will read this book as I like this author. I've read several of her books and enjoy her easy writing and the friendships she weaves into her stories.

Your link is there! For some reason it directs you to a different page....it did it last week, too!

Thank-you for linking-up!

This sounds delightful and it reminds me of The Jane Austen Book Club!

They've started advertising the new series here and are showing the whole lot beforehand so it can all be relived again. Can't wait and I'm also planning a trip to the real place to see EVERYTHING! Very excited! xx

I have the DVDs right here on my desk to watch inbetween other chores!
Our local PBS station did a recap during fundraiswer week and got me all excited about the series return. I could not wait and had to get a "fix."
This sounds like a good book but also a great idea for watching parties!

Brit geek that I am, I have not caught on to Dowton Abbey. I just finished Philipa Gregory' s trilogy The White Queen, The Kingmakwer' Daughter, and The Red Queen, now a Starz mini series. In addition, I just finished The White Princess. They are historical fictions a bout Edwaqrd IV, Richard III, and Henry VII. Very good reads.

Oh how FUN! I love modern pop culture reference books, and I, for one, desperately needed someone to cry on at the end of the last season of Downton Abbey. *sniffle*

I will have to see if my library has it! I just posted not too long ago about a series that I found called "Lark Rise to Candleford" that was getting me through my Downton withdrawal time :)

I have to admit I've only seen Downton Abbey once and that was when visiting my daughter. I prefer reading over TV and will check to see if my library has that book. It looks good!

Wishing you a Happy Pink Saturday!

Sounds like a wonderful book, thanks so much for the review. I definitely need to take some time off to do nothing but read. I miss that!

Thank you for the recommendation! I confess that I missed the first two seasons of the show, but then decided to "catch up" once I heard all the buzz in blogdom. So I ordered the DVDs and held my breath to see if DH would like the series. He enjoyed it immensely! LOL, I knew I would and was delighted with the show. So we are now both hooked on the continuing series and can't wait until the next season rolls around. They go by too fast!

I've never watched that show!
But I hardly ever watch any television anyway.

I just finished reading a book this morning called
'Eva moves the furniture' by Margot Livesey.
Ive had it for about 10 years and for some reason never read it.

it was a wonderful book!!
pretty light read, a little spooky too.

hope you get a chance to take a look:)

I am totally ready for Downton Abbey to begin! I will check out this author and specifically this book.
I would highly recommend a book called Saving Saffron Sweeting here is the link on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_12?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=saffron%20sweeting&sprefix=saffron+swee%2Caps%2C211
I was actually sad when I came to the end and had to let the characters go!
Let me know what you think if you get to it... it's really inexpensive if you do the Kindle thing.
Hugs,
Beth P
