The duck.....
I saw the duck on Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, GA and couldn't wait to take the camera from my hubby to snap this photo. Doesn't it look just like a little duck on the beach?
Driftwood Beach was very unique with whole trees twisted and washed on the shore.
And the sand dollars that were alive? They were very dark red on top and underneath they were swirls of dark red and dark blue. And yes, they do have little legs (minute spines) all around the edges to help them move through the sand. Read about them in Wikipedia HERE !
We saw them in the water and burrowed all the way under the sand.
This one was making a happy face!
Here's the painting that Jan thought would look perfect above my shells. Isn't it amazing!
It's by the artist Jennifer Markes. Thanks for sending the photo, Jan....could you put the real thing in the mail tomorrow? heeheehee!
Did you ever see art that was what you see in your head? If I was a real artist....this is what my art would be! Visit Shirley's Illustrations HERE and tell me what you think! I feel like I am in my favorite children's book when I spend time on her blog!
Have a wonderful week! It's cool here! How's the weather at your house?

I need your address. Seriously, I have looked at it long enough and I am sure that it would be perfect for the spot you want it in. The dementions are 24 1/2 x 29 1/2 framed. You will have to frame it though. I can send it in a tube. Do you really want it?
I would love for you to have it. I have been looking at it for oh maybe 10 years. I need something new to look at.
It snowed last night here and we have 3 more inches. The sun is shining this morning, but it is only about 25 degrees. When are you coming back to NC :-).
Hugs,
Penny
Yeah, when are you coming back to NC? We need you to bring some warmer temps! =) And that FL sunshine!
G'morn, your pictures are beautiful.
Happy Valentine's
Have a loving weekend.
Hugs, Marydon
Now I see it! Great. I'm off to visit your friend's blog. It looks as if it will be very colorful and cheering.
Oh, my! I am so honored that you mentioned me in this post..many thanks for such sweet words! I am so glad that we've "met" via this blogworld..I appreciate your kindness. It is my goal to illustrate children's picture books, so I am very much encouraged by your visits!
By the way, I love the duck! Isn't it wonderful to "see" things in nature that just are so apparent but could easily be overlooked. And wow, I'm going to show my girls the seastars, as they just love them. We never get to see them "whole" here in California.
And what a LOVELY painting by Jennifer. She has a wonderful ability with color. I love that fish!
Hugs to you - Shirley
Hi Diane! I'm loving very much your pictures during these days, they're so colourful and make me dream of summer!
Happy weekend xxxx
Great photos....and yes, it does look like a duck!
I love that painting! Gorgeous colors!!
Your beach souveniers are perfect...the duck is so funny!
I'm chiming in with the other NC ladies to ask you to please bring some warm weather with you when you come home. :-)
The duck is adorable and I love sand dollars and found the info you provided to be very interesting. I never knew they had little legs. Did the "smile" happen from the sand dollar walking on those legs?
I love combing the beach for found treasures. Best of all I like to find rocks that have holes drilled into them by the water. Very special indeed!
Hi Diane! Fabulous photos! I've never seen a sand dollar alive before. Love the painting your friend suggested. I agree, it would look perfect with your collection of goodies. Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Hugs,
Lisa :)
Hi Diane! You take the most beautiful pictures! You really have a good eye! Happy Valentine's day, Sweetie! xoxo Paulette
