Cannon Farms in Dunnellon for Sunflowers!

It really feels like summer when I take a trip to Cannon Farms for fresh produce and sunflowers.

So let's take the Jeep for a little trip to Dunnellon!

We've already driven past the farm on our trips to Blue Run Park and the Gulf Coast.

I like to reserve a day when I have lots of time to walk in the fields and take tons of photos.

The weather was beautiful and I packed a lunch.

So I had all day!

I shopped for fresh produce first and put all of that in the cooler.

Then I picked up a bag and some clippers and headed for the sunflower fields.

It really takes your breath away to be surrounded by so much beauty...and LOTS of honey bees!

I was trying to describe it to someone and I couldn't find the words to express what an amazing experience it is to be immersed in so much beauty.

So I'll just keep plugging in photos and probably do another post later with MORE photos!

I saw lots of Cattle Egrets flying over the fields.

There were goats, turkeys and chickens on the farm too!

There were Sandhill Cranes and ducks on the drive over. (no photos but nice sightings!)

Even these 'spent' blooms are beautiful in their own way!

Do you love old barns as much as I do?

I wanted to include photos of the Jeep and this was my favorite!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Mosaic Monday HERE and I like Thursdays HERE !

Sunflowers, fields of them or singular, are a thing of beauty and joy. The birds love them and the bees. Nothing could be better. Oh, and I love old barns, too!!

The sunflowers are just so pretty. I think people often forget how beautiful the interior of Florida is.

Old barns evoke a special brand of nostalgia, but unfortunately more and more of them are falling into disrepair. Renovations and upkeep are costly and few are willing to invest the money it seems.,

I agree. There is little so beautiful as a field carpeted with blooming yellow sunflowers and as you say, the sound of bees enjoying the feast. You had a great day Diane so thanks for sharing it. But I'm still waiting for the lift in the red jeep as promised.

What a gorgeous day! Sunflower fields are so beautiful, aren’t they? Whether here in the states or in France, a field of those sunny faces always makes me happy. That you got to cut your own is wonderful! Wishing you a beautiful month of June! Xo Lidy at FrenchGardenHouse

Dear Diane, so beautiful and nice, I love farms like this! And I can understand your joy about the walk in the sunflower field so well: directly behind our garden there is a field - and in some years sunflowers are planted here. It's amazingly beautiful. Unfortunately, this year it's only grain (also important 😉), but one day it will be sunflowers again - and then it will hum and buzz in it again 🌻🐝🦋!
The jeep photo with the matching flowers is really pretty!
I had to laugh at your comment "...but I bet if I could go with you, you would encourage me to do some crazy things!" - I hope that my company would not be dangerous for you in this case 😉
All the best and a good first week of June 🌻🌼🌻!
Hugs, Traude

Sunflowers are among my favorite flowers! I always grow one in my backyard every summer.
There are large sunflower farms near Denver International Airport and every summer dedicated photographers travel to them to take photos just as pretty as yours, Diane.
Your Jeep looks very pretty among the wildflowers. Have a wonderful week!

Goodness gracious Diane those pictures are SO PRETTY especially the big one up top!! There are many farms around here raising sunflower crops. Right now they are up and just starting to bloom. Ours we planted a couple weeks ago came up in 7 days--- eager to watch them grow and bloom!! Those are regular yellow ones-- this weekend we planted a row of "blue sunflowers " In Our big garden-- can't wait to see what they do! I had never saw any of those before.

Oh, I wish I would have been with you, what a lovely way to spend a day. The sunflowers and the field of cosmos are absolutely beautiful. I thought about getting a beehive and I've thought about getting a goat. My problem is I don't want to be stung and I don't want a goat getting into my garden. But goats are so fun and harvesting your own honey sounds amazing.

Sunflowers always say "Summer is here." What a lovely day you had at the sunflower fields. You're right, even the drooping, wilting sunflowers have beauty. And buying some produce to take home was a nice part of your day. Love the Bee photo, it's sooooo pretty!

Have a good rest of the week, Diane.
