My little Canon S 100 doesn’t take the best close ups when I zoom in.
But I didn’t zoom in on this little guy!
I walked right up to him and looked him straight in the eye! lol
Who knew a dragonfly would pose for so long?
We were starting a hike at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve when I spotted him. Aren’t the details of his wings incredible?
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE.
Happy Weekend!

Hello Diane, pretty shots of the dragonfly. I am glad it posed so nicely for you too.. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post.. Have a happy weekend!
Fabulous shots!
Diane, what wonderful photos! What fun to get so close to him. Have a lovely weekend.
Diane, I think that is an awesome shot. You can see the webbing of his wings. I think I need to throw my big camera away. Hope you are having a fun weekend, xoxo,Susie
Wonderful photos! He must have enjoyed posing to have stayed so still for you!
What intricate, lacey wings! I've only seen dragonflies in passing as they zoom by. What terrific pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Great shots- I never have that kind of luck..or skills..you must walk softly! :)
he's such a poser! :)
He was literally posing for you! Great shots!
Those really are wonderful shots! Who knew that you were the dragonfly whisperer?! =D
Great shot - I love how they hold on with the front part of their body and the rest hangs off, but perfectly straight. I always think they look like fairies with their pretty wings.
Wonderful close up shots of the dragonfly, Diane! And such blue, blue sky!
Happy weekend.

Amazing pictures. I am so glad he hung around long enough for you to get the shots.
What an awesome photo and love that you were up close and personal.
Hello Diane. What a show off! Your photos are great! Hope the hike was just as spectacular.
Isn't nature wonderful! Even the wings in a crature so small can be an object of art! Great shot!
That is totally cool. You got really close alright. How gentlemanly of him to let you snap away! Happy Saturday, Diane!
Oh what a piece of luck to have it pose for you. Those wings are amazing indeed!
Right away I can see why people were smart to copy insects (and birds) when they built the first airplanes! Perfect balance and symmetry! Lovely, and very interesting shots!
I love dragonflies!Great shot!AriadnefromGreece!
Oh my goodness - These are amazing!! Have a great weekend my friend.
I love dragonflies. When I was doing Interior Design, I always put a dragonfly somewhere in a room kind of like my trademark. I also have a lot of dragonfly jewelry. Just love them.

All of God's creation is so awesome. Those little delicate wings that are strong enough to fly are amazing. I love the dragonflies and you did a terrific job capturing this little poser!

OOO, are you SURE it's a critter and not an alien..?? lol
Those pictures are great. At first I thought it was a helicopter. Hugs
This is such a cool picture, Diane, and how brave of you to walk right up to this little guy and take his picture. Dragonflies are so delightful. These really are great pictures.

Diane, you must be ninja cause you had to get really close to this little fellow and you still manage not to scare him away.
No seriously he must have sensed that you weren't an enemy and didn't mean any harm to him. These photos are really beautiful.
Hugs,
Arlette
Pretty amazing when nature stands still long enough to a few shots.
how awesome that he sat still for you-they do not always do that-Happy Sunday
My gosh, Diane. I can't BELIEVE you got those shots...well, I mean I can..but....they are unbelievable. xo Diana

Hi,
I love dragonfly's! Every time we go canoeing I seem to have one tag along with me in the canoe.
They are my favorite insect. :-)
Diane, your pictures are great! It looks like he is holding onto the branch with his hands! (of course, it's a he!) :-)
Cute! And the very first pic, for the slightest moment, I thought he was a drone. I love your header!
Good morning Diane,
That's a pretty incredible shot! I love dragonflies too, been thinking about stitching one up in fact! They are interesting for sure and the lacy detail in their wings is amazing isn't it? Have a nice week!
