Come meet the Herd of Deer!

I drove out to Pruitt Trailhead two days in a row and saw a herd of deer BOTH DAYS!

I went at about the same time of day, right after lunch. The first day, I walked down the trail and saw them through the trees.

The second day, they walked through the woods parallel to the trail. I kept hoping they would come into an open area to give me a better view, but they did something even better!

The video below shows them crossing the trail in front of me!

What a thrill to see them all...twice!

I saw this pretty little Blue-gray Gnatcatcher back at the parking area.

There are so many pretty birds at this preserve!

I even saw a Juvenile Little Blue Heron.

He's in his white stage, with just a little blue showing on his neck and tail feathers!

As Hurricane Dorian barrels towards Florida, please keep us in your prayers! Thank you!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Diane, Yes, I am praying for everyone there in your state. Please be safe. I loved seeing the deer. You do get some great bird pictures. I have to use vinegar and a drop of dish soap as a gnatcatcher. Not near as pretty. Blessings to you and Ron, xoxo, Susie

Hello,

I enjoyed seeing the deer and your video of them crossing the trail is great. Pretty captures of the Little Blue and the Gnatcatcher. I hope you stay safe and the storm takes a turn. Thanks for sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for the visit and comment.

I shared your picture of the Gnatcatcher with Beloved. His response, "Eat all you want, Buddy. Go back, eat more, and get fat!" (smile)

Yes, thinking of you, too, with this storm approaching (or is it???). The news is looking more hopeful this morning, but we won't let our guard down just yet!

I never tire of seeing Blue-grey Gnatcatchers, such a delightful, energetic little bird. I am sure you are very concerned by this hurricane. I know a fellow who lived in Florida for about twenty years and had his property destroyed by three different hurricanes and finally moved back home to Ohio. I must confess that it is a mystery why anyone would choose to live in an area so hurricane-prone and now with global warming and sea level rises a good portion of the state will be under water. Stay safe during this current threat to your health, safety and well-being.

I have never seen a herd of deer and certainly not crossing the road. I have not seen a white young heron either and my favorite photo is the bird on the barbwire. that photos is awesome....

There's always a thrill when I see a deer or two. It happens so unexpectedly, as if they appear by magic. You do have some lovely places to hike Diane.

The only time I've seen deer is when I'm driving and it's usually because they are running out in front of me. This would be a delightful way to observe them.
That's a pretty little bird int he photo below the video

I sure love that first picture!! Love their sweet faces, they look so gentle and peaceful and so CURIOUS about what you are doing and who you are!Not sure which way Dorian is headed---prayers for everybody's safety, like you, we prepared some today and shopped for necessities in case power goes out, food supplies, pet food etc. Did you get much cooking done?

I want to send you my thanks and appreciation for joining us this week at I'd Rather B Birdin'...by the looks of my weather alerts I receive, Floridians will not be hit too badly with Dorian...maybe Georgia or/and Carolinas. Either case, stay safe.

Hope the hurricane eases up the coast without too much damage. And I pray that no lives are lost.

What a sight the deer must have been! And a sweet bird, indeed. I thought it was a hummingbird at first. Its beak is long. The little Blue Heron is precious. I always enjoy your walk through the woods, Diane. : )
