We live in the Horse Capital of the World so wherever we go, we pass horse farms.
I like this quote....
"It is hard to come to Marion County without becoming almost immediately
aware that it is the “Horse Capital of the World.” Only 5 cities in the
world are permitted under Chamber of Commerce guidelines to be called
“Horse Capital of the world.” The city of Ocala just so happens to be 1
out of 4 that are located in America. Ocala has more than 70,000 acres
of thoroughbred breeding and training farms, which makes Ocala/Marion
County capital to all things equine." whatsupocala.com
We couldn't hike over the weekend because of the heat. The temps aren't so terrible but the humidity is as high as the temps so we've had a heat advisory for the past few days. So we took a drive!
This horse farm is really close to us and this summer it has been amazing to see the horses in the pasture. It looks like every big horse has a small horse by it's side! Lots of babies born recently.
And of course we love seeing the donkeys that are there guarding the herd!
This would be a game of 'what doesn't belong'?

I’m joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

Hello,
I love all the horses and the cute donkey! I remember driving around Ocala and seeing all the beautiful horse farms. This county is a lot different than the coastal areas of Florida. Wonderful photos and mosaics! Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week ahead.
I think horses are one of God's most beautiful creations.
I love seeing horses in pasture!
We've had cooler temperatures this past week. I'm glad we had the grandies the week before.
(ツ) from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Makes you wonder how the horses handle that heat.
...gorgeous creatures!
When we head to Naples Florida, I always enjoyed driving on I75 through the Ocala area. Those hills and the horse farms are so pretty.
I knew there were lots of horses, since I have spent my entire 75 years running up and down 301 through Ocala, between Bradenton and Savannah. but had no idea how many acres or how many horses or that they are horse capital material. it is one of the most beautiful parts of Florida, yet we rarely hear about it. maybe that is why it is still beautiful. I spent many happy hours in Silver Springs and Six Gun Territroy that used to be across f rom the springs
Diane, So funny, I never think of Florida when I think of horses. Shows what I know. LOL. I love seeing horses. The neighbors here used to keep sheep and they had a donkey in the field with them. There was a small hut of some kind that the sheep would go in...the donkey used to get mad and chase those sheep, they would run in the hut and the donkey would conk his head on a board at the top of the hut chasing them...so darn funny at times. In my mind I could always hear that donkey going"Doh".LOL. Blessings to you, hope it cools down some. xoxo, Love, Susie
Horses are beautiful animals. I have to say that I am a bit afraid of them , would not go too near :) Happy MM.
It is too hot here to walk outside and the indoor track I like to walk on is closed this week. Getting out for a drive is always nice. As I am from Lexington Kentucky I of course think it is the best horse capital in the world. :) xo Laura

I love horses and these are gorgeous pictures. We don't have wide open spaces like that in the city. Wish we did.
I would be right at home in Marion County, but I don't think that I could tolerate the heat or the humidity. I don't know which is worth. We have hot summers, but generally a dry heat. A little more tolerable. I do love your horse and donkey photos.
Ocala area is gorgeous with all the greenery and of course the horses!
Thanks for sharing the awesome photos from your drive. The horses are gorgeous and donkeys are special too. Have a nice evening. Hope the humidity improves.
I love watching horses. I don't ride myself anymore but I love to watch a horse run and listen to the sounds of their hooves hit the ground. Always reminds me of a western movie.....
Sorry you haven't been able to hike. We have had a break in our humidity and it is wonderful to open the windows in the evenings. Didn't know you had so many horses down there. I was wondering too how they handle the heat!
I've been thinking about horses a lot lately. ☺ It is wonderful that you have the opportunity to see so many in your travels in the horse capital of the world.
Hi there girlfriend, it was AWFUL HOT here this weekend as well. Mostly we stayed in, and we even painted our hallway!--I was so excited to get that DONE!! Now I can hang the pictures that have been waiting! We've been taking drives as well, if you can't walk....at least we can do that, right!? I cant stand being cooped up at all. I love the horse pictures! I love all the backroads and fields and woods areas in your state, even more than the resorts areas,so much more interesting. Besides--that is where the springs all are....and you know how I LOVE YOUR FLORIDA SPRINGS! I am so fascinated by them and never seen anything like it----til we enjoyed them there. We've been to only two or three I think. I'm sure there are so many more. Here's hoping it cools down for us all soon!
Pretty area!! and love all the horses.
I would never have thought it to be so many horses in Florida. Such a lovely drive you both enjoyed. Hopefully the humidity will lower so you can take your beautiful hikes again.
Too bad about the heat and humidity. At least you were able to get out for a drive. I always love seeing horses.
I am in love with horses. You showed us some beautiful specimens! :) I love driving through and around Ocala, looking at the horse farms. Lovely country!
We didn't realize until we started building our house here that Ocala is a horse capital. We love driving through the horse farm areas. They are sooo beautiful!!
Diane, I didn't know that about Ocala. How fascinating! I love horse farms. So lush and green and the horses always look so majestic! Thank you for sharing. xo
Horses are so beautiful! We got to see some at the fair this past weekend. And I love watching them race. 😊 Kit
Diane - I know how much you enjoy hiking, so I am sorry the heat advisory is keeping you from it. But I am not the least bit surprised that you still got out and about. Gorgeous horses (and donkey). Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday. P.S. Love the header!!!
Your beautiful horses, thanks for sharing Diane
Happy you dropped by my blog. I do hope you add at least one of my childrens books to your collection
Have a good week
Much❤🕊❤love
Horses are so pretty!
Horses are handsome creatures, but I'm partial to the donkey and the mule. :-)
Glad you could get out for a bit. The photos are so cool. I love finding horses but you got a bonus donkey, too!
Wow! The horses are so beautiful Diane, and like you I haven't been able to walk outside for the same reason, and we are under heat advisory this week. We have one horse and eight donkeys, the are such great protectors of our sheep, If another animal dares to cross in to the pasture they will chase it out.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful photos, hope the weather breaks for all of us, Thanks for your visit and sweet comment.
Blessings,
Sue
We drove across that area a couple of years ago and we were amazed by all of the horse farms, Love your peaceful header, Janey
I have been a lover of horses along with my two sisters, ever since I was a little girl. In fact, the three of us would sit in our room for hours on end drawing pictures of them. They are truly one of God's most beautiful creations! How wonderful that you live near these horse farms. We lived near Lexington, KY years ago and they are one of the four you mentioned. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous photos...and yes, I love donkeys too!! :D
I'd better get your lovely pictures off my screen, quick! My horse-loving daughter will see them and want to visit! ;)
Hello Diane
it's great to see these horses. Where you live are always beautiful estates where many horses can be. The donkey is also a very nice animal and you have photographed this nicely.
Thank you for sharing.
Dear greetings, Helma
Those horse farms really are incredible ...and Ocala definitely deserves that title....and wow sorry about the humidity!
Love the horses! The one my daughter had smelled wonderful, too.
Didn't know I'd missed blogging so much until one day i opened it again after a year. I've missed many things especially your difficulty. So glad you're back as your posts are always so refreshing! Thank you!
What an amazing place to live in. I would be so very happy to see horses all over the place.
