I "spotted" Bambi!

I finally got out on the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway this week and hiked from the 49th Ave trailhead.

Zebra Longwing Butterfly

I took the heat advisory warning seriously and stayed inside quite a bit so it felt great to be out on the open trails!

It was around 80 with just a hint of a breeze so it wasn't bad and I remembered why I love the Greenway.

Beautyberry

Of course we can't stay on the paved trail!

Beautyberry Lane

Let's get out in the woods and HIKE!

I saw 3 deer and one was a young one that still had it's spots. That was a thrill.

With all the afternoon showers we had, there were mushrooms growing all through the woods.

Lots of wildflowers and butterflied flitting everywhere.

And I got to say hello to some of my bicycle friends! A group of them were near the trailhead when I finished my hike.

My time indoors has been well spent. I threw myself into some projects around the house and feel so great about all that I've accomplished. But I probably should have taken a blog break because I didn't spend time on my computer. I'm behind visiting everyone. It was enjoyable to read blogs in the evening when I was too tired to do anything else. But I haven't commented so I will catch up soon.

I also want to mention the passing of our dear friend, Vee from A Haven for Vee. She was a blog friend from the beginning and we shared a lot of good times and bad. I'm going to miss her. She always teased me that an alligator was going to walk through my front yard when I went outside. Please keep her family in your prayers.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, Vee. I've heard of her blog before, and saw this sad news on another friend's blog. Oh, you saw Bambie. Such a sweet animal, and she looks so young. And the zebra butterfly is always a joy to see. So good to hear you're working on projects around the house. That's always nice to catch up inside during the real hot days outside.

Happy August Diane!

Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. It's nice to get back outside. It has been such a hot summer, but temps in the 80s today feels so good. Hugs, Laura

I was thinking that I hadn't seen you "out here" much lately...I know the weather has been much too hot for much walking in the daytime. We try to go in the evening after supper, but then it often rains. So our walking has taken a nosedive lately as well. I love that you spotted Bambi!! So sweet. Yes, I saw the sad news about Vee. I had not known her as long as you, but appreciated her so much and was so sad to hear of her passing. I honestly didn't realize that she was still battling that disease, but I guess I should have known when she just stopped posting and commenting. She will definitely be missed. Thank you for your pretty and colorful post!

Oh I am so sad to hear about Vee! I too have been on a busy break, and try to keep up with my favorite bloggers. I am wondering about a couple right now that aren't writing.
Enjoy those 80 degree walks. It was 104 here today and we just about melted trying to get a few groceries. Walking was the very very last thing on my mind!

Eighty degrees after a rainfall and a walk in the shaded wood sounds perfect. Sorry to hear of your blogger friend! Over many years, I have known bloggers who passed away and, yes, some do feel like actual friends.

Hello Diane. I'm glad you found some shade in the avenue of trees where it looks lovely and cool. The long winged butterfly is well named as it does look extraordinarily wide but very beautiful. Stay cool - we don't have that problem at the mo but we are promised warm weather next week.

I join you in saying I will miss Vee. I loved her home and how she decorated it in such a comfortable style. I grieved with her when her husband died, never dreaming such would be my fate just a couple of years later. She was a comfort to me.

You actually saw Bambi! What a delight that must have been!

Hello,
I agree, getting some projects inside completed is a great feeling as well. I did some summer cleaning during our HIGH heat index days.. can you believe Wisconsin as had about 6 or 8 in total this summer. And golly it is hot! Our plants really get a sudden surprise and just wilt, no matter how much water I put on them.
We are back to seasonal temperatures this week. Ahhhh... much better. Hee Hee!
Love, Carla

hi there Diane my friend! Yep, it's HOT HOT HERE, even on breezy days! LOL Feels like an oven when you open up the door and go outside. Love all these pretty pictures ESPECIALLY THE DEER, oh look at that young one with the pretty white dots scattered all over her back, so precious! We have tons of them here too, but only see them come out at dusk, they come right up to our porches and wander all over our property all night long, we find the deer tracks in the meadow and all over. BUT!!! we haven't seen any babies yet and I know they have birthed their babies by now, right? or they bring them out only under cover of darkness. Love the trail pictures and beauty berries are always such a pretty color! STAY COOOOOOOOL AND HYDRATED my friend! love ya

Glad you are getting out, back into nature and sharing your beautiful photos. We have too many Bambi's in our yard eating our flowers~Our am so sorry about your blogging friend. I had a blogging friend that died a few years ago and although we only knew each through our comments over many years, it really affected me.

The Parkway was beautiful -- that's not at all too hot to walk (but I know those perfect days are rare this time of year where it's perfect in the Winter!) ... By the way, definitely no apology needed about your commenting. I am so terribly behind on talking to my blog friends (also known actually as comments). Like you, often I read blogs in the evening but just can't always find the energy to comment.
