home·made adjective made in the home, on the premises, or by one's own efforts
bought·en /ˈbôtn/ adjective bought rather than homemade.
When you don’t feel so good, do you find yourself thinking of all of the things you want to do when you feel better?
I do….and I did! I was a little ‘under the weather’ last week and thought of all kinds of projects I wanted to do just as soon as I could.
I feel better now and the first thing I did was make new pillowcases. I wash my pillowcases more often than my sheets and they were thin and faded. Actually my linens are faded, too but I love them so much that I want to keep using them. My ‘extra’ linens are solid colors and oh, how I love these beautiful pink flowers.
I looked through my stash of fabric and my eyes fell on this old sheet that I had cut apart to make an apron. There was just enough left to make 2 pillowcases.
They have been washed several times and are smooth and soft. Perfect for ‘new’ pillowcases. I even made them a little longer, the way I like them.
Here’s my bed made up with some boughten pillowcases….vintage of course!
Don’t you love that sunshine streaming in?

Aren't you smart! Your pillow cases are so pretty. I like to wash them more often too. Love that Downy fresh smell. :)

The pillows look great! What a find in your stash! It's always FuN to go into the stash and find a piece of fabric and have enough to use. :)

I love your beautiful bed linens. I found a whole set of vinatge bed linens at the thrift store this past week...I will have to share them soon. So glad you are feeling better. I wish I could acomplish every project that I dream of ....I can't seem to get much done these days. Have a wonderful week dear Diane....blessings
I feel great, thank you, but I am a bit tired and your bed is looking very cozy!
A beautifully made bed always makes us feel better. My grandmother taught me as a very little girl how to make a bed and I still make those hospital corners. Now, thanks to you, I think I might make some pillow cases. I have retired from teaching and as my friends go back to work next week, I need projects. Lots of projects. Yours are beautiful and if they lifted your spirit, perhaps mine, too, will be lifted. I love the post card header, too.
Somehow in 38+ years ex-RAF flyboy has managed to resist the invasion of anything flowery in our bedroom...Love your window behind the bed!
sorry to hear you were under the weather, hope you are as right as rain now, you did make some beauties for your comfy bed, what a lovely spot to rest your head at the end of the day.Theres nothing better than vintage, so soft,
I know just what you mean. I'm glad you feel better, too :)
Your bed looks so nice, and I really love the vintage embroidered pillow case. Why have I never thought about making my own pillow cases???
Big Hugs!
Oh, that bed looks so inviting!! I made some new pillowcases a while back because it seems like the new ones are all solid colors now. Bravo to you for using the embroidered one, too. I am way to lazy to iron them.
You are inspiring me to buy some rose floral sheets and pillow cases. Yours look so pretty in the sunlight and I like the lawn beyond.
Glad you are feeling better. Nothing feels better than worn, vintage sheets!
Judy

I like the longer cases too. I have my favorites sheets . I will wash them, dry them, and put them right back on the bed. Glad you are feeling better. xoxo,Susie
Your pillowcases are so fun. I can't even imagine whipping up a pair of cases! What a beautiful job you did. I especially love your embroidered one at the bottom. I grew up with cases like that.
Hi Diane! I am so happy to hear I am not the only one who hands on to smooth soft percale forever and ever! Your vintage slipcases are so lovely with the sprays of flowers. Lovely all around! PS Adore your postcard header!
