This is my favorite book to bring out in the Fall.
The full name is Rugged Hills, Gentle Folk, My Friends and Neighbors in the Big Pine Valley by William J. Weber.
It is about a community in the mountains of NC near where I lived a few years ago and reminds me so much of the mountain people I knew and the land I lived on.
I was going to do a mosaic but realized that the cover of the book and even the pages of the book were mosaics in themselves!
I had to look twice at the little cabin in this photo!
Here it is up close!
And this was my Dad’s!
I’m joining Mary for Mosaic Monday

What a sweet cabin in the woods your dad had...does he still? Very pretty book that anyone would enjoy. I love a picture book to this day!
I can see why you like to have this book out. The photography is stunning. I had a hard time seeing the cabin at first. What a beautiful setting and the cabin is nearly the twin of your fathers. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Hugs
Beautiful books with amazing photos. Fall is so glorious! hugs, Linda
wow it is truly looks like a wonderful book.
have a lovely day x
Sigh. Now there is Helen's dream come true - a log cabin in the hills in autumn. Thank you for sharing.
The cabins could be one and the same. Beautiful pictures. Smiles to you, Susie
That book is beautiful, Diane. I loved seeing all of the Fall pictures, and that does look like your Dad's cabin! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. laurie
I love books like that. And I'd love to explore that old cabin!
What a beautiful book and even more special because it belonged to your Dad. I love it- xo Diana
I miss being in the foothills. My family is from Southern Ohio so Fall was always beautiful And how great that your Dad's cabin was in a book that will be seen for years to come by folks wanting to enjoy the thrill and beauty of the Mountains. What a treasure you have there.
Hi there namemate! Happy Sunday! If only we have 4 seasons here in Asia, I would have fall in love with fall too. I love the colors and the idea that it will be Christmas soon.
Thank you for the words of wisdom you left in my blog. I appreciate it. Wishing you a great week ahead namemate!
That looks like a wonderful book! I can see why it is a favorite!
Much of that scenery is like the mountains where we love to drive thru to look at the pretty colors in the fall. My Mom's grandparents had a cabin in the mountains near a lake and that is where my parents spent their honeymoon. They were so young they couldn't afford anything else and this place was free. The cabin was very rustic but various family members used to love going there. I went there once but just to see it and the surroundings. It was similar to the ones in your book. Just wanted to stop by to wish my very good friend a Happy Thanksgiving week!! Today is my birthday so we are going to one of my favorite places for dinner this evening. I am sure I will eat too much and then there is Thanksgiving in a few days...... Anyway, hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!! ------Shannon
Beautiful photos of a magical place--I can just imagine having Thanksgiving dinner in your dad's cabin. Happy Thanksgiving, Sis, XOXO
Love that book. Gorgeous pictures. I grew up in eastern KY and while we didn't have the mountains of NC. We did have some very pretty and rather big hills. Couldn't wait to hit the big city when I grew up and now I can't wait to go back.
It looks like a very charming book that shows an equally charming area. What sweet memories you must have. Have a Happy week and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours~
Gorgeous pictures in the book and already in mosaic form...lucky you!!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
OMG - what a co-inkadink! It looks just like your dad's cabin.
What a great book. I will have to check that out. A happy Thanksgiving to you and your family also :)
Oh I love your dad's little cabin! I just love the NC mountains and all the people and creatures and beauty that goes along with them. It was our first choice about where to live when we left Florida, but that was before our kids decided California was for them. Fortunately I have come to appreciate the very different mountains (and people) here. I treasure my memories from NC. Ann
What a beautiful book. I didn't get to NC. this fall and I miss it so much. I need my mountain fix.

Such a wonderful book, and you're right Diane, it has the mosaics in it for you to share this week. I like the long covered porch on your dad's cabin.

What a gorgeous book. Such a special treasure to remember your dad's cabin. I often think of the girls treehouse as our little cabin in the woods. Hugs!

Such a beautiful book, so fitting for the season. North Carolina is on my list of places yet to explore. We've driven through edges of the state, but I want to spend time there exploring, Lord willing.
What a nice photo book and fun to see your dad's cabin in it. A bit of family history.
Diane, what a beautiful book, and it is even more special because it contains a pic of your dad's cabin. I would love to be in that cabin for a few days to withdraw from the world. I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
The photos in the book are stunning. Isn't autumn colour just amazing? I love how the cabin in the book makes you think of your dad's cabin. What a pretty place.

I'm so glad I discovered your post. My computer died last weekend and I've been up a creek until we could get my husbands oldy but goodie computer up and running.
Blessings and, did I see a giveaway mentioned? Yippee Skippy!
Hugs and Happy wishes,
