Old buildings in Florida

I love seeing old buildings like this when we are driving the back roads here in Florida.

chfrIMG_1295

I guess this is an old church because the fence in back surrounds a small cemetery.

churchlineIMG_1293

Trees have grown right on top of the building.

And it’s hard to see the front.

There was even an old camper out back.

camlineIMG_1301

Everything was in disrepair (to say the least).

I just wonder about it’s story.

Don’t you?

The back roads…

another view of Florida.

I’m joining Tex for the

Good Fences party.

Diane, those pictures have a hauntingly beautiful look to them. If only those walls could tell us a story!

Hello Diane, what a neat find. I love the old church and the tree is beautiful. I am sure there are plenty of stories on this place. Great fence shots, enjoy your day!

It does have its own beauty. I wonder what the dates were on the tombstones? Could be a lot of history in that old church. What a shame it's just falling apart.

Diane, a perfect picture to write a story about! Such a shame that it is in such disrepair.

I agree with Gina, the images are hauntingly beautiful. It's as if something happened and everything was left as it is... Yes, I wonder about the history as well :)

Yes I wonder about it's life story.
When I was younger in my 30's I wanted to purchase a place like that and live in it of course all fixed up with my antiques and painted furniture.
I would live to see inside of it

What evocative photos . . . perhaps someone could create a story for this place.

It would make the beginnings of a great novel! Maybe someone is going to restore it. Someone is restoring an old schoolhouse just around the corner from here and it's interesting to watch.

Wow, Diane....if walls could talk, huh?!?

Wow! What a find!! Just think if those walls could talk! Wonder what year it was built?

That is so sad to see but I really like it too. The mossy trees growing over the roof and the old clapboards. It must have a great story and I wonder if it was used as a private home at one time where the trailer is in the yard too. Great photos Diane! Have a beautiful day.

Playing catch up here. Love the latest doll outfit as well as the finds in the post prior to that.

THIS reminds me of the one room schoolhouse camp that my grandparents had when I was little :)

Hi Diane, I love finding spots like this on the backroads. You captured some great shots. It is a wonder who lived here or gathered here for church. Too bad it is in disrepair now. Thanks for sharing.

just something about old trees with all the Spanish moss hanging from it....add an old house or a building and it sure makes the mind think! Have to wonder about the history surrounding the place. Great photos...

Diane, I too wonder what happened when a building is just left to fall down. Who was there last and decided to let it go. Hope you are having good weather. It rained here a bit today and stayed cloudy. This weekend is to be very hot. I am wishing for a some sweet summer days without rain or unbearable heat. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I also love the old buildings - and wonder what they would say if they could talk. I also wonder at what point someone gave up hope and decided to let them go.

Hi,
Wow, great photos!
My boys would love to go explore. Do you think anything is living in the house or camper? Snakes, spiders, mice...I told the boys, they might want to be careful. :-))
Great post, I love the back roads too. I wonder what happened, why are the homes or property abandoned?

Perhaps that was a home at one time and that was the family cemetery. Although it could have been a church too. It's sad to see it falling into disrepair but you captured it quite beautifully.

You find the neatest places!!
Kinda hot to be out and out!! Someone is taking care of the place - somewhat - since the lawn is mowed!!! Of course you know to be ware of snakes!!!
Please tell me where this was taken?????

I'm sorry. I couldn't see anything but that huge tree draped in Spanish moss! Reminds me of vacation days in Savannah. We love to travel back roads, too. This was a great find.

This interesting old Church is fast getting completely over grown, must be some good stories here, many folk must have worshiped here at some stage.

Oh yes... I always wonder about the story!

I'm sure there are many stories to be told . . . I would have love to see what the inside looked like, but I'm so afraid of snakes that I wouldn't have ventured in, even if they were having an open house:)

Two bandits were hiding there from the law, having made an unlikely getaway in a camper after their cool car broke down. They got into a fight. One cleared away with all the loot. The other, wounded, was left behind and was cared for by a pretty girt from a nearby farm. He reformed and married her. She got bored after a while and run away with a rodeo man.
