I was so thrilled to see a pair of young Red-tailed Hawks at Sholom Park a couple weeks ago!
They were just testing their wings by jumping from one tree limb to another.
It was ‘challenging’ to get good photos but you get the idea.
They were even clinging to the side of the tree like a woodpecker does. So cute!
I made a point to go a week later to check on them and they were still in the same area.
They love to call and call to each other.
Looks like their feathers have smoothed out a bit just in this one week.

After all they are still my babies!
It looks like this one is saying, “I don’t remember that big cone being there when I landed here!” lol

these are really good captures of the hawks!! best to see them in the wild, on park property, then in your backyard. they really wreak havoc on the little birds at the feeders when they visit my yard!!

they really are beautiful aren't they,, I did a painting of a Red Tail Hawk for a woman in New York a number of years ago and it was one of my very favorite works,, they are such a regal intelligent looking bird with the smarts to go with!! Thank you so much for sharing this,,
the babies really are adorable. we live in an area that is full of hawks and they are about the only birds we have left. they have decimated the squirrels and the bird life. there are so many of them there is not enough food. we had 1/2 dozen squirrels and they are all gone, we see one, once in a wild... all the song birds are gone, 2 weeks ago we have several..
So pretty. We had some Robins building a nest on the front porch a few months ago. I watched her and her mate take care of the little ones. Their was three of them.

Now seen any babies coming and going this yr but I have heard them all in the trees. There was a nest out in the backyard somewhere where a set of red birds had babes. I would watch mom and dad come to the feeder and mom would get what she needed while dad was a couple of branches away....watching. Then as they flew to the back on the yard you would hear the babes start up. Love that sound. THanks for sharing your pics. Very nice.
No baby birds near here but I did see those two Sandhill Cranes with their little "colts" awhile back. They were in the parking lot at a medical center.
We have bluebird babies. How awesome to have young hawks to watch. Have a wonderful weekend.

Can't say I've seen any baby birds, but as I sit here on Saturday evening typing I can hear the birds singing as they settle down for the night.

You got some great photos of the hawk. There are a lot of varieties of birds where I live if one goes out a bit farther. In my neighbourhood and my patio I only get the same 3-4 varieties.

Nice pictures! We haven't had any baby birds around our place this year. Today we drove to the park and saw a lot of Canada geese. There aren't usually that many there but today we had to stop the car to let a dozen or so cross in front of us. People were feeding them and the sign clearly said, "Do not feed the geese." Oh well.
It is interesting how much more mature they look with a little bit of time. Around here, I have seen (really, heard) swallow babies inside a nesting box, and turkey babies with their mamas.

Having fun catching up now that we’re home again! It is a real gift to be able to watch baby birds grow....I love that our Florida Eagle nest coincides with Snowbird season.,.have loved watching the process. Now here in Eugene there’s an osprey nest on the UO campus...I plan to go see it as soon as we get “Oregonized” here. Love the pictures of your growing hawk babies....you caught great facial expressions.
