Winter Warmth in Florida

We have a few cold days but we are warmer than most states in the winter. Today it is supposed to be 80 degrees and we are headed to the Pruitt Trailhead to hike the Halpata Tastanaki Preserve trails.

I know many of you feel like you've been there before but there's always something interesting to see.

Someone asked me what my most favorite trail was and this was it.

Of course there are so many directions you can take.

And it changes from month to month....

sometimes from week to week.

Flycatcher

So these are some neat sightings from HTP in January.

Stork (not a good photo but I wanted to include him)

We saw hundreds of Tree Swallows.

They are hard to photograph too!

Yellow-rumped Warbler aka butter-butt

We like to drive over there at least once a week and we spend 2 hours there at least when we go.

So Vee....how about hiking HTP with me today? (She was concerned that I took all my photos from the Jeep! lol)

I probably won't be doing this any time soon!

Hang glider

Or go for a ride in this!

Canard

There's a small airport nearby!

American Kestrel

I'm still celebrating my birthday weekend and eating birthday brownies.

I'll save you one to eat when we finish our hike!

Come on down! Sunshine and brownies....and HTP!

It's always fun to get outside and enjoy nature!

I'm joining Mosaic Monday HERE

and I like Thursdays HERE !

...I'll keep both of my feet on the ground, thank you!

I join Tom, feet always on the ground, except for wheeled vehicles. the weather has been super duper, even the cold days were wonderful. Dec through April, my favorite months of the year. nov and May used to be but now they are HOT... I love Florida until a hurricane looms, because we have all this sunshine. that is some tree carving, a great way to keep the stumps and make decor with them

You had me at brownies.

What a lovely collage of Sunshine State images! We've been out enjoying the cool mornings and mild days. Birds everywhere! Now, getting them to pose for a photograph - that's a whole 'nother story!

A new week! Enjoy it.

So many pretty and interesting things you see on your hikes and how nice that you don't have to feel any guilt when eating your brownie. The calories have already been burned off. Belated birthday greetings to you, dear Diane.

Happy Birthday! I see why you like that area to hike. And 80º! It will be a long time before we see that. I didn't venture out at all today - snowstorm in progress.

I would love to join you out there on the trails in 80 degree weather. It's 20's and snow here.

Far too hot to do much walking here at the moment. I guess you are blessed with a warmer climate than the northern part of the USA & Canada. Perfect for walking out on the trails. Enjoy your week, and thankyou for visiting my blog this week.

Oh I wish that I were hiking material these days. 😁 Course I know that you are always hiking!

I converted 80F to find nearly 26C, so warm like our early summer that no wonder you have short-sleeved shirt. When we are being attacked by the wind storm of Siberian cold air, which is like a razor slicing through the streets, I can only want for warm sunshine. Nice shots of flying Tree Swallows. Enjoy your warm winter.

The swallows are beautiful.
You have photographed them super well, it is really very difficult to photograph this, my compliments.
Greetings Irma

Hello,
We could use some of your sunshine here. Another great outing and hike.
Great sightings, I love the swallows and kestrel. The birthday brownies sound yummy. Take care, have a wonderful day!

Are the swallows migratory or are they present in Florida all winter?

Hang gliding is huge where I am in Costa Rica. They start up on the mountain and land on the beach. I'm having a salted caramel brownie for dessert and enjoying the sunshine too!

It's nice to see your favorite trail. I like that photo of the old barn, and the Warbler is such a pretty bird with the yellow on the tip of his feathers. That's a neat picture of all the Swallows in the sky. Your red cap looks delightful on you. And the Birthday brownies sound Yummy. One of my favorite desserts. ; )
