Being Thankful

I like taking part in Thankful Thursday every week. It gives me a chance to stop and focus on my many blessings.

It's been a difficult couple of months for all of us.

The flowers have been blooming

and the weather has been picture perfect.

But life is not without times of sadness.

My precious Mother in law passed away this week and now we are spending time every day remembering her life...a life well spent. She was a wonderful person and inspired us all with her intelligence and generosity. She was a joy to spend time with and she will never be forgotten.

This is one of my favorite photos of the two of us, taken in May, 10 years ago when we were celebrating her special birthday at the Biltmore Estate. What a beautiful lady...inside and out.

We are thankful for so many things this week and count our blessings even during the sad times.

All of the wildflowers in this post are Hatpins! They were blooming all along the trail in a boggy area deep in the woods.

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays.

Hello Diane. I have so neglected my friends at the Garden Spot. I just ran out of things to write about, but I'm checking in this morning and I am so sorry to read that you have lost her mother-in-law. I supposed that is especially these times that we take note of our blessings. The loss of our mother is a hard loss, but the lessons she taught and the memories she leaves bring comfort and she will be with you always.

Oh, Diane, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother in law. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your husband and family during this time of sorrow. We said good-bye to my MIL about a year and a half ago, and it was hard. We had a good relationship, and I still miss her. It's always hard to lose a mother so close to Mother's Day also. My mother passed away 14 years ago today, and I remember it was right before Mother's Day then as now. But we have such memories to treasure in our hearts. Love the "hatpins"? I never heard them called that before. We have some here along our pond shore. They are really cute. (((hugs))) to you today.

Happy Friday, Diane! ♥
I love that you are purposing to count your blessings! Beautiful weather and blooms is definitely something to be thankful for! Last week we entered a new phase of lockdown, so now we can exercise in our neighbourhood each mornings between 6am and 9am...oh, it feels SO good to be able walk again, especially as we are enjoying the most beautiful Autumn weather at the moment!
Oh, Diane...I am so sorry to hear about your mother in law. How wonderful that she lived such a full life and was a sweet joy and blessing to those around her!
Thinking of you...♥

Diane,

I 'm writing this on May 13th. I somehow missed this post when it was written (just busy here, I guess). I have seen small indications in your more recent posts that the past week has been "difficult", sensing a possible reference to more than just COVID.

I read your posts in backwards order and came to this one about the passing of your dear mother-in-law. I am so sorry for your loss.

The day you wrote this post was the 34th anniversary of the passing of my father, so this is a poignant time for both of us. Death just doesn't seem to "fit" in Springtime when there is so much newness of life all around us.

The timing of the opening of some of the good hiking spots here could not have come at a better time for you because I know your spirit is refreshed greatly when you are able to walk in the great outdoors with your camera in hand.

May the Lord continue to comfort you and your husband, all of your family. The photo you shared of you with your mother-in-law is beautiful.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law, Diane. This is a very nice picture of both of you. You will always have those special memories of her, and she will be in your heart always. My Mother-in-law passed away recently as well, but she lived a long life, in her 90's. Thinking of you today and sending thoughts of comfort and love.
