(my hubby had the idea for pipe cleaner legs..thanks hubby…easy peasy)
I’ve been using free patterns that I find online but I decided for my first doll, I needed a tried and true pattern.
My strengths? Sewing. (that’s only ONE strength…I’m still trying to think of another one! hahaha)
My weaknesses….I don’t paint! I don’t have confidence to make a doll face or sew on hair so I chose a Prairie doll.
She’s out here in the lanai now hanging out while I blog.

This is so darn cute! And what a fantastic job you did with this pattern, your sewing is beautiful. I love the little bloomers, and the lace embellishment on her dress is perfect. Sometimes the simplest things are best, kudos to hubby for the pipe cleaner legs! On that note of simple, and since sewing is your forte, maybe you'd like French knot eyes. Just enough to give the impression if you want something there. Nothing is perfect too!
Aw, she's so cute. I was a child of the seventies, so she reminds me of Holly Hobby! I love Holly Hobby!

Diane, you seriously are a very talented lady! Your doll is just beautiful and looks just like (or even better than!) the ones in gift shops. I don't remember if you sell any of your things on Etsy? That would be great if you don't. I still love the little purse/wristlet I bought for my niece and she loves it, too! And yes....Life is short. Eat dessert first!... AND do the things you love to do! :)

It's cold, windy and a little snowy up here in the mountains, two days ago it reached 70 degrees. Love it!!!
What a cutey! I don't sew - except straight lines, like making a curtain panel.

How cute! Pretty fabrics too. I made a prairie type doll years ago and just embroidered a smile. That turned out kind of nice.

Hi Diane, what a cute doll. Love her sweet dress and the little lamb to go with. Really adorable. I used to make these in the 80's with no faces when we lived in Indiana and they were Amish dolls.

She is really cute Diane! I'm not a sewer at all as I don't have the patience. Taking pictures is my hobby. It's a blizzard day here so I'm stuck in the house. I think I'll do some more spring decorating to brighten things up in this winter wonderland that is outside the windows. Have a nice sun shiny day!

She is adorable and I love the sheep. I am gathering up the courage to make the holly hobby dolls again. I always had trouble with the head, but iI have new ideas. The eyes are hand embroideried, so I am trying to get pairs that at least resemble each other. I love your projects because they look like you can just use bits and pieces of left over material. Today I will not sew; I willbe visiting my friend as she makes cookes. She known for her cookies. Have a great day.

She is so cute and I love the lamb! I tried making a doll without a pattern once and was amazed at how difficult it was to do.
Diane, sewing is NOT one of my strengths. For some reason, I get incredibly stressed (and crabby!) when I sew. I greatly admire those that do. Your doll is adorable!

You did a great job of making up the little doll and lamb! Do these dolls typically not have faces? I'm unfamiliar with a "prairie" doll. One trick I've learned with doll faces (only if you ARE putting on a face), is to use a marker with ink that dissolves after an hour or so. I can draw a face, transfer it to the fabric using this marker, and then embroider over the lines and the lines just disappear. And if you make a mistake in the transfer part, it doesn't matter because the ink isn't permanent ... of course you may already know all this ;) Wendy x

Everything about her is sweet. My fun thing for today was lots of reading. It was super cold and I was so happy not to have anywhere I needed to be, nice fresh fruit for a snack and a good book.
Oh, I love this doll, Diane. It kind of looks like the Amish dolls with no faces painted on, so sweet. You are such a creative sewer. My mom used to sew all the time, and I only wish I had her talent.

Today was bitter cold (it is below 0 and we got another 3" of snow) but at this point we know it can't last much longer as it's the middle of March so I think I see light at the end of the tunnel! lol! Have a great weekend my friend,
