Cool Hiking in March!

We've had some hikes in the 60s and 70s this week which is 'cool' for us here in Florida! I had to wear long sleeves one day! lol

We went to Blue Run Park one day and the river looked dreamy.

And there were critters and birds galore.

This Moorhen is wondering if that fishing lure is any good! lol

This Little Blue Heron is on what we call the Alligator log!

Later we went back by and the Great Blue Heron was on the same log! hhhmmmm!

Of course there were a few real gators here and there!

And isn't the head of this Pileated Woodpecker amazing!

Another day we hiked the Florida trails and saw the most beautiful dragonfly.

I think it's a Common Darner. (I'll update if someone knows for sure!)

We are staying busy. And just when I thought I was getting a little better control over things, my computer said the disk was full. So I've spent the week saving photos to a thumbdrive and to the cloud so that I can get a lot of them off my computer! So that I can take MORE! lol

Happy March! Enjoy your weekend!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

What beautiful photos you have shared. I would not be able to take a good photo of the gators, I would be shaking like a leaf!

Hello,

I would love temp's in the 60-70's, my kind of walking weather. You do see some great birds and critters there. I especially love the Little Blue heron and the Pileated Woodie. The blossoms are pretty. Great collection of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend! PS, thank you for visiting and leaving me a comment.

Hi Diane!
I always enjoy your walks, but seeing a alligator in your photos really scares me!
Very nice pictures today!
Enjoy your weekend!

You are so lucky to see so many critters and birds of all kinds on your walks. I will keep my eyes open on my walk today, but I'm sure there will not be very many about.

Love dragonflies!

And those blossoms in the last photo.

I know that a lot of people, keep all the photos they take.

I do not.

So I like to ask, why do you keep them all? For what purpose? Do you expect to need to find a certain one, at some future time? Or, what is your individual purpose in keeping all of them?

I'm not being *snarky*!!!! I really would like to know.

Please and thank you.

Great assortment of photos. I especially liked seeing the flowers. It's still too early for that here in Connecticut, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. :-)

...neat and bitterly cold walking here!

Beautiful creatures there as you enjoy all that Florida sunshine. I don't think we have moor hens here but we definitely have the pileated woodpeckers and the herons. Always so interesting to view new to me birds vicariously. Thanks for sharing them!

Hello Dianne:=) The river does look dreamy, in such a beautiful and tranquil setting, and the log does look like an alligator.:=)) Lovely post with so many sightings of birds, great captures, (love the red head of the woody.)

Oh that is a beautiful picture of the dragon fly....you have such patience to get the perfect picture. Marvin is the same way. And yes, pictures pictures pictures. So glad there are such things as thumb drives.

Love your hikes. I have been out walking myself this week. IT got sunny at the end of the week and I couldn't come it. It is warmer which is nice, but I am still wearing a long sleeve blouse as well.

Nice walk with plenty of critters to see. You need to get a portable laptop hard drive cost about $60 for a 1TB one and stores loads of photos

I'll take your temps now. Not above freezing up here in NH today. We do have a warm up coming next week with one day maybe getting to 60. This will mean all the snow and ice will melt as will the frozen mud. Our first experience with mud season. Loving your photos. Do you carry a long telephoto lens with you when you walk?

These are beautiful photos you took on your walk.
We call the little blue heron purple heron and it is hardly found in the Netherlands.
You see a lot of the common heron and the moorhen in the Netherlands.
Greetings Irma

That log DOES look like a 'gator. Love the river scene & super birds sighted (some books call the moorhen a common gallinule...I like moorhen better, it's easier to pronounce & spell...lol)
For taking time from your day to share your photos with us at IRBB, I send along my thanks!

A long sleeved top? Wait until you have to wear five layers LOL. You find lots of good stuff on your hikes and even the Gators would be acceptable to me.

Looks like they were lovely hikes. I would be afraid of the gator!

That log really does resemble an alligator. I think we all have far too many photographs saved. Most of them we will never look at ever again.

Wonderful photos! It's so nice seeing open water!!!
I've been pruning my photos like mad. The kids won't want them. When I make my annual calendars I try to use the previous year photos. I have a better time with this than decluttering my house!

I love all the photos. That alligator log really is interesting. I would love some days in the 60's and 70's. Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.

Oh so pretty!! We saw a lot of dragonflies out this week too...like they just woke up from a long winter's nap! Beautiful birds and even the alligator is beautiful in its own way...as long as he stays OUT of MY way! LOL. I know, my memory card in my camera was full all of a sudden so I had to clear it out and start over. I should save more to a flash drive rather than just in my computer...you gave me a good warning!! I would hate to lose a lot of my pictures. Enjoy this beautiful day...breezy and cool, but sunny!!

Great pictures, love seeing them! I love "going along" on your hikes with y'all, I always get to see something new. Love the bird pictures.....they sure like sitting on that alligator log, don't they? I love watching birds, they are so entertaining. Or maybe I am just getting OLD??!! ha ha LOL. Any luck getting your pictures transferred over? I hate that when that happens on my phone or computer.....space full etc. Almost 100 percent it's always PICTURES taking up the room, because I take so many. LOL. Are there any new baby alligators there yet? I havent' spotted any here yet, I think it's yet too early. Happy new week, my friend! May you go on many great hikes! Hugs!

lol, you found a lot of nice critters on your hike. Loved to see the Moorhen and the Little Blue heron. You even had a dragonfly. :) I think it will take a bit mpre then a month before our first ones will awake this season. We are still in the end of winter, beginning of spring. We had a little snow today. And a few more cold days will come.

Take care!

Long sleeve weather in Florida is cold this time of year ... here it is unseasonably warm this time of year ! Sure is nice not to have to bundle up though! I miss little blue herons .

Oh Yes, that pileated woodpecker IS amazing! Such a beautiful bird. And I love that dragonfly photo. They always look like they have a smiling face. I have another blog friend who takes pictures of them often. They're so interesting to look at. It's nice to de-clutter our photo albums now and then to make room for new ones. ; ) So glad you are working on that project.
