Oh, you've never heard of that one? Me neither!
Well, it was dusk when I walked over to the pond and this Little Blue Heron looked 'coo coo'! hahaha!
He went into the tall reeds and I got a better look of how blue he was.
Then he flew into the Cypress tree and I got one more when he flew away.
It was a beautiful evening to walk, always something beautiful to see here in Florida.
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Quite a colorful bonnet he is wearing!
*Giggles* He looks like something out of an 80s punk rock band....I love the color! Great shots of him, Diane! Enjoy your weekend!

What a stately bird.
What a coo coo bird! Love your photos! Hugs!
You're bird photos are amazing . . . I've been trying all summer to get a photo of the hummingbirds in my yard. It's like they have radar . . . Connie's going for her camera, fly away, fly away, LOL.
What a beautiful blue heron. I love it's head!! Have a wonderful weekend :)
What a funny looking fellow. I always wondered why they call him the "Blue Heron" as he doesn't look that blue to me.....maybe up close he does. Glad you got some captures of this unique looking bird, Diane.
Wishing you pleasant end of the summer days.

Love Coo Coo Bird and great shots ~ thanks ~ ^_^
Beautiful photos! I always love seeing little blue herons.
Great shots of an interesting fellow, Diane. Such a pretty blue. I like your progression of photos. ♥
That hairdo in the first picture!!! So funny! In the other pictures it looks like his hair fluff is flatter. Maybe he was trying to impress you in that first picture!
He does look a little coo coo with that spiky hair thing going on! What a gorgeous shade of blue! You should definitely stop by this library pond every day, you seem to meet the most amazing birds! We're having a topsy turvy summer and have had rain almost every day ... and every day we also have sunshine too! It goes from hot and sunny to cold and rainy all within a few hours each day. So weird. But better than really HOT! like you are having. Hang in there!

Oh I love to see a heron in flight.
Never saw a coo coo bird before.
Oh what a beautiful bird and the images are picture perfect. I have somehow been missing you and when I saw you had posted on Anni's meme, yay!!!
Love to see pretty birds.
walking these days...better take a sweat towel with ya, huh.
They are long-legged beauties, aren't they? It's head reminds me of a Vegas showgirl.....LOL! How is your weekend coming along? It's hot and humid here...been staying home, will venture out for a shopping trip here in a bit. How are all your flowers doing? Ours have taken a beating for sure! Are y'all keeping up with your walks with the summer heat?
The person who named him must have written down the first name that came to mind. It sure fits him! I don't see such lovely birds on my evening walks. I did see a huge basset hound on my patio last night. I love the way their front feet turn out. I tried to lead him home but he was having none of it. Since he didn't know me and I didn't know him, I let him find his own way home. :)
I like his fuzzy hair-do! So cute! x K
Cute post! Loved the photos of this coo-coo! :-)
Well, he is dusky blue! Love the picture of him flying!
Thanks once again for doing your narration and sharing the wonderful photos this weekend. We birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' are always appreciative. One of my favorite birds is the Little Blue!!! Loved the tree silhouette.
You always see the most interesting birds! I have never seen anything like your coo-coo blue heron. I especially liked the picture of him taking off to fly away. Thanks for sharing him. I would have a whole library of bird pictures if I lived where you do.
Hello Diane!:) You had me fooled at first,:=) What a brilliant blue colour the heron has, and a cool hairdo.:)
Great photos!
Have a wonderful day!
What a fabulous bird to see, love his/her head of fluffy hair.
Love the birds you meet on your walks.
Wow!! What a beautiful bird! Great capture!
That does look like a coo coo bird with the top of his head! It's so nice to go on those walks and see birds and nature like you do. Thanks for sharing these nice photos.
Hope you have a nice week.

Hi Diane! Oh, he is one pretty bird and you got some great snaps of him. Thank you so much for your sweet comments and for being my blog friend all of these years.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Diane - do they normally have a funky hairdo like that? Gorgeous color!
He's a gorgeous color! What a great little visitor.
His hairdo in the first photo looks like he's been through something terrifying - or perhaps he's just a teenager trying out a new style. Fun!
Hi,
His hairdo is like mine on humid days. :-)
Great photos as always.
Carla
He is pretty cute. xo Laura
Lovely photo's, what a nice place to walk.
All the best Jan
Based on the first picture, yours is a better name for this species than its real one. He looks demented! Their blue color is really wonderful though!
That last shot, poised for flight. Biggest sigh...
What fun, to see such a magnificent bird while on your evening walk! I like your nickname for him too! He is one handsome fellow :)
Wow - great shots - especially of flying away - and the color of the bird is fabulous - I've not seen that one before either.
Love your name for him - I like that better than some of the regular names.
