Inglis Lock Recreation Area

I was planning a post to show the wildflowers we are seeing now in North Central Florida. The forest is bursting with tiny blooms and blossoms. We even saw Cactus in bloom this week.

But then we drove out to the Inglis Locks and I just had to show you what we saw there.

I'll start with the MOST exciting sighting!

A Glossy Ibis

We see a lot of Ibis here. (the White Ibis have walked through our yard more than once this week)

He was near the locks and hard to get good contrast! All that green grass and blue sky that we LOVE here in Florida!

We rarely see the Glossy Ibis and usually when we do it is in a field and we can't get a good photo.

It was a beautiful day.

I even talked to some fishermen and they were catching lots of Bluegill fish.

So sit back and relax and I'll walk all around and take photos.

(I made a new banner but I don't want to take my humming bird down yet!)

Halloween Pennant Dragonfly

Little Blue Heron (juvenile is white!)

Cormorants (Male and Female)

When we got ready to leave, I spotted something odd in the top of a pine tree.

Someone crashed their model airplane into a pine. Oh my!

One more Halloween Pennant dragonfly up close.

Did you watch any of the choo choo train webcams this week?

Click on the train icon at the top of my blog and ENJOY!

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays and

I like Thursdays HERE too!

This is a beautiful series of photos and collages.
The Glossy Ibis is especially great, we don't see this species in the Netherlands.

I have never even heard of a glossy ibis. What a neat sighting. As always your photos are wonderful. Makes me wish I was there.

I did watch one for about half an hour. Why? I don't know. It was relaxing at the time.

The Glossy Ibis is a handsome fellow and you captured some good pics. You have an eagle
eyefor odd things in treetops. What a bummer for someone to have lost his plane.

I like your hummingbird header a lot.

Hi Diane,
I’m writing this comment during the one hour per day I’ve allocated to following some of my favorite blogs. Otherwise, I’m off the internet and social media for the next few weeks. I really enjoyed this post. Your photos are wonderful, and like you, I love the blue sky and green grass you enjoy in Florida. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures and sharing your photos. Thank you so much for your comment on my most recent post on John’s Island. You are so kind! Hope you have a fine week ahead!

The Glossy Ibis is so regal looking! I can see why the Egyptians loved them. The dragonfly reminds me of a monarch butterfly with its orange stripe colors. So beautiful!
Have a wonderful week Diane.

Those Glossy Ibis are pretty and a lot less common than the White variety. I like the way they change in varied light.

Diane - so happy that you saw a Glossy Ibis and that you could get some great shots! Actually, I like all the photos except I feel sorry for the person who crashed that little plane! I regret to say that I have not watched any of the choo-choos. It's been busy getting ready for our trip! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

Thank you so much for sharing the sights at the Inglis Lock area!

So much to see and enjoy. When the light hits the sides of a Glossy Ibis it reminds me of mother-of-pearl. Now that you've mentioned bluegills, we need to go fishing.

Have a great week!

Pretty pretty brilliant blue skies Diane! And such pretty water and reflections. Love seeing all the pretty wild flowers and the birds. You are great getting captures of dragonflies...I am not so lucky but have only got a few that are decent. LOL Wow, we had a cold spell here last week and I think y'all maybe got it too? It sure was GREAT WALKING WEATHER, I loved it, loved the cool BREEZES instead of the hot and humid which I know is coming soon! We even had to get out our jackets!

WOW dear Diane,
that was truly a very fruitful trip to the Inglis Locks! Beautiful, these ibises! Are they also as loud as the Hadada ibis I met in South Africa? At our B&B in Harrismith we were woken up loudly by these birds every morning, the first time we were very startled by the shrill cry! :-DDD Your photos of the Halloween Pennant Dragonfly are also wonderful - I didn't know them before :-) - and of the other animals and the beautiful landscape.
Uh-oh, the owner of the model airplane must have been frustrated after the crash...
All the best and SERVUS from Austria

What great shots of the Glossy Ibis. Such a stately looking bird who looks like he enjoyed having his picture taken. The Locks are beautiful in your photos - a great place for a walk.

The ibis photos are super-cool! :D I wanted to tell you that my sister in law bought a cute Jeep like yours in a matte gray color. She lives on the coast in Mississippi, and there's a local Jeep club!

Those Dragonflies are so cool looking. I love their big eyes. The Glossy Ibis is pretty also. Looks like a lovely day for a hike with blue skies. I thought Spring came here, but this week we had rain, hail, sleet, and snow. I'll take it all. We need the rain in California, and we're getting quite a bit right now. It's always a pleasure seeing your wonderful nature photos, Diane. And it's nice that you have an eye for things that are small or hidden. Keep taking those fantastic photos.

ps.....I loved the Hummingbird and the Eagle on your previous post, but the White Butterfly was my favorite. What a blessing it was for you to see that. I am wondering if they like the warm weather. I used to see them in So Cal when I lived there.
