Traveling on the 'unknown road'!

Is that even better than the 'back roads'?

I love maps and enjoy the navigation maps in the new vehicles. I was surprised when we drove down this road that it was listed as an unknown road!

Perfect! I love it!

Let's see where it leads!

Oh, it leads to the Gulf of Mexico!

Well you can't go wrong with a trip down an unknown dirt road to the coast.

And it was beautiful when we got there. The parking lot was empty on a Saturday morning, which surprised us.

We took a little hike down the Withlacoochee Bay trail.

What will we see today?

Wasn't this Great White Egret gorgeous!

Hubby got a new Chevy 'pick em up' truck .

And he even let me drive it....through a mud puddle!

We stopped at the locks on the way home and saw a rain shower in the distance.

It sure was a fun day (and yes, we got rained on)! Thanks hubby for the beautiful Great White Egret photos and for letting me get your new truck dirty!

Do you like to take a drive? A Sunday drive on Saturday?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and Mosaic Monday HERE !

We love that area. In a former life, we spent more than a little bit of time fishing along that stretch of coast.

Any post containing sightings of a Great White Egret and a Great White Pick-Up is a good post.

Have a great weekend, Diane.

What a wonderful afternoon! I, honestly, do not enjoy taking a drive; however, I remember we did so as a family almost every Sunday afternoon when I was a child. Just going out for a drive:) I'm also not sure I would be brave enough to take an unnamed road. Good for you!! Great photos!

Sometimes our GPS doesn't know where we are. Other times she wants to take is over a mountain where we know there is no open road for us. Lovely egret.

we used to ride every Sunday, and we probably went on unknowingly on unknown roads because we have no gps/computer to tell us. this was a good place to end up. good job on the Silverado, Bob is 100 percent GM man. he drives a 2004 Sierra truck and for many years we both drove our 1980 Silverado Step side

When I got unto an unknown region, I normally panicked. One national park map in East Victoria tells me a route of 22km turning out to be over 100km. It was a nightmare that stopped me from exploring the wilderness

I love just getting out and taking a drive. My dad loved it too and I have many good memories of Sunday drives with the family - and ending up with ice cream cones!! Great photos and that's a nice looking truck - even with the mud on it!! Happy weekend!

Love to take the road less traveled! Gorgeous photos of the egret and the beautiful new truck! The sky is so dramatic, too. I wonder who hosed off the truck after the mud puddle? Lol! x K

What a beautiful road to drive by car, unfortunately I can't drive, I don't have a driver's license and so I always depend on someone else.
The Great Egret is amazing.
Greetings Irma

Now that's love when a man lets his wife get his new truck dirty....lol
I haven't done it in a while but I like taking roads I've never traveled on before. With the help of google maps I can do that without being afraid of getting lost.

Beautiful photos of the Egret!
We sometimes follow a road just to see where it is going. Went down one the other day that was barely wider than the car! (it looped around back to the main road)
Have a great weekend!

Hello,
Taking the back roads can be fun, always something to see too.
Views of the gulf are pretty and I love the Great Egret.
Nice truck, they are good on the dirt roads.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.

Wow, You found an unknown road. Wish I could do that but I do have access to a couple of farm roads where Joe Public can't go. It's great. You got hubby's new Chevi truck a little muddy but I'm sure he will forgive you or take your Jeep down a muddy track. I hate washing cars but sometimes it just has to be done I know, especially if I have been along my farm tracks.

It looks indeed very different from here in the Netherlands but also very nice. In Amsterdam you can do nearly everything by foot. Its not so big in the center and the beautiful car off your hubby would not fit in a lot of streets. Have a nice weekend.

Beautiful white Egrets. Great shots of them! You've got a very nice new car. I like the blue-grey Gnatcacher too. Very cute small birds.

I've never seen the term "unknown road" on any kind of map! What an adventure. And you were well rewarded. The egret is a stunner and so are your pix.

You are exactly my sort! Back in the day it would have been on my motorcycle, but I am looking enviously at that beautiful air conditioned Truck of yours. Safe and happy travels my friend Aloha

The White Egret is so graceful and pretty. Even lovelier when he's in flight, especially with that last photo. Rain showers sound nice during the warm Summer months. And I like the new Chevy truck. I think the Chevy pick up trucks are my favorite. I remember them back in the day. ; ) Back roads are sometimes the best with many surprises awaiting us. Glad you found some pretty ones.

Great photos. Sometimes, those unknown roads do take us to beautiful places which we least expected to see. Congrats on the new truck. Happy to see the license plate of a veteran!!

What a wonderful Unknown Road journey! Many years ago, our family vacationed near the Gulf of Mexico and it was beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.

That unknown road turned into a fun adventure.
I like to be the passenger while traveling the backroads. I love to gaze at the scenery and not be worrying about speed limits, etc.

We saw an Egret in a neighbor's yard this morning during our bike ride. The white feathers are such a pure, clean white. They are beautiful birds!
