Creepy Critters!

One thing you may not know about me is that I LOVE the old monster movies from the ‘50s and ‘60s. Not really the SYFY stuff but the old movies that I went to on Saturday afternoon at the Royal Theatre!

When I came home and looked at this photo, I thought PERFECT for a movie monster.

beecrazycropIMG_7161

Maybe something that Alfred Hitchcock would have approved?

And while I have you here….

these spiders are particularly creepy. I HATE spiders!

This frog….

frogIMG_7104

more cute than creepy!

And a common sight here in Florida, an Eastern Fence Lizard.

How about this young Skink!

The blue tail tells us that he is a young one.

A few pretty flowers with ‘bees’!

And we’ll end with very sweet!

Baby turkeys that live near us.

There’s a large flock of wild turkeys that live in our community but I don’t think we’ve ever seen babies!

Ahhhhh!!!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Your photos are amazing Diane. It is fun to get a close up view!! We have some baby turkeys in our area as well. I guess no one has told them yet about Thanksgiving.:)

Diane, I get all creeped out when I see spiders....I feel the hair on my head getting all prickly feeling...ready to stand straight up. LOL. I don't like to get near creepy things that can jump ! I do not like to be near spitting animals either. LOL Now mind you I would pick up those roly poly bugs and catapult them with a popcycle stick to see how far they would go...hey we were poor, no toys. LOL. I absolutely love bees...but have never seen one that looked to be wearing sunglasses. Crazy eyes. Blessings to you, enjoy the weekend and stay cool. xoxo, Susie

OMW! I love this post, every single photo. I do love critters and that is the cutest craziest bee I have ever seen and makes a perfect monster.. he even has on goggles... we had the skinks in St Pete but not here at this house.
once years ago , we were out east on a Sat morning ride, back when we could afford the gas to waste. we passed miles of telephone wires that had thousands of these spiders hanging from them, we could not drive for shuddering and looking. another time I took my son who freaks over spiders worse than I do to see a baby elephant in someone yard out east. we pulled into the drive way and stopped at the gate to watch the little elephant and Dan started screaming, MOM drive drive get out of hear.. he had looked up and there were maybe 20 of these spiders hanging right over our truck... creepy

I remember those old movies too. Love them still! Sometimes the marathon on TCM with these and I get a a kick out of how silly they were. But, for a Saturday afternoon matinee back then they sure could send one home scared to death. Fun memories. Love your pics and I am terrified of spiders too. Favorite pic, flower and bee :)
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Fourth....
Hugs.

Despite your love of critters...you HATE spiders?

Oh well, there's one critter I HATE. Roaches. And they grow pretty big in Florida.

I belong to the spider hating club I am sorry to say, I know spiders are helpful and all the rest of that but, I just do not feel comfortable around spiders ( running and screaming may happen ) , beautiful photos as always, the turkeys are amazing aren't they!

Those turkey babies hide well when approached.

Amazing photos! We love all scifi stuff. Going to see Jurassic World movie on 4th of July, and taking 10 year old grandson to see Antman and the Wasp for his birthday. :)

Hello My friend.

The rains have stopped and this weekend we could see 90*. I learned something new and interesting from your post; I always called those baby Skinks Blue Tails and thought they were just another species. Now I know that they are young Skinks (not to my liking).

Happy 4th of July to you and Ron.

Hugs,
Joyce

That bee looks like it has sunglasses on!
Sure glad it is small and not super large like tin hose monster movies.
We have wild turkeys all over the place here too, but I've never seen babies.

I too hate spiders! Awwww, those baby turkeys...now, that's a sight you just don't see every day.

I want to send along my sincere thanks for your sharing this fabulous post this week with us birders!

I love that bug with the large eyes. I think it must have been the inspiration for the Minions? Love the frog peeking from the water too. And who couldn't say aaah to those bay turkeys?

Hi Diane! I like the first critter with the "big spectacle", so unique! I also like the turkey and baby turkeys. But no thanks to all the creepy crawlies!

I'm not sure how I found your blog, but I'm so glad I did! Your photos are wonderful. What on earth is that big-eyed "monster" insect? How perfectly you captured it in this photo. Here's hoping you have a subscribe by e-mail option here. I want to find my way back.

What IS that first one? A bee? He looks like he's wearing goggles. All I can say is bravo, photographer! Brilliant shot!

Vee said...

Is that bug wearing goggles even real? ha! Not a fan of any of these critters, but they are certainly interesting. That skink can just skink off into the tall grass.
