We had a fun sighting last Sunday. We drove over to the mall to buy some new towels and bath mats. After walking through the mall to stretch out legs, we sat in the car to have a little snack. That’s when we saw a large bird fly from the side of the building. And then another one flew by. So we walked over there to see if they had a nest. (camera in hand)
And there they were! We counted 16 large eggs and there were probably even more in their fluffy nest.
But what was funny was coming home to check my blog and see when I had done a post HERE…the Muscovy ducks at the mall in this very same spot 4 years ago, almost to the day!

At that time, a baby had fallen over the wall and my sweet hubby rescued it and put it back in the nest.

We hope they survive. They were in a ‘hot spot’. I hope we get a chance to drive back over there and check on our babies!

That timing was very interesting! Creatures of habit those Muscovy ducks...guess you and your hubby are, too.
Oh how neat! It pays to pay attention, doesn't it? You would have missed all of those beautiful eggs this time if you hadn't been looking. :)

Too Cute!! We just had a nest of birdies fly away this week. The mama bird chose our porch post for her nest!! I finally got to clean up my porch yesterday.
Hello there dear Diane! Oh, what a long time it has been since I've stopped by your lovely blog...the past few days have been rather busy as my parents prepare for a short trip away...we have also had quite a lot of fresh produce come in which needed to be preserved... Thus, I am only now getting to visit with my sweet blog friends and catch up on what they've been up to:)
Today we had the market, and now I am enjoying a hot cup of coffee before making supper! :)
Oh! What a very precious little duckling! I could cuddle him up and smother him with kisses:). But that mama sure looks mean!
And look at all those eggs - aww! I just love ducks!

Oh that is amazing and SO cute! Love the picture of mama defending her brood the last time! I enjoyed another Robin's nest this year but only one of the three babies survived. However, at least a few times a week I still see mama and her growing boy/girl in our yard. They grow so fast it's hard to tell them apart now except for the few remaining speckles on the baby's chest.
Wow...that is a lot of eggs in the nest!! Can't wait to see how things are going when you go back to see the nest again.

My daughters and I rescued a blue jay...a cat was carrying it in his/her mouth and dropped the baby as we approached. We took it to the vet since the wing was broken badly. The tried to fix it for free but ended up keeping it. It has quite a personality and it LOVED the vet's wife's mom! I hope these duckies do great!

We had a bunch of Muscovy ducks that moved into Lake Siri in W.V. Unfortunately for them, it was verrry cold that winter...One week, the temps never got more than a few degrees above 0 Farenheit. By spring they were all gone.

I had no idea any kind of ducks lay that many eggs in one nest. What a nice thing that you found a post from 4 years ago about them too. I have to wonder why they build a nest where there are so many people around.
aahh, that poor baby Muscovy duck has taken a fall. I have a blog friend who cherishes these ducks, and she takes pictures of them at her lake all the time. I never realized how special they were until I saw her pictures, they are marvelous.

Wow, that's a lot of eggs for one Mama duck! The fallen baby is cute - "Help! Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" lol
How interesting! I've never seen them before although the name sounds familiar. That's probably where they resided long before the mall was there.
