When you love the ocean as much as I do, you are interested in everything that goes on.
We met the sweetest group of people on Myrtle Beach last week and walked over to see what they were doing.
They were digging for shark’s teeth.
They explained that the beach undergoes a beach replenishment about once every decade and when it was done a few years ago, they have had great success at digging for shark’s teeth. They showed us some huge teeth they had collected over the years. At the time we didn’t have our camera with us but later my hubby came along and took a few pics with his phone.
It was so much fun to talk to them and watch them dig and sift the sand. They were friendly and gave us a lot of facts and trivia on shark’s teeth and fossils. We were surprised when they showed us the BIG pile of shells they had uncovered and told our granddaughter she could dig through them and have whatever she wanted! That really made her day (and mine, too)!
And then later, we were walking around and my hubby found a shark’s tooth. It wasn’t as big as what they were finding but he offered it to them. They were nice enough to tell us to keep it! Our FIRST!
Have you ever seen a shark’s tooth? I looked up info on them but didn’t really find a good site to link to. But I did find out they are white when they are in the shark’s mouth and turn black when they come out! Interesting!

I found a bunch of sharks teeth 2 years ago when I was visiting Kaybe. It was so much fun!

What wonderful fun. We found some shark teeth once when we were at Hilton Head Island, but mostly our girls wanted to collect sand dollars. After they dried out, my mother, who was an artist, painted scenes on them for the girls. A lovely keepsake of a beautiful vacation, XOXO

What??! That is so cool! And were they finding shells buried down that deep too? Did they do anything in particular with the teeth?
I thought searching for shells at the beach was fun, but looking for shark teeth would be SO exciting! What a great way to keep little kids occupied when they get bored too. That tooth is the ultimate souvenir from your trip!
