Do you want to go to Micanopy, FL?

Let’s take a drive through the countryside to experience this delightful ‘Old Florida’ town. It’s the oldest inland town in Florida and has about 600 residents.

It was a beautiful day to take a drive. I love taking the backroads, don’t you?

And because of the rains we’ve had, everything is nice and green.

I just have to show a close up of these horses. (taken out of my side window…yes, I slowed down and there was no traffic on this road)

Micanopy was having a very slow, laid back day as well.

So I walked and walked taking pics everywhere I went. (enough for a ‘few’ posts!lol)

A couple of popular movies were filmed here. Doc Hollywood and Cross Creek….Cross Creek is one of my OLD TIME favorite movies. If you haven’t seen it….find it and enjoy! It’s based on the book by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.

Plenty of parking downtown…that’s my BMW tucked safely in the parallel parking. (we’ll get back to that in a few minutes!)

Time to walk…

Lots to see and plenty of interesting shops to browse.

A stress free day! WHAT? I was almost back to my car when I heard CRASH!!!

wreckIMG_6969

A car wreck right next to my car. So much for stress free! It was a miserable day for several people so I said a quick prayer for them.

People don't really know how beautiful Florida really is if they only state on Interstate 75 and visit Disney. This is the Florida I love!

I love Micanopy! Cute little antique stores and shops. There was a woman who lived on the main street and had a very colorful painted house. People kept coming up and walking in her door thinking it was a shop. So she asked me to make a colorful mosaic sign that said "private" on it!

Diane, So glad your car was not involved. :) I love the building with the old coke cola sign on it. So pretty. I like taking the back roads and seeing things long forgotten by time. Blessings for a beautiful fun new week there. xoxo, Susie

A lovely little town that I had never heard of. Glad that wreck didn't end up banging into your car.

Micanopy looks like the perfect place to experience Florida as it once was, I'd really enjoy strolling those leafy streets and popping in and out of the old stores. Thanks for showing us this side of Florida, so many years and miles away from Theme Park craziness!
Happy MM.

So glad they didn't crunch your car!

We do love to take little drives to small towns. They are the heart and soul of America! It's always fun to see how lush everything is in Florida.

I would have liked to take that walk with your. Lovely town.

I've not been to Micanopy, but it looks like a pretty town to visit and spend an afternoon. I have been to St. Augustine and loved it! Too bad about the crash, hope no one was injured.

Yes, backroads are the way to go. My hubby and I love to pick a basic route and then just let the wandering take over. Fascinating journeys and experiences every time! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

That's a neat old town! Love the horses.

I prefer backroads, too. What pretty horses! Your photos show that the rain deepened the green color and cleaned the air. Micanopy is such a smal, raid-back, charming city. A pleasant walk through lovely architectures.

I love backroads but Marvin is an expressway kind of guy. The photo of the old stone could be a painting. I would buy one!!

The road less traveled, always the way to go!! This looks like an interesting town, it does not look like Florida to me! Too bad about the accident, seeing that always puts a little sadness in the day!!

A beautiful group of pictures!!

Love all these pretty pictures, my friend! Love the roads, the trees, the little towns. I love little places like that. And I LOVE YOUR FLORIDA BACK ROADS...so much to see and enjoy. No disney for us, ha ha LOl. I will do Weeki Wachee state park though! ha ha My favorite picture is the one of the green chair. Glad you stopped by and that y'all were able to walk early that day. No walking for us yesterday or today.......too dang hot. We have lil granddaughter a few nights a week now and that takes quite a bit of my energy as well. Hope you are having a real good week!

I have friends in Florida - I hear your tennis facilities are awesome! I haven't been to Florida for many. many years I can't wait to visit someday. It looks so lush and green, peaceful and calm and of course, for me, the thing I miss most living in Asia is the fresh air! Sorry to hear about the fender bender close to you, glad everyone was ok.
