I love seeing old buildings like this when we are driving the back roads here in Florida.
I guess this is an old church because the fence in back surrounds a small cemetery.
Trees have grown right on top of the building.
And it’s hard to see the front.
There was even an old camper out back.
Everything was in disrepair (to say the least).
I just wonder about it’s story.

It does have its own beauty. I wonder what the dates were on the tombstones? Could be a lot of history in that old church. What a shame it's just falling apart.

yes back roads arealways more ing to investiate and you never know what you are going to find like this very old little church. I do wonder what the story is behind it.

When I was younger in my 30's I wanted to purchase a place like that and live in it of course all fixed up with my antiques and painted furniture.

What evocative photos . . . perhaps someone could create a story for this place.
It would make the beginnings of a great novel! Maybe someone is going to restore it. Someone is restoring an old schoolhouse just around the corner from here and it's interesting to watch.

That is so sad to see but I really like it too. The mossy trees growing over the roof and the old clapboards. It must have a great story and I wonder if it was used as a private home at one time where the trailer is in the yard too. Great photos Diane! Have a beautiful day.

Diane, I too wonder what happened when a building is just left to fall down. Who was there last and decided to let it go. Hope you are having good weather. Perhaps that was a home at one time and that was the family cemetery. Although it could have been a church too. It's sad to see it falling into disrepair but you captured it quite beautifully.

I'm sorry. I couldn't see anything but that huge tree draped in Spanish moss! Reminds me of vacation days in Savannah. We love to travel back roads, too. This was a great find.

How I would love to restore such buildings!
Two bandits were hiding there from the law, having made an unlikely getaway in a camper after their cool car broke down. They got into a fight. One cleared away with all the loot. The other, wounded, was left behind and was cared for by a pretty girt from a nearby farm. He reformed and married her. She got bored after a while and run away with a rodeo man.
