A Blue Run Park Hike!

The weather has been perfect for hiking since we got back to Florida. It’s a busy time so we’ve just managed once a week but it’s been great.

Blue Run trail runs along the Rainbow River so you have a chance to see lots of birds and buggers.

Buggers? Well, this ring neck snake would be a ‘bugger’ in my book! haha! But my hubby thinks it’s beautiful. And it was the smallest snake I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen nightcrawlers bigger than this!

The White Ibis is always fun to see!

I was pleased with this photo. You can see the water streaming off his bill.

There were a pair and they stayed close together.

A couple of fishin’ buddies!

And doesn’t he seem to be saying,

Can I have some privacy, please?

We watched a Downy Woodpecker in a tree, too.

A perfect day to get out and enjoy nature!

You are surrounded by the most beautiful creatures Diane. You can keep that little snake...I do not care how small they are, I am not a fan.:)

I am so drawn to Ibis...I remember reading the story of the Scarlet Ibis in a literature class. But that was a sad tale and yours is not!
Hugs sweet friend,

Hello Diane,
Nice photos....the ibis photos are great, I think they both ducked under water to avoid the camera, lol! I am not fond of snakes but that little guy is tiny and well, sort of cute! I do envy your weather! Its been very drab, gray and in 40's. tomorrow is supposed to be colder....I saw snow flurries today too! :( Have a nice Sunday!

The White Ibis' are so pretty, Diane. I like the picture of them with their heads under water haha. That little snake is unusual. Have never seen one that small. Yikes, your husband got so close to him, he's brave! :)

Diane, I thought it was just a fat earthworm. I think one of those lovely birds would enjoy having him for dinner!

I've been out of sorts but am posting again. xo

I had plans of going out birding yesterday, but oh did we have a cold front move in...and WET!! Stayed home and did laundry instead. Bah!!

LOVE the profile close up on the white ibis! That image is phenomenal. And your 'hubby' can think it's cute all he wants...I'm outta there! I hate snakes.

Great collection of photos today Diane.

Have a blessed week ahead, and thanks for sharing your link at I'd Rather B Birdin'!

Beautiful birds and your pictures of water and birds are fantastic. The snake? Poor thing isn't quite as attractive, even wearing a necklace.

That is one tiny snake. I'm wondering if that is a baby one or the full size? I also like snakes, probably because here in northern England they are very uncommon.

Ring-necked Snakes are so amazing! They are very tiny, I think they don't get much bigger than 8-12 inches or so. I had the pleasure of taking care of a few while I worked at a Nature Center years ago. When I'd take one out to show visitors (don't worry, they're so small even if they tried to bite they couldn't get through my skin) they would curl themselves around my fingers to absorb my warmth. It was like they were cuddling me! So cute. I think they're still my favorite kind of snake, and I like a lot of snakes.

Thanks for your post.
