I thought she had packed her belongings to leave home but then I realized she had just packed a picnic lunch to go out to the countryside to enjoy nature. (hopefully not here in Florida, the mosquitoes have taken over the natural settings here! lol)
I am trying to use what I have so I had to ‘dig’ through my stash. I didn’t have what I needed for the red top so I cut a ‘homemade’ cloth placemat for her top. The red ric rac is vintage and the blue denim was about 3 yards that I got for $1 awhile back. The belt is a pretty piece of ribbon that my daughter in law gave me a long time ago. She also crocheted the little Mary Jane shoes for my dolls.
Ginger is such a beautiful doll that she looks good in anything, I think.
And it’s fun to make doll clothes but if you are a novice at sewing, be aware that the doll clothes patterns can be challenging.
Look at the instructions for this simple skirt.
You can’t really take short cuts either, or you will get frustrated working with the small pieces. They need to be cut accurately and sewn together properly. A cutting board is a must and ironing each seam and hem makes a world of difference. Keep the iron on low while you sew and press between each step.
Sewing should be FUN!!!

This is such a cute little outfit! I love making doll clothes for this size of doll. My mom used to make all our Barbie clothes, and they are SO fussy. She made all our Barbies lined winter wool coats, and also some very intricate square dancing dresses for them. I made Barbie clothes ONCE for my niece and that was quite enough for me! I don't think I'd have the patience for those tiny pieces now. Enjoy your day Diane!

Hi Diane! Oh, I'm so glad you're doing this again. Ginger looks beautiful in her skirt and top. Looks like she's in Mexico! ;) You do such a beautiful job on your outfits and I know what you mean about some of the patterns are not too easy. I just assume a lot and then I get into trouble. I used to love sewing and sewed for myself and my children. It was only after I made myself follow a pattern EXACTLY that I began to enjoy sewing.

Ginger is indeed a sweet dollie - love her picnic clothes. She could come over and picnic here but it definitely would have to be in the shade.
When I make AG doll clothes, I am always amazed at how different dolls are different sizes. There is a variance in the stuffing of the body I think. Most of the girls' dolls are at least 20 years old so maybe it's improved now. I always made sure I had a doll to fit the clothes to as I was sewing.
