When it's too hot to hike, we take an afternoon drive. This one led us to part of the Gulf Coast, called the Florida Nature Coast near Yankeetown.
One of the things we love about living in North Central Florida is being able to go to either coast in a short time. We can drive to the Gulf Coast in less than an hour and to the Atlantic in about 2 hours.
The marshlands are beautiful along the road and it's not crowded even on a Sunday afternoon.
It was a beautiful day, around 90 degrees. But it felt much cooler when we got to the Gulf.
We saw lots of wildlife and birds that I'll share soon.
Did you have a nice weekend too? Is it hot at your house?
I’m joining Mosaic Monday HERE.

We're having a cool week here in Chicago. I'm surprised you're not in the mountains yet.
I enjoyed your shots :)
Hello, beautiful views of the gulf coast. I would think it would be cooler to be near the water. I am sure the bird sightings were awesome too. A nice road trip, thank for sharing your day.
Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week!
Oh boy, yes it's hot here! Last week we had the hottest day for a very long time 34C that's about 93! It's cooled down slightly since then and I guess it was good preparation for our trip to Florida next month!
Thanks for joining me for MM again this week and stay cool.
Is it hot? Phew-ee it certainly is! We have recently moved to Bangkok and it is a shock, mind you last week I was in Europe and it was blooming hot there too, but I didn't dare complain (too much!) Lucky you have the options of two coasts within easy reach. Beautiful blues in your photos, looking forward to seeing your little birds.

No, the weather has been nearly perfect except for showery interruptions. Quite cool in fact.
That was a beautiful drive!
It is hot here. Yesterday afternoon it climbed to 99 degrees. Your photos are wonderful . . . I love the Gulf and all the sea shells. We don't have many shells along our coast line, but we do have plenty of sand dollars, if you can get out early and beat the seagulls to them.
Have a sweet week.
Connie :)
Your pictures are,as always, fabulous. Keep cool!
We had a wonderful weekend, great weather and family time at the cottage down at the shore. Today is beautiful too... If I ever live part time in Florida my choice will be the Gulf Coast - love the water and sand there - great pictures! Glad you're close enough to enjoy it even on day trips!
Diane - I love your second mosaic - such a beautiful composition - I felt immediately transported to the beach!
The weather in the UK was very warm and sunny for the first few days - I got more tan here than in Montana. And now it is reverting to type - next few days will be rainy ... it's OK - the gardens here need it!
Hi,
We are having a great week of weather here in Northwest Wisconsin.
I like your photo of the marshlands.
Carla
Hardly ever get to 90 here where I live. Today was a sunny day and in the 60's.
Your pictures are beautiful.
I love the picture of the marshlands. It has been wonderful here. The temps are in the 70's and it is breezy. We wish that it would stay this way, but we will not hold our breath!
It's hot in Texas but we haven't hit the 100 degree mark yet! Living without AC is unthinkable here and unsafe even!
If I didn't live in Texas, I would love to live in Florida! Beautiful place!
So pretty, Diane. Do the marshlands have a lot of mosquitoes? We sometimes drove by the marshlands in NJ and they looked very dismal and buggy.
It must be wonderful to be so close to both coasts!! And it was 44F. when I got up this morning. I've spent most of the day in a jacket. (Not a straightjacket.). 😁 xo
I LOVE the clouds in some of your shots!
It's so nice you can visit either coast without much traveling. Your photos are so pretty, Diane. I am a huge fan of the beautiful ocean and I love seeing your photos. Have a nice week. ♥
Beautiful photos, Diane! I lived near marshland when I lived in Brooklyn, near the south coast of Long Island and Atlantic Ocean. I loved the tides and birds I saw there. I loved your comment today on my blog--it sounds like your son had a fun adventure he'll remember all his life!
You are indeed blessed there Diane. Having such wonderful places within easy reach and nice weather must be very inviting. I'm looking foward to seeing your bird pictures.
You live in such a beautiful area--full of wildlife! Thanks for sharing, Sis
Yes---Hot here --but not as bad so far this week as last week. We had that tropical storm system go through here and the humidity was terrible.. BUT--this week it's NICER (so far)... ha
I think we've been to that area where you were.... We were headed across the state toward the Tampa area to visit G's son/family... I wanted to see the gulf ---so we drove out to that area.
Hugs,
Betsy
So so so pretty! Lots of blue and green!! And pretty water! Yep it very HOT HERE in Charleston! ! The walks are hard!
Florida is a beautiful State. just after Christmas we drove across Florida from coast to coast and. I was surprised by all of the horse farms.
we had a great weekend. attended a Chamber Series concert and housed some musicians.
Beautiful photos and especially pretty skies!
It's so nice to be beside or near to water.
Your photographs are lovely to see, very peaceful scenes with amazing blue skies.
All the best Jan
Hello my friend...I FINALLY took my dolls out to play!!
So much water! I always think that it must be cooler around the water. I enjoy your little mini tours of Florida. It is a very pretty state.
Looking forward to your bird pictures. I know they will be special. The heatwave is over here in the California mountains, so no, not hot any longer, just pleasant June weather. Like it should be.
Hello Diane, wow how lucky you are to take those wonderful drives and see such beautiful mother nature. Thanks for sharing FL.
Hope you have a nice week and enjoy the 4th of July!
Take care and hugs, Julie xo
Beautiful drive and I look forward to seeing the wildlife and birds. it was Hot everywhere last weekend I guess. We could have gotten back to Eugene on Saturday but played on the road (up in the mountains) because it was going to be 100+ degrees here in Eugene -- that's almost unprecedented, it hardly ever gets to 90 even.... so we just goofed around and took it slow and waited until Monday when the temps dropped to a more reasonable high in the mid-80s. (Which is nothing for a couple of part-time Floridians of course). I hope it stays around there for the rest of the summer!!
