"Wildflowers and Woodpeckers"

I had planned a Wildflower post for April but when I looked at the photos I've taken this week, I decided to sneak the Woodpeckers in, too!

There has been terrible flooding in other parts of Florida but we haven't had any rain in our neck of the woods.

Passion flower

But the wildflowers are putting on a show in the forest!

The Passion flower is in full bloom at the hwy 484 trailhead.

And I also saw Red-headed Woodpeckers for the first time this Spring in that part of the Greenway. (Florida Trails West)

I was thrilled to see 2 of these beauties but they were quite a distance.

So I zoomed and cropped to get a better look at them.

Their heads look like velvet, don't they?

Pretty Pawpaws in the woods.

Florida Pawpaw

They are showy and easy to spot!

And a regal Pileated Woodpecker on a pine tree. Hubby took the amazing photos of the Pileated!

It's a great time to be out in nature with so many wildflowers in bloom. And the wildflower attract butterflies.

Gulf Fritillary on Butterfly weed

There's so much beauty in the world around us and there's never been a better time to get out in nature!

Have you seen signs of Spring where you live? Our butterflies arrived before the wildflowers bloomed. They have been flitting around for a month already!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Mosaic Monday HERE and I like Thursdays HERE !

Super shots of the wood Peckers all of them both kinds. And the passion flower we used to have in our backyard until the drought killed everything they have a absolutely gorgeous flower. And a fruit or Aries would come and just cover them. Since the vines all dad we haven’t had too many of the Butterflies. One of the most thrilling bird views I had was maybe 10 years ago we were out in Emerson point bird preserve and there were four of those pileated woodpecker’s on one tree it was an amazing site

Two signs of spring are here now. One is shoveling sand and the other is blowing leaves. 😏
Yard work that I can no longer do. So nice to have somebody do it.

Hello Diane:=)

Getting out in nature, as you do, always brings us something special every week. Thank you!

Nice photos!
The flowers are gorgeous and a nice change to see blooms so elegant. Nice to see woodpeckers as well.
This winter, I saw none here (VT) at the suet or bird seed.

The birds are great but those passion flowers are knocking my socks off. I've never seen anything like that before -- they're fabulous!

Diana, I loved seeing the woodpeckers and pretty flowers. My daughter has a Pileated woodpecker coming to her back yard. I have never seen one so she sends me pictures. We can't plant any flowers till about mother's day because of a chance of frost. But I am ready to see some in my yard. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie

Oh so lovely -- wonderful woodpeckers and wonderful flowers. I hope to see woodpeckers here on my daily walks just around our resort. They usually show up around this time of year and I'm never sure if it is because of the season or because most of our neighbors have left and it is a whole lot quieter than it is during "the season." (I like it like this.)

Your woodpecker pictures are wonderful.

So beautiful! And oh! To see a real red headed woodpecker is a real treat indeed! They are not as common down here as the Pileated Woodpecker and the Red Bellied Woodpecker. I've only seen them a few times and wasn't ever able to get any good pictures of them because they were too far away. thank you for sharing these with us. Love the paw paws and all the other beauties. We are blessed here in this part of the country to have so much variety of wildflowers and birds. Thank you again!!

Wildflowers and woodpeckers are wonderful signs of spring! I’d love to see a red-headed woodpecker, but over the years they have become far less common. here than they were in the past.

The passion flower is such an unusual and pretty flower. When it opens up, you can see its full beauty. And I enjoyed seeing your Woodpeckers. They have a whole head of red, where ours have a patch of red. The Pileated Woodpecker looks regal for sure. And the butterfly photo is pretty with colors of orange. Great photos, Diane. Yes, starting to feel like Spring here, sunny days and warm weather, but one never knows in the mountains. ; )

Lovely pictures as always. I've been watching red birds and woodpeckers outside. We have a wren that had babies in our barn so I've been sitting outside watching her go out to gather food and then back to them. It's been wonderful to see that YES, even the birds take care of their own. Happy week to you. Hugs and blessings Cindy

I have always loved wildflowers. Some signs of Spring here- rainy yet still cold and even a frost warning for plants. Looking forward to seeing some butterflies as well.

You spoiled your followers there Diane. To see Pileated Woodpecker and then two of the Red-headed peckers was a cracking day. Those passion flowers are lovely too, very different to any flowers I see. But at home our Cherry Blossom is out and it smells divine. Enjoy your week.

What a beautiful Spring post!

Nice job finding the woodpeckers. The Red-headed Woodpecker is not nearly as common as it was 20 years ago.

When Gini was a little girl, she said the Passion Flowers reminded her of a ballerina dancing on a purple stage.

Thank you for sharing these gorgeous images!
