It's exciting to get out in nature and wonder what marvelous thing you will
see. And yes, every time you hike you see something amazing.
We saw this Yellow-billed Cuckoo bird (above photo cropped) on a hike this
week at the very beginning of a hike.
And we only got to take 3 photos. I took one of him in a tree,
hubby took him in flight...
and then I saw where he landed. (he took off right after this) We were
hoping to see him again but we didn't. And we were also hoping the photos we
took were in focus!
A yellow-billed cuckoo bird...I love the sound of that!
And when we hiked at the 49th Ave trailhead of the Florida trails, hubby
saw this deer in the woods at the same time the deer saw him.
They both stopped in their tracks.
We watched it grooming itself and acting very nonchalant! lol
We decided it was waiting for us to go on down the trail so that it could
cross the trail.
And just as we walked on, a bike came and he stopped too.
You never know what you'll see around the next bend. So get out there in
nature for some excitement!
It's a beautiful time of year to explore!
Do you have a favorite trail or park to visit?

Well I would love to see that bird. Don't think I have ever seen one. The deer is just so pretty. He is used to hikers for sure.
Hello,
Awesome shots of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, one of my many favorite birds.
Your deer images are cute too. It is chilly here but nice walking hiking weather. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend.
ISn't that bird just so pretty! So happy you two got those captures. My deer have been around the property too. They are quiet but vigilant.
...beautiful captures, but no gaters?
All your photos are fantastic! Deer are getting a little too comfortable around people here...They're going up on people's porches and decks eating flowers!
I've never seen a Cuckoo in the wild. What a fun bird to find!
Hello Diane,:=) I always enjoy your posts, because I feel your excitement, and good to be alive Kind of attitude, and you always come up with the goods. Great shots of the Yellow-billed cuckoo bird. Beautiful shots of the deer, but that last shot is truly Awesome.

Always grateful to my blogging friends who share photos such as these. Nature is marvelously soothing and exciting, always something new to see. The deer is so sweet and the Yellow-billed cuckoo bird is one I have never seen before. Beautiful captures!
Wonderful shots, Diane. You captured them beautifully. What treasures you discover on your walks!
Yellow-billed Cuckoo bird does roll nicely off the tongue. He's a pretty little thing, too. Deer are such graceful creatures - I enjoy them in the wild, not so much in the city.
We've been walking at night lately and there is little to see! Sometimes we hear an owl. Happy weekend, Diane.
I have never seen a Cuckoo bird! It sounds quite exotic!
Your Yellow billed Cuckoo was great find. And you were quick to the shutter button to get those pics Diane. Wild deer are impossible to get close to here in the UK. You did a good job again.
Gorgeous deer photos and love the little cuckoo billed feathered friend ~ great nature photography ~ Xo

Oh My! The Yellow Billed Cuckoo is a great find! I've never seen one of those before! And you did get great photos!! Wonderful! And I love the deer. I am always excited when I see one, and especially when they stand still long enough for me to get a good picture! You were blessed to get both of these beauties on this hike!! Thank you for sharing them with us!
i just adore the beautiful captures of the deer, we see a lot of them when we bike on our trails. the cuckoo is such a pretty bird, nice focus on the images as well!! enjoy your weekend, it is suppose to be really nice...and warm here too!!
So nice. So amazing. Thanks for sharing your world with me.
What a lovely encounter, the deer must be used to people, it didn't seem scared at all.
That bird is absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful meeting you had with the deer
Lovely sights on your hike. I like the picture of the deer with that piece of grass in her mouth.
You both take very good photos!
I use to think cuckoo birds were made for clocks. lol
That bird has the most beautiful white chest. Amazing. I can watch deer out my window. I hope they are making themselves scarce now that hunting season has arrived.
I didn't even know cuckoos lived in the U.S.! What a pretty bird. Its eye is so intelligent looking. So big! And then the deer! I guess it was a doe? She struck some good poses! Just amazing. You see a lot on those trails. No two hikes are the same. My favorite places to go are the university test gardens and downtown and the old tiny village near here, Mesilla. I see something new EVERY time, even though it's mainly city scapes.
Great pictures. Hugs.
Beautiful captures all!
Yellow-billed Cuckoo is always a great bird to encounter.
The cuckoo is such an elusive bird...you got great photos of it!! As is the deer photos. Wow, Diane.
Thank you for stopping by to add your link from here for all of us at IRBB.
You got very nice shots of the bird. The eyes look very similar to Black bird's.

What a lovely set of photos from your recent hike. Such a pretty bird, and I loved the pics of the deer.
Wishing you a great week ahead, Diane!
They are lovely photographs of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and how lovely to see the deer, they are such a good looking animal.
All the best Jan
I enjoyed seeing the Yellow-Billed Cuckoo and your local deer. The deer where I live are so used to humans they don't flinch when we come near, in fact, they come into our yards and make themselves at home..lol We have many miles of trails in our neighborhood which have also been a pleasure to enjoy
Wish we could join you in your interesting hike. Love the close up pic of the deer.
You got some beautiful shots. Thanks so. much for sharing them and also thanks for identifying the bird. I am always in awe when I see animals and birds in nature .
You two are such good photographers and you have great karma -- if I had been there I can pretty much guarantee my quick snapped pic would have been out of focus. But I would have been delighted just to see the cuccoo. How wonderful. Thanks for sharing. And the deer portraits are perfect!
That cuckoo is a beauty! And I just love seeing photos of deer. They can be so elusive. And so lovely.
glad you got some shots of the yellow-billed cuckoo bird. It is very nice looking. Even it´s tail as I saw in the branches. :) This is a bird I would put in my top ten list if I was to travel again. :)
Nice meeting with the deer. :) Not often they stay put like that.
Oh, that sweet deer. She looks like a big one too. What a blessing for you both to have seen her. Yes, they remain calm, but they always know their surroundings. I've seen them a lot living in the mountains, so am getting to know their character. They are truly special animals. That yellow-billed Cuckoo bird is the sweetest bird. So glad you saw so many interesting and special things in the woods on this hike of yours. : )
Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend, dear friend. It's always a pleasure to see your lovely photos each and every time.

My youngest son called this week and said he almost saw a deer. Confused, I asked him to clarify. He was driving his truck and saw a blur go across the right front fender. He checked the camera and it was a deer flying over the front of his truck. He said he never saw it coming and he must have missed by a few inches.
Even when they are standing quietly beside the trail, don't trust them. They love to jump in front of you!

Todo lo que viste es precioso, me gustó el cuco, por aquí creo que no los hay. Besos.
