The Great White Egret goes fishing!

I walked at Shalom Park last Sunday morning.

And this Great White Egret was high up in a pine tree looking over the pond.

He posed…

and posed…

and I couldn’t stop taking pics.

I finally had to decide to take my walk!

eIMG_8586

And when I got back he was ready to entertain me again.

eIMG_8585

He had gotten hungry

eIMG_8592

and he was fishing!

eIMG_8594

Of course he’s a better fisherman than me!

eIMG_8595

He caught one!

Oh no, is the EYE still open on this tiny fish? How cruel!

And my favorite pic of the day….he’s giving him a good shake!

I think they are just playing, don’t you? EEEEEE!!!!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Great photos! Poor little fish. At that rate I wonder how many the great egret will have to eat?

Hello, great series on the Great Egret. That is a tiny fish, he needs to eat more of them. The view of the lake is pretty. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks also for the comments and visit to my blog.

maybe they shake it hard to stun it so it doesn't move when it goes down that long hatch. I have watched them fish and some of the fish look way to big to swallow. once in a while our resident heron stands in our yard ON GUARD..he stands still as a statue as I watch out the window. he strikes quickly and sometimes he comes up with a frog, sometimes a lizard. I fuss at him for eating my entertainment, even though I understand the food chain... I mean how can any one eat a LAMB?

Oh these are marvelous images my friend and he certainly did show off for you. I can waste so much time taking pictures when I walk, it's hardly a walk my husby says, but then again I do manage to take long walks and the pictures just have to be part of it. Hugs to you~

I do like it when birds are not camera shy. Better still if I can return to the same spot and they are still thee. Nice photos Diane.

What a beautiful bird. We saw those a lot when we lived near the Texas coast.

What great captures. Aren't fish eyes always open? Dead or alive? Not sure, but that capturing that shows what a really good nature photographer you are.

Wow - the colors are simply amazing - such contrast. I would have taken a zillion photos - sometimes you just have to try for "one more" - it was nice to be entertained by such a pretty bird. Happy Day my friend.
