I feel very nostalgic this week for more reasons than I can share so I decided to scan some old photos of ‘my barn’. This was my Dad’s place. I blogged a little about it yesterday if you want to look at that post HERE. My Dad’s gone now and I don’t own this old tobacco barn any longer but I have my memories…and a few old photos! And the barn still stands!
It’s hard to even know that there IS a barn when it is summertime.
The mulberry tree is in bloom in this photo.
And now a view of it in Autumn.
To really see the barn…
winter is best!
(location…the mountains of Western NC near the TN border)
It’s not easy to look back sometimes.
It can be bittersweet.
I’m joining Barn Charm HERE !
Enjoy your week and Happy Thanksgiving
to my family and friends here in the US!

What a beautiful old barn and cabin (other post). Love the pictures in the snow. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. It is hard thinking of those loved ones that have passed.
happy thanksgiving! What a beautiful spot and beautiful memories, I love that you have captured it in all the seasons,
Beautiful, Diane. And I agree that it is sometimes painful to look back. Sad to see a time past, when you have so many memories of what was.
Those photos would look so pretty all together in one frame. What a happy memory.
Yes, so often looking back is bittersweet...we have to concentrate on the sweet.

It's beautiful Diane. I love the winter photos too. I hope it stands tall for many years to come.
Very beautiful pics. Reminds me somehow of the movie "Cold Mountain"
What a wonderful old barn tucked into the hills like that and part of your heritage and memories. Yes, looking back can be bittersweet...we need to focus on the sweet and let the bitter roll away with the years. I'm glad that you shared this with us!
I love all your images of your Dad's barn, especially those taken during the winter-time. Beautiful pics, beautiful hopefully beautiful memories!!
Well, I agree...the winter scene is best- and so pretty with the snow on the roof.
What a dear old barn. It is sad, somehow, to see them ravaged by time, isn't it, because you know that one day your Dad stood proud and strong in that barn and looked around and thought, "What a good barn". xo Diana
Lovely photos in all the different seasons. Definitely an old barn!
These photos of the tobacco barn are just wonderful. Especially, the winter scenes. Oh my, these must evoke wonderful memories ;-)
You found this beautiful barn in autumn and you came visit it later.

I loved seeing it through the different seasons. I really enjoyed the winter scenes best. Guess I'm in the mood for snow. Have a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving.
It's a wonderful barn, and seeing it in all seasons is great!
Love the barn pictures. The one int the winter is really neat. There is an old barn in the field behind us, but not as neat as yours.
I bet you have a lot of memories about that place. You ought to tell us the history sometime. sandie
Beautiful barn, and I'm so glad it's still standing! I loved seeing it in the different seasons.

Each season has it's beauty, but winter is the best of all. Thanks for sharing your memories.
These are wonderful shots of the beautiful old barn! I really love the last shot of it in the snow. And I really understand how memories can be bittersweet. As someone else said, just concentrate on the sweet.
Happy Thanksgiving!
These are neat pictures, and I bet they do conjure up some great memories for you. This barn reminds me of one that was behind my papaws house in Kentucky. I like the summer picture the best! Even though the barn is mostly hidden by the tree, it's just a beautiful photo...and kind of mysterious.
What a lovely barn and wonderful to see it through the seasons! I imagine it must be really bitter sweet looking at it but thanks so much for sharing it with us. BTW i like all the photos but the snow one best of all. Joan
I'm feeling sentimental this Thanksgiving too. It's been a year of significant loss at our house. Your barn pictures...especially the snow covered one are simply magical. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
These are beautiful, my friend. This time of year always makes me feel nostalgic, too. I hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving week.
Hugs,
Laura

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. take care. ( :
Bitter-sweet nostalgia, thinking of you.
beautiful shots!
The winter shots are really gorgeous! Wonderful memories.
The last shot would be a perfect Christmas card...just lovely!
You are fortunate that you have pictures to remember it by. My grandfather had a barn in back of his house, but they tore it down when I was 9. I remember when they did it because my dad dug a pit all the way to China to bury all the junk that they took out of the barn, then they burned it and we had a big weinie and marshmallow roast with all the kids in the neighborhood. I wish I had some pictures of it. Thanks for jarring a memory for me.
I bet that your father was wonderful! What a beautiful barn. I love old tobacco barns. Happy Thanksgiving!
Love that winter shot!
Hello Diana,
I just love this post. Right now my hubby is in TN with his side of the family for Thanksgiving. I am with my side of the family at home. This is the first Thanksgiving since his Dad passed away and we thought it was important that he be there.
We lived in Knoxville for 13 years and the beautiful barn photos remind me of so many memories...long drives in the country and trips through the mountains of NC. It's all so spectacular...so peaceful...so serene!
Thank you for your with and without snow comparison. Ahhhh....Just amazing!
Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving.
Carolynn xo
Lovin' your barn photos...you could put together a pretty barn coffee table book!
