I found a little side trail at the Shangri-La trailhead where there are branches piled up with vines growing up through them. I saw butterflies there a few months ago so I went back a few days ago to see what it looked like now.
Orange Sulphur Butterfly
There were yellow wildflowers blooming everywhere with butterflies fluttering.
So I named it Butterfly Brambles.
Painted Lady butterfly that I spotted there in December.
I was hoping to see the Painted Lady again but I didn't see one today. I did see several others though!

Longtailed Skipper
I walked another direction to try to get closer to a huge Wild Plum tree in full bloom.
It was beautiful!
You could smell the sweet scent from the trail!
This was another tree blooming.
Lyreleaf Sage
And more wildflowers.
I wish I could drive over there every day! It's only 4 miles from my house so it's tempting!

No wildflowers here! We're still under a foot of snow!
Everything is covered in snow here in the mountains of Southern California. Looking at your pictures, it's hard to believe we live in the same country. Your butterfly photos are so beautiful, thanks for sharing. And I see that you are enjoying your Jeep. My neighbor, who bought mine, just put a hard roof on it, and it now looks similar to yours, just a 2-door version in British Racing Green. I often miss the Jeep, but my Honda is better for this old lady version of myself.
Beau and I see wild weeds on our walk every day. we once got to watch a gulf fritillary make a cocoon and then watch it turn to a butterfly. in our back yard, that year we had hundreds of them and i got to stand in a swarm and let the light on me.. we had purple passion plants on all the fences and the butterflies loved it. drought killed all the flowers but now we have a few of the zebra b flies

I have a yellow butterfly illustration in mind. Now I know what to look for.
It is so good to see so many butterflies where you are, Diane. I am always concerned when scientists say their numbers are diminishing. I try to grow milkweed every summer so they have a place to lay their eggs.

It is too early for spring flowers here, maybe a few snowdrops.

Wildflowers? Nooo, not even one. Glad that you saw some and all those gorgeous butterflies, too. My favorite is the first.
Oh, I am enjoying your butterfly photos. Such exquisite specimens. So pretty. And to take a walk where wild plum blooms. I have to admit I'm a wee bit envious of your experience - it must smell heavenly. I do not think I have ever smelled wild plum. Although I don't know for sure, I don't think we have it around here.

Butterfly brambles seems like a perfect name. They certainly have lovely patterns. Looks like you have another beautiful trail to visit. Yes I saw the first of the pink Marri Rosea flowering along a walk we do today. So lovely. Enjoy your week, happy rambling.

A few days ago, it seemed as though Mother Nature flipped a switch and suddenly there were things blooming and flying everywhere! So much to see and never enough time.

Those butterflies are so pretty. I've seen little purple flowers shooting up on the sides of the road. Mostly what I have seen in my neck of the woods is POLLEN and lots of it according to my allergies right now! Happy March sweet lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
