Flying Birds

I'm still driving around to see what I can see. I can park my car in the shade at the Pruitt Trailhead and hope there's a bird that loves the shade as much as I do.

The horse farm is to the left of my car in this photo and to the right is the marshland of the Florida Trails.

We've had enough rain to keep the marsh lands extra marshy!

There are tiny white flowers growing in the shallow water.

While I was at my car another day 2 Egrets flew by.

These are the same 2 but because of the angle of the sun, they look different.

Beautiful on land or in the sky!

 They are so graceful!

It sure is a challenge to ID birds in flight. I appreciate so much all the help everyone gave me last week when I showed birds that were 'high in the sky'.

I still don't think we have a positive ID and probably won't unless they fly back over at a lower elevation! But thanks so much to all my birding blog buddies!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

The egrets look like some amazing, futuristic aircraft. Very intriguing.

Don't you love the egrets? I find them so graceful and we have lots of them here this time of year. Soon they will be heading south, I suppose. As always, great pictures. xo Diana

Diane, The egrets have such long necks..hard to believe they can fly at all. :):) You seem to always get to see something of nature while you are out driving around.
Thank you my sweet friend, for that cute card you sent Ted and I. He just smiles ear to ear when I tell him what it says. We are home till next Friday and that is a check up appt in Indy. Then in Sept. He will have a week of chemo, so hoping it will be in the town closer to us. A major part of 465 interstate is closed and the traffic is maddening in Indy. I long to own a helicopter. LOL Blessings to you ans Ron , thank you for the prayers, love you, xoxo, Susie

I have become more interested in birds since we are at Grimmwood so often and have time to really watch them. We have a hawk that lives in the field and it is so fun to watch him flying.

Beautiful pictures, as always. I wouldn't want to be stuck in that marshland! Yesterday I was putting out the recycling and three geese flew over my head so low I could see their legs. They were heading for the river, I guess for the night. Have a good day, Diane!

Your white egrets are really beautiful! I'm no good with birds - but learning. Happy weekend.

I love the shade, the trees and the fence and the road and a shady place to park and see all these lovely birds.

Fantastic photos Diane. We have egrets on the lower Mississippi River here in Wisconsin during the Summer. They sure are lovely.

It is interesting to show the egrets in different light looking almost like different birds. Many birders fail to take factors such as this into account.

Lovely! It is always interesting that there can be swampland on one side of the road and pasture for livestock directly across. Gotta love Florida!!

It looks so beautiful there. I've never been very good at identifying birds unless they are ones that I see frequently

Summer and one of her friends have been down at the Texas coast and they saw some interesting birds. Karen - her friend - is an amazingly interesting lady and found birds she has been wanting to see as well as a crucifix fish. There's always something new or intersting to see and you have a knack for finding it!

Gorgeous photos. Love the 'in flight' coming in to landing gear images. Excellent timing. Stay dry (wish we had marshy instead of cracking ground

)
Happy weekend, and you linking with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' is appreciated. Thanks.

I love all the pictures! I am wondering what those tiny white flowers are, did you find out? Dont think I've ever seen any of those. Its been a hot and wet weekend here, it rained ALOT YESTERDAY keeping us inside all day. Today the sun came out and we took a drive to the beach. I had an urge to go see the ocean. LOL Also organized more things in the house, went and got a haircut, and did some household shopping, got most of it all put away. Did a tiny bit of weeding in my flower pots this evening (armed to the max against the nasty varmit "skeeters", LOL!!), and planted some zinnia seeds, I've never planted those before.

beautiful shots. I miss seeing the egrets. In Sweden we only have grey heron. Egrets are a rare bird here.

How nice that you can conveniently park and have such a vista! We have a back yard lake but to get out in the "wild" we must walk about 3 miles round trip. No real problem except for the heat and humidity plus chance of those "pop up" showers with nowhere to find shelter.
