Where do you live?

I mean…

where do you spend the most time in your home?

DSCN3216[3]

I spend my time in the lanai. It is a room that has windows on 3 sides and it is air conditioned just like the rest of the house but it stays just a bit warmer because of all of the Florida sunshine. It’s my favorite room in the house.

CoffeeIMG_2362

And I use my coffee table.

It has everything I need right there on top but it looks pretty, too.

I got a surprise gift from my girlfriend Betsy at My Salvaged Treasures .

IMG_2352

It’s an Abalone shell that she surrounded with pretty rhinestones.

IMG_2353

And I found the perfect spot for it!

CoffeeIMG_2358

The little card that stands up by my shell box came with some art I bought from Diane Duda Design.

CoffeeTableIMG_2356

Oh, how I love her beautiful art!

CoffeeIMG_2357

On the shelf below, I keep pretty things, too.

IMG_2359

I’m constantly changing things on this coffee table but I always keep my favorite things nearby. (candle holders and the shell mirror are both Thrift Store finds…as well as the old Bible)

Hello Hello from Michigan.

I love your very pretty sun room. it is great you can use it year around.

I have a sun room too that I am most anxious to open soon. I love this room and we spend every waking hour in it from Spring to Autumn. It looks out over my whole back yard and all its gardens. I also love setting in the sun room and listening to it rain on the skylights. VBG

Your shell decorated with very pretty rhinestones is very lovely and creative. What a very thoughtful gift and the card is very sweet.

Hugs Judy

I can see why you spend most of your time in the garden room. The shells are gorgeous and I bet the sun is wonderful. We spend most of our time in the family room downstairs.

I love your lanai - it looks so comfy and inviting. That would be my favorite room as well.

I probably spend my most time in our frontroom. I have all my stuff piled around my easy chair. LOL. Sure wish I had your lanai tho.

Such a sweet little gift and a wonderful example of gilding the lily. So are you telling us that the warmest room of the house is where you like to be? My favorite room in the house is in the back away from any noises on the street where I can watch the clouds float by or putter redoing things as you do with your coffee table.

I would spend most of my time in the lanai also! Its beautiful! I spend most of my time in my swing on the back patio!

If I had a room like your lanai I would be spending my time there as well. Love the pretty things on your coffee table and the table too.

What a beautiful oasis you've created, I can see shy it's your favorite room. I'm so happy your jeweled abalone shell found a perfect spot with all your other shells.

I am visiting in Naples and oh, how I wish I could have met you! Love your lanai and your coffee table! The white Bible is similar to one my sister had.

I park my butt in this recliner. It's the only spot I can sit with my leg up so my ankle doesn't hurt. Also it's big enough for the dogs to sit with me. Abi usually lays at the end. And Charlie Ross has to have the throw over him next to me. He doesn't want to be seen I guess and feels safe there.

OK - three things. I love the little round stitchery of the bird on your table; love the shell; and love Duda's art work too! Oh and your lanai - oops that was four! Can't count lol!

Enjoy your room

Its a wonderful room...I can see why you love it so. I don't have a lot of room in my home. Only 750 square feet. but most of the time I am in the kitchen/living room area. However I do spend a lot of time napping in my bedroom as well :) Blessings

I would love that room too! I love my backyard. In the spring and summer I like to spend early mornings (before the kids get up) on my swing with a cup of coffee. I just love your shell collection...so lovely.

Your lanai is always so pretty and inviting! I would spend all my time in there, too :)
I used to spend all my time in my craft room, but recently decided to make some me time, and spread myself out some, and enjoy more of my home. I'll show you what I mean in a few upcoming blog posts ;)

I always thought a lanai was an outdoor gazebo type thingy. You learn something new every day...

Well I apparently live where this is this HUGE chance of very severe weather tonight, UGH I am coming to Florida LOL
when in my home my time is in my kitchen and not to cook but instead to create, the only place in my tiny abode that I can look out of a window and actually enjoy the outdoors!!

love your room

Most of my time is upstairs in my office with a velux window. I have my computer, sewing machine, artist's easel and paints all up there. Keep well Diane

I don't have a lanai but I have the next best thing - a shady screened in front porch. That's where you'll find me.

A sunroom would be wonderful - especially in Florida! Love that shell - it is just magical!

Diane, I would be in the lanai too. I love windows and sun too. I love my kitchen because I bird watch there. In the summer I love the deck and patio because of the flowers. You will enjoy knock out roses. They are so easy. I kill other roses but have 15 knockouts and two climbers. Betsy's embellished shell is beautiful. Enjoy your evening, Olive

I would love your sunroom also. We have a screened porch we enjoy spring and fall with summer usually being too hot! Love that Shell, Betsy is such a sweetheart and so talented!! Your shell collections are fun!

Well I "live" in my living room. Since painting and redecorating a few years ago I actually love being in here! It only took me 18 years to finally decorate things in my 'style'. I'd love a lanai -- yours is so inviting and cheery! WOW-- love that shell Betsy sent you -- she's so talented!

I didn't know what a lanai was, is it a Polynesian word?

Sounds like a lovely room to spend time!

Spend most of my time - when I'm home in front of my computer in my messy office OR outside in the garden.

I always feel relaxed after visiting your blog. It's better than a hot toddy. Really groovin' on the shell with the rhinestones.

Beautiful, Diane! If I had a lanai, I would spend a lot of time in it from June through September.

I spend most of my time in the kitchen right now because my sweet Bridger can't make the two steps down to the living room and I feel sorry for him. So i take my laptop into the kitchen so he can still be near me.

May I ask how old is your bible sitting on the table? I have one like that that grandma gave me oh well, almost 50 years ago.

Hey, Diane ... your coffee table display brought a smile to my face right away when I spied something 'familiar' ... how sweet!

I'm hoping to create a special place to spend more time by revamping a former free-standing 'workshop' into a 'studio/garden shed.' Otherwise, I confess that too much of my day is taken up by staring at the computer. That's gotta change!

Warm Southern Hugs back at you ...

Your lanai is so cheerful, so I can see why you enjoy that room so much. I really need help with coffee table vignettes. Our coffee table always looks crappy, and if I ever create something pretty on it, Mr. Art @ Home complains if he can's see over everything to the TV! :D

It looks like a wonderful room to spend time in. I find myself spending time on our front porch at our new home, when the weather is nice. Are you heading up here this summer?

Anonymous said...

I can see why you love that room. It looks so sunny that it would make anyone happy.

The room I'm in most is our guest room because that's where my desktop computer is. However, I am redecorating my own bedroom. I can already see when I get finished with it, that will be my favorite room of the house.

Hi Diane,
I don't blame you for hanging out in that lovely room. I love shells and love collecting them. You have such a pretty collection and I like how you have them displayed.

My favorite hangout is my bedroom.
I love proping myself up on the bed with my lap top and blog hopping!

Thanks for the well wishes on our house sale too.
