What can you buy for 68 cents?

We are still buying our groceries online at Walmart and then picking them up! It has worked great for us and we are getting most of what we need. We still shop at Publix for bakery bread and meat.

So when we looked at toilet paper on the Walmart site, we were surprised to see this for 68 cents, limit one! We put one in the cart! It's small....almost 'travel size' but it will be easy to store. We need to stay 'stocked up' on all the necessities!

I've had a quiet week but that's good. My big outing this week is a trip to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned. I'm overdue for my appointment and I really need to get them cleaned for healthy teeth and gums! I worried about going....but then decided it was necessary!

And we've prepared some good meals this week. I made hamburger buns again for our Memorial Day cookout. Recipe HERE! We had hamburgers and potato wedges with onions browned in the skillet. We shared with Aunt Helen and she enjoyed it too!

Another day, I made a chicken sandwich with melted Havarti cheese on a bun, potato chips with low salt on the side!

How are you faring this week? Anything you've ventured out to do that was fun? My friend, L. sent me the photo of the ocean today! They are enjoying a few days at the beach. That's on my 'to do' list for SURE!!! (I started my post with the photo she sent instead of a package of toilet paper. Wasn't that nice of me?)

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays and

I like Thursdays HERE too!

I ventured out for flowers! It was quite something.
My husband does groceries Thursday mornings at 8 a.m., when they have seniors time. I can't drive with my cataracts. It's crazy.

Oh that chicken sandwich looks yummy. And I just ate my breakfast.

I wish that I could order my groceries the way you do, but my Wal*Mart does not
offer that service. Their pharmacy does, though, so I appreciate that.

starting with TP is the way to go these days, in all my 75 years I have never had more than a pack of 6 rolls for one bathroom a pack of 8 for the other. when they got down to 2 rolls i bought the same again. now i have 2 packs of 24 in a closet in addition to the regular. i can't believe there was anything at all on the site for 68 cents. wow. I love burger buns and did read the recipe.. all the bread on that post looks yummy... you are about an hour from our favorite beach in all of Florida and we miss it. Ormond Beach for many years was our vacation choice in May and Oct. same room in the same Inn on the same beach twice a year. the photo makes me yearn for it. we have not been since 2005 when we got Jake from the streets and had 3 dogs to leave behind.
nothing fun done here, shopped for food at the last senior shopping hour. now i have to join others or do what you do. I despise ordering food so will be mingling. I have also decided i will now start going to PetSmart for dog food, Home depot for pool filter dirt, and Amazon shopping will be for what i can't find. I need to get OUT

So happy you are eating all that wonderful food. I am so tired of my own cooking!! If my children don't shop for me, I order my groceries delivered from Food Lion. I like that a lot. I may keep it up even after the pandemic is gone... is it ever gonna be gone?????

We love the Walmart curbside pickup and had been doing it long before this whole virus business. I'm waiting for email notification as I type this, to pickup my order. I was wanting a new pillow (just a cheapo one) but they were out (I requested no substitution because I didn't want a rock-hard pillow instead), as was a new shower curtain I wanted (didn't want a substitution on that either as lordy knows what I would have gotten). But other than that, all is good. They substituted "select-a-size" Bounty paper towels, for the full sheet Bounty I ordered, but that's perfectly alright.... I feel lucky to be getting the paper towels at all. As far as toilet paper I finally had to order 92 rolls (!!!) from Amazon... so I guess we're good on TP for the year (or more). *LOL* We use one-ply because of having a septic tank & that hasn't been available from Walmart in quite some time. So what the heck. Love, Andrea xoxo

Wow! That's a great buy. I'll be venturing out maybe tomorrow for the first time since the middle of March. My SIL is going to come get me and we'll take my car out for a ride. I'll see if he'll take me to the Home Depot nursery so that I can buy some new plants. That would be an awesome day out for nme. You enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.

Your chicken sandwich looks yummy! I am currently munching on a salad for lunch after consuming way too many potato chips in the last few weeks.
Nice score on the TP.

Joe went to Sam's Club a couple of days ago and got right in. No standing in line! They had all the paper products we needed so we are now stocked up again on TP, towels, tissues, and napkins. He also got a full case of spring water. It felt good to see the bathroom linen closet full of what we need again! LOL... especially with hurricane season upon us. More hoarding ahead!

To get a pack of toilet paper for 68 cents is quite a deal. My hubby was saying today we ought to keep one in the car for emergencies when out for a walk in the woods! LOL. Might be a good idea for you too, since you take so many walks in the woods. Ha Ha. Now on to better subjects. Love the chicken sandwich on your homemade bun! That looks wonderful!!! I've never tried baking buns before. That sure sounds good. And the ocean pic is lovely too. I'm about ready for a trip to the beach!! We do our grocery shopping here locally in our little town at our Hitchcock's store. It is never crowded and they have most everything we need and we don't have to travel all the way to Walmart and stand in line at the door. I haven't tried online shopping for groceries. But with this store so handy, it works for us. One of the benefits of small town living. Thank you for your enjoyable posts always!! Have a blessed week.

I was happy with my first try at ordering from WM online and picking it up. It all went well, a few things could not be had, but I will get them from a friend tomorrow. I finally got some TP, this a kind that turns out to be for camping and also good for septic systems, so I'm sure it will work fine for me.

Your food look so good.

I ventured out to the Dollar Store and Publix today--
I made a quick trip around the Dollar store--I was mainly looking for containers for fabric and sewing items--it was so 'stinky' in there that I could hardly breathe--(all the scented candles and such they carry) couldn't wait to get out--the checkout clerk had no mask on--most of the customers did and most were trying to social distance--but it is hard inside the aisles are so narrow--! Publix was again alot of people with masks--most of us followed arrows (but I did go the wrong way on one aisle-opps!!) and again though the clerk has no mask on though nearly all the rest of the store employees did wear one!!
I also love their bread and seafood dept there!!
OH the biggest news is--they finally had my brand of toilet tissue for the first time since the end of February!!! so I am a happy camper!!!!!!
I have not been brave enough to go to walmart-I do just order things on line there for shipping so far--
take care--luv, di

Hi Diane, I surely did love the delicious hamburger on the delicious home made bun, and the yummy potato wedges with browned onions-they really melted in my mouth! I am so fortunate that you live just down the block. Lucky me!! Love, Aunt Helen

Hahaha! Yes, I loved the beach photo! Sometimes I forget until I have already published about the first photo in the post!
Louis Dean likes to make his own hamburger buns! He gets frustrated because all the ones you buy ready made are so small.
All your meals look so very good!

Thanks so much for visiting my new blog. Your food looks/sounds delicious. I've been going into the grocery store in our small town with my mask and gloves. I am cooking all of our meals at home. It gets tiring! lol I did venture out for a hair cut yesterday and boy, does it feel good after all these weeks!

Luckily, we are not short of toilet paper. It is produced here in Green Bay and shipped all over.
Your food looks good. We are staying safe and using careful methods when grocery shopping, too.
Happy Thursday- xo Diana

Well, I went to the dentist too...but it was because I broke a tooth! Tom and I also had to go to a county office downtown to pick up a document...but there weren’t many people to be seen anywhere! Other that that I too have been cooking a lot and trying to beat hubby at gin rummy.

We head to our home in the mountains the end of June which will be a month late...but I am still busy with physical therapy.

Stay safe....💕 Janey

Who knew that toilet paper would be such a "thing". lol My dentist appointment is coming up next month. They haven't canceled it yet... we'll see what happens. Glad you got your teeth cleaned!

Your dinner looks so good! The toilet paper cracks me up. It's so hard to find, we take whatever size we can get!

Jeannie said...

I also went to the dentist for a cleaning this past week. It was a work-in because I had nagged them so much. Due to the changing rules during the lockdown, they had canceled my appointment three times. I was not happy but it wasn't their fault. I did take them flowers to show my appreciation for being worked-in. I said the flowers were for the person who made the decision to pick me to fill the vacated appointment. All the ladies in the office claimed to be the one who deserved the flowers.

yep, plain 'ole toilet paper is LIKE GOLD these days isn't it??!!! haha LOL. You and I do so many things just alike---we also just bought new sheets, LOL!--ours are pink floral print, I love them! Mr. Front Porch said he didn't care if they were flowers or even IF THEY WERE PINK....you cant see them underneath the bedspread anyway, plus we shut our eyes and sleep---we dont sit and look at the floral sheets..........ha ha ha ha LOL!! What kind and what color did y'all get? We so rarely buy sheets!!!, we have a King size bed and we just use sheets til they are plum WORN OUT I guess, then we have to buy new ones, LOL. So anyway....it WAS TIME to buy new ones. Our thrift stores are opening back up i think this weekend. But there are so many rules and regulations!! You can't even GO INSIDE....you have to schedule an appointment prior and then get 'approved' then you can go in. You have to have mask and gloves. And you are allowed only 45 minutes to SHOP and 15 minutes to pay/check out. No ifs ands or buts, LOL. And if you show up 5 minutes late to your appointment....you forfeit it to the next customer in line. So anyway.......we 've not been yet. Not sure if I can keep all the new restrictions straight........hahaha!! How are the thrift stores there and what are the rules. (oh, and the fitting rooms are CLOSED. I don't care about that anyway...I can size/guess pretty accurately and hardly ever try on clothes anyway) I think alot of people might be afraid to purchase clothing right now anyway....with the virus life on materials/surfaces etc---but they say just plain ole washing in the regular washing machine takes care of that.

OH PS......... thank you for the compliment on my ring and bracelets. You know, those old bracelets were popular many many years ago and I saved mine. I call them "marble bracelets". I have several in different colors. I pulled those out yesterday and decided I like them plenty enough to wear them again, even tho they are "out of style" now. I don't pay much attention to in or out of style anyway....I just wear what makes me happy! EXCEPT FOR...........the "white rule" about not wearing white pants, white skirts, white dresses, white shoes 'til after Memorial Day!! hahaha LOL. I do keep that old fashioned rule, it was taught to me by my very Southern Mama and very Southern Ma-Maw when I was a little little girl. LOL The only "exceptions" were wearing white before Memorial day is ok IF YOU ARE A BRIDE, or playing tennis. Ha Ha ---back then........waaaaaaaay back then--ladies wore white tennis dresses and white sneakers to play tennis. Ha ha ---that rule doesn't even apply anymore does it?--people play tennis in a rainbow of colors these days.

Hello Diane,

The view of the ocean is beautiful, I wish I was there. Your chicken sandwich looks yummy. That seems like a cheap price for toilet paper.
Good luck at the dentist. Thanks for sharing the recipe for the rolls.
I have been to a few stores and can not find yeast. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend!

Looks like you are eating well! I do all the shopping, arriving at the store early when the time is set aside for seniors, and it works perfectly. Often I am the first person in the store and sometimes the only one. We have found everything we need. I wouldn't mind if this routine carries on even after the Coronavirus - but I suspect it will be a long time before we are looking at it through the rear view mirror. Our local famers market is set to reopen so I am looking forward to that.

Seems you had a resourceful week! Doing what needs to be done is what keeps me busy too. I'd probably be doing frivolous things, but today I'm spending more time getting things done around the house! Take care and stay safe!

Oh, you make me laugh what you said at the end about the toilet paper hehehe. It's good that you found some. Yes, we have to get it when we can. Your chicken sandwich with melted cheese looks delicious. The ocean photo your friend sent you is beautiful. I have been longing to go to the ocean. I can't believe when I hear about the crowds that have been swarming at the ocean. It concerns me. But Jess lives only 5 minutes from the ocean, and she has found little pockets of places that are bare and it brings her peace to spend time there.

Have a blessed weekend, Diane. Your Header is so pretty. It really spoke to me today.

We do the online ordering and pickup too from our big grocery store and Walmart and it works great. We also did that for our flower order at the nursery and also at the hardware store. Meanwhile it sure is wonderful to get out in nature and I find this time of year, always something to spy that is new and interesting. It really is as you say, good for what ails you!

We went to Sam's Club yesterday (early opening for seniors on Tues and Thurs). Found hand sanitizer and masks! Both had limits, one to a customer, but we were thrilled to get them. Also bought paper towels, bottled water, Cheerios (I eat a bowlful every day!), a large bag of shelled pecans, a case of Ensure nutritional drink, and a 10-pack of cream of mushroom soup.
Have a wonderful weekend!

The food sounds great...and so does 68c TP! Gosh. Dentists ( for cleaning and non-emergency) and beauty shops both just reopened here and I need to see both, but guess which one I’m most excited about!
