The dusky blue coo coo bird

Oh, you've never heard of that one? Me neither!

Well, it was dusk when I walked over to the pond and this Little Blue Heron looked 'coo coo'! hahaha!

He went into the tall reeds and I got a better look of how blue he was.

Then he flew into the Cypress tree and I got one more when he flew away.

It was a beautiful evening to walk, always something beautiful to see here in Florida.

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

*Giggles* He looks like something out of an 80s punk rock band....I love the color! Great shots of him, Diane! Enjoy your weekend!

You're bird photos are amazing . . . I've been trying all summer to get a photo of the hummingbirds in my yard. It's like they have radar . . . Connie's going for her camera, fly away, fly away, LOL.

What a funny looking fellow. I always wondered why they call him the "Blue Heron" as he doesn't look that blue to me.....maybe up close he does. Glad you got some captures of this unique looking bird, Diane.

Wishing you pleasant end of the summer days.

That hairdo in the first picture!!! So funny! In the other pictures it looks like his hair fluff is flatter. Maybe he was trying to impress you in that first picture!

He does look a little coo coo with that spiky hair thing going on! What a gorgeous shade of blue! You should definitely stop by this library pond every day, you seem to meet the most amazing birds! We're having a topsy turvy summer and have had rain almost every day ... and every day we also have sunshine too! It goes from hot and sunny to cold and rainy all within a few hours each day. So weird. But better than really HOT! like you are having. Hang in there!

They are long-legged beauties, aren't they? It's head reminds me of a Vegas showgirl.....LOL! How is your weekend coming along? It's hot and humid here...been staying home, will venture out for a shopping trip here in a bit. How are all your flowers doing? Ours have taken a beating for sure! Are y'all keeping up with your walks with the summer heat?

The person who named him must have written down the first name that came to mind. It sure fits him! I don't see such lovely birds on my evening walks. I did see a huge basset hound on my patio last night. I love the way their front feet turn out. I tried to lead him home but he was having none of it. Since he didn't know me and I didn't know him, I let him find his own way home. :)

Thanks once again for doing your narration and sharing the wonderful photos this weekend. We birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' are always appreciative. One of my favorite birds is the Little Blue!!! Loved the tree silhouette.

You always see the most interesting birds! I have never seen anything like your coo-coo blue heron. I especially liked the picture of him taking off to fly away. Thanks for sharing him. I would have a whole library of bird pictures if I lived where you do.

Diane - do they normally have a funky hairdo like that? Gorgeous color!

His hairdo in the first photo looks like he's been through something terrifying - or perhaps he's just a teenager trying out a new style. Fun!

Hi,
His hairdo is like mine on humid days. :-)
Great photos as always.

Based on the first picture, yours is a better name for this species than its real one. He looks demented! Their blue color is really wonderful though!

That last shot, poised for flight. Biggest sigh...

What fun, to see such a magnificent bird while on your evening walk! I like your nickname for him too! He is one handsome fellow :)

Wow - great shots - especially of flying away - and the color of the bird is fabulous - I've not seen that one before either.

Love your name for him - I like that better than some of the regular names.
