The wildflowers are bright and colorful growing along the highways here in North Central Florida right now.
I think most of the fuchsia pink is Phlox!
And I know the red is Dockweed!
There are other wildflowers popping up in the woods and pretty sights every time we hike.
They make pretty mosaics I think!
We've gone on some of our usual hiking trails but also a few we rarely hike.
Several of you are afraid we'll see an alligator up close and personal. But I would be more afraid to see a Wild Hog. (we've seen a few at a distance over the years) This week we HEARD the squeal of a Banshee...probably a wild hog. I picked up my pace and set a record time for getting back to the car! hahaha!

Oh yes a wild boar would be as scary as an alligator and they are faster I think. I am sure you are watchful as you take your hikes. We have so many pretty flowers and trees blooming right now. Spring has sprung.

so true about those hogs, you dont want to meet one. the gators don't bother you if you don't bother them, but those hogs will.. the flox are my favorite. as a child we played in fields of flocks

Colourful indeed! All so pretty and what a treat for me as it will be awhile before these eyes of mine get to see such pretty blooms. Wildflowers always amaze me. Yikes, wild boar sounds scary. At home in Newfoundland we sometimes wore a bear bell while berry picking, not that there has ever been a black bear attack recorded there, but you just don't want to run into them. Would a bear bell help do you think?

A baby bull was born next door. Neighbor Bob "stole" my ravens, he feeds them and they, of course, are no dummies. I'm still in their territory, but it's clear where they prefer to stay. The ground squirrels are waking up from their winter's sleep. I almost hit the road runner as she ran across my road the other day. That's about it for my wild life adventures. Have a nice rest of the day, my friend.
I miss all the wildflowers up in that area, so beautiful! Definitely be careful of those wild hogs!
You already know how I worry about your hikes . . . do be careful, always! I love seeing wildflowers, they are beautiful surprises along lives sometimes grey and dreary highway.

Nothing wild here but I sure enjoyed your photos!!
We have a variety of wild creatures here in the Southwest. The most favorite that I have seen is a coatamundi on its travels. Its tail was UNREAL, like a giant transparent puff.
Oh, that purple! I could lie down in that field of flowers. Probably not for long but wouldn't it be fun to try?!

There are wild boar roaming the hillsides in our county. I'm very happy to see them from a distance while sitting in the car. :-) Love your mosaics, Diane.

You saw all the snow we got--almost 2 feet--on my blog but today quite a bit melted with warmer temperatures. If the snow season keeps giving us moisture we will also have a pretty wildflower season like you are seeing, I love the purple color of these flowers!

Nothing to report from up here in the deep freeze. I wouldn't want to run into a wild boar either! Pretty wildflowers. Phlox is so dainty and lovely.

What beautiful colour in your photos today. Here trees look quite drab, but there are pops of colour from daffodils and croci starting to come out. Nothing too wild here, today! I'll keep my eyes peeled this week.
Oh, I would NOT want to run into a wild hog/boar. They are scary looking. I also don't want to run into wild dogs or coyotes. Funny, when we lived in Salt Springs, we had bears roaming about our house and road frequently. I was always excited to see them, as long as I was at a safe distance (or in the house). One time I had a closer encounter than I'd bargained for and I was alone, walking in the road in front of our house. But I made lots of noise and told him to go back in the woods and he stared at me for a while to try and figure out why I was yelling and pointing at the woods...and finally he decided I wasn't worth the effort to tackle, and he went into the woods like a good bear. I waited until he was safely in the woods and then I made a run for the house.
From then on I always had my bear whistle, and I rarely ever went outside alone further than our front yard. Here at our new house we have birds and neighborhood cats that we chase off so they don't get our birds. That's about it. boring. Ha! I love your wildflowers!!
What lovely scenes of wild flowers! I love the mosaic # 4 and 5, fascinating! I love the cute bird photo with nice light bokeh background in the header, too. Wild hog must be really scary. Wild boars sometimes appear from mountain to residential area at its foot, though I haven’t encountered them.

The real Florida is looking beautiful! I came across a wild hog once while walking a trail behind an RV park where we were staying. I swear almost died of fright.

The wildflowers are just beautiful. We have seen the wild hogs on the trails, they ran off so fast. They must have been shy critters. Take care, enjoy your day!

I don't think I've ever seen a wild hog before haha. The fuchsia flowers are so pretty growing wild on the side of the highway. They really look like Springtime. I think Spring comes a bit later here in the mountains, and we just had our third snowfall since moving here. It was a big one too. Isn't that red Dockweed lovely? So many wonderful things in nature.

i am frightened of alligators, they seem to move quickly and also lunge at people! my wild reporting was the wild fires we have been experiencing in our little town!!

I had to look up "Banshee" because I didn't think they were real and was wondering if there was a bird/creature in Florida by went by that name. Then I had to read your post again to catch your meaning. No, it wasn't a real (folklore) banshee but sounded like one. Gosh. Until I get my morning coffee drunk, nothing in my brain works.
