A trip to the mall? Really?

You never know what you will see when

you get out into this great big old world!

DSCN4873

We parked in a little side parking lot that has big shade trees...

DSCN4859

got out and saw something ‘across the way’!

DSCN4859

And the closer I got..

DSCN4861

the more frantic this little guy was!

And then he fell down on his back...

DSCN4862

and couldn’t get up!

DSCN4864

My hubby saved the day by picking him up

and returning him to the nest!

DSCN4865

But was Mama grateful? NOT exactly!

 DSCN4866

OK! We’re GOING!

 DSCN4867

Just a ‘day at the mall’ here in the

beautiful state of Florida! heehee!

(a peek at the downy nest!)

Poor, poor tiny baby!
I'm so glad that you were there!
Poor baby took a tumble,
what a little scare!
So glad that he was rescued,
and you saw him from the trees,
Momma duck was mad for sure,
But this filled my heart with glee!

That is so cute! Why couldn't he get back up? Maybe he was trying to play dead. Do ducks do that?

I laughed out loud and had to show my husband! So cute.

thanks for sharing those photos ..very sweet. It is amazing to me where many geese and dcks will cross roads and nest right in such very busy human inhabited places .
BTW, my Florida friend if you have a few moments, check out my updated post about the art my friend and I are developing..There is one piece called "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" That has a real sand base ..I am adding tiny blue crab, starfish, sand dollars that I make out of clay to it. Look up the May 25th post of mine and check it out I think you may like it

Oh, this is so sweet. The poor little thing was so lucky you were there to rescue it. A few more waddles away and it could have had a much different ending. It's amazing that you were able to get pictures.

You guys came along at the right time, I am sure. Even though mama doesn't understand you got to admit she is a good mom anyways.

Aww I'm glad this had a happy ending. He looked so pitiful there on his back! What a good hubby, even if mama duck wasn't appreciative.

This is so cute...my husband even laughed...the duck on his back reminds me of our ferret..it's a favorite position for him. Enjoy NC and please continue blogging while your're away. I enjoy your blog so much. Oh, by the way...whenever we are going out, my husband says...go get the camera. So I think we will be taking it everywhere now. The vulture I have on my blog is something I have never seen and I have lived in the south all my life. That day we were ready to leave and I came back in the house to get the camera....sometimes you get unusual shots and sometimes nothing but you have to be ready.
Enjoy the NC mountains
