Quick, grab the camera!
I only got one photo before she flew!
She landed on the gutter of the house next door.
(I cropped and sharpened the photo)
A more common sight in Florida right now are the Nighthawks.
Dozens of them can be seen swooping and flying in the late afternoons catching flying insects! YAY!!!
It’s hard to get a good close up so I’ll show you the ID photo from Wikipedia.
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE.
Enjoy your weekend!

Hello Diane, I love your hawk shot. And the Nighthawks are an awesome sighting. I would be thrilled to see groups of them like this. Cool sightings and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
Glad you 'grabbed' your camera and shared the hawk.
WOW - that's a nice lucky shot for sure.
What a magnificent bird!
Glad they eat insects - hope not the fireflies- I love those- but they can have all the mosquitos they can eat! LOL!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Oh Diane! How exciting to have captured this beauty! Bird photography is so tricky...even with zoom lenses:). But my! So rewarding!
Have a blessed Saturday!

I think your little guy might be a red shouldered hawk. They eat snakes! Such a pretty specimen!
We have a lot of red hawks here in our area and I always enjoy watching them soar off from the telephone poles. That seems to be where i see them the most...I guess they are looking for prey!
Great photo - and how lucky that she stayed until you could at least get us one shot to enjoy. I'd love to see the night hawks - we have a lot of bats here to eat our bugs and one day I found a small one sleeping inside the closed deck umbrella - once I opened the umbrella the bat flew away to a darker spot to sleep the day away.
Great photo! I love hawks, so interesting!

Wow, great capture? Glad you got a photo before he flew away.
That's exciting to see Diane! And good that they eat bugs!!
Very cool- I love to watch them dive and swoop/ I need a camera at every window..LOL!
Fabulous! I have heard of them, but never seen one. We have bald eagles around here...thanks for the post!
Ruth
Love watching the hawks! I enjoyed. Your post with the fairy mushrooms too!
Oh yes, she is a beauty :)
We have kestrels, sparrowhawks, buzzards (smallest first) but they are mostly shy of domestic gardens. I love them!
Diane, Quick , send me a shipment of those nighthawks. LOL...you know the mosquitoes are getting thick around these parts. Tooo much rain and it is standing in the fields and yards. I just came from Sheri's Red Rose Alley blog. She is a sweetheart. I wanted to tell you , that you are special to me , even though we have not met, you are my friend. xoxo,Susie
Amazing! I love hawks. I think birds of prey are so fascinating. I have watched several documentaries on them.
Carla
They are such majestic and powerful birds! We have a lot of them here because we are surrounded by forest preserves but I've never seen one long enough to grab a picture.
Very neat! We hear a nighthawk buzzing by every night. You can almost set your watch to it.
How thrilled you must have been to have seen this.....beautiful picture....it's always such fun to catch a glimpse of wildlife and then manage to capture the moment! Thank you for this Diane!
I'm thinking you need to carry your camera everywhere you go...even in the house. Great shots, Diane.
Great photo Diane, I was thrilled to get photos of a bald eagle while we were away.
They're doing good work! We see the same thing going on with bats!
What a wonderful surprise visitor!
Oh my, you were certainly in the right place at the right time. Great shot of the hawk.
Diane,
wow, is that a hawk? You don't usually see them flying around in the neighborhoods. I'm glad you had your camera ready to get a picture of him. Thank you for your comment on my friendship post today. I am getting so many lovely ones.

I'm afraid those hawks would swoop down and take my puppy, hah.
Oh wow......such a beautiful sight...Thanks for sharing today.
Good set of critters! ...Night hawks are not birds I'm familiar with.

Lucky you to grab the camera in time. I constantly see pretty birdies in my backyard but can never get to the camera fast enough.
Wow sweet friend, you were quick with your camera! :) The picture is fabulous. Hugs and blessings to you!

Diane, glad you were able to get the photo. I can't tell you how many times I have wished I had my camera at the ready for a shot!
Hi Diane. Nice shot of the Hawk, and those Nighthawks are awesome. I've gotten only one photo of them that was worth keeping! They're just too quick for me.
Oh AWESOMENESS you got one of my Red-Shouldered Hawk favorites and a great snap too! I love Nighthawks, but hardly ever get to see them, except occasionally, when we travel~
WOW Diane, you captured a great shot of the hawk. I've been seeing them here circling around during the day too.
Have a nice evening. Hugs, cm
Great photos!! We see Hawks around here a lot. I go out with my 2 little Yorkies, because I worry that a hawk just might try to take one of them.
hugs,
Cindy

Hi Diane,
You did great taking a photo of this magnificent lady hawk.

Oh my that hawk is big! I hope it doesn't take off with a pet kitten or dog. Yikes!
I love nighthawks! But didn't realize they were in Florida!
