I walked at Shalom Park last Sunday morning.
And this Great White Egret was high up in a pine tree looking over the pond.
He posed…
and posed…
and I couldn’t stop taking pics.
I finally had to decide to take my walk!
And when I got back he was ready to entertain me again.
He had gotten hungry
and he was fishing!
Of course he’s a better fisherman than me!
He caught one!
Oh no, is the EYE still open on this tiny fish? How cruel!
And my favorite pic of the day….he’s giving him a good shake!
I think they are just playing, don’t you? EEEEEE!!!!
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

A beautiful bird and fun to watch! Happy Saturday.
Great photos! Poor little fish. At that rate I wonder how many the great egret will have to eat?
Hello, great series on the Great Egret. That is a tiny fish, he needs to eat more of them. The view of the lake is pretty. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks also for the comments and visit to my blog.
maybe they shake it hard to stun it so it doesn't move when it goes down that long hatch. I have watched them fish and some of the fish look way to big to swallow. once in a while our resident heron stands in our yard ON GUARD..he stands still as a statue as I watch out the window. he strikes quickly and sometimes he comes up with a frog, sometimes a lizard. I fuss at him for eating my entertainment, even though I understand the food chain... I mean how can any one eat a LAMB?
Diane, That is a beautiful egret. He is pretty good at fishing.:):) Love the nice pretty water Also, I love the cute things your cousin sent you in the previous post. Wonderful crafting things. Blessings to you and your sweet husband (bringing you new cookware). xoxo, Susie
There, there, Diane. Playing...I’m sure of it! đŸ™‚
Wow! You got some wonderful pictures!
Beautiful photos! He was posing for you!!
Oh these are marvelous images my friend and he certainly did show off for you. I can waste so much time taking pictures when I walk, it's hardly a walk my husby says, but then again I do manage to take long walks and the pictures just have to be part of it. Hugs to you~
Great captures!! Worthy of National Geographic!! I'm serious!
Awesome captures!
Wow!!! Diane, your photos get better and better with each post. These are amazing!

I love the picture of the lake, and fantastic ones of the Great White Egret.
Enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
What a beauty! Thanks for sharing these great shots.
OH WOW!!---you got some really really great pictures, my friend, i love them all!!! Especially the last few. Dont you just love it when they sit there and "pose" for you? Seriously, it's really like what some animals seem to do for us, ha ha LOL Hope you are having a great weekend, we are keeping an eye on that hurricane Florence. Dang I hope we dont have to evacuate again.....
I do like it when birds are not camera shy. Better still if I can return to the same spot and they are still thee. Nice photos Diane.
A beautiful, fresh morning with all the great expert 'fishermen'!! Better looking than the beer bellied, two legged ones I see. lol
With everything said, I say 'thank you' for taking time to share this post with us all at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week!
Awesome photos.
Just fantastic photos...They are such pretty birds.

What a beautiful bird. We saw those a lot when we lived near the Texas coast.
What great captures. Aren't fish eyes always open? Dead or alive? Not sure, but that capturing that shows what a really good nature photographer you are.
Like it perched on that pine, but the fishing capture is great.Beautiful birds, they will start migrating soon here.
What a spot for a morning walk! Stunning.

I can see why you kept taking pictures of this Great White Egret. It's such a fascinating bird. I love the one of him shaking the fish hehehe. The pond picture is so lovely.

Wow - the colors are simply amazing - such contrast. I would have taken a zillion photos - sometimes you just have to try for "one more" - it was nice to be entertained by such a pretty bird. Happy Day my friend.
