A deer trail, a deer track and a deer tail!

I've got them all in this one post!

Two days after I saw the majestic 8 point buck in the previous post, I saw another one!

I was about 10 miles away on a different trail and caught sight of a deer in the brush.

I got off the trail (taking my first photo while walking!) and followed a deer trail.

The buck stopped and took a few steps toward me to warn me to go no farther.

Behind him, was his whole family!

7 deer....which included this precious fawn!

What a neat sighting!

I took a close up of each of the 8 point bucks to see them side by side and they are definitely two different deer.

There goes the tail behind a tree!

Lots of wildflowers blooming at this time of year.

The Dotted Horsemint is one of my favorites.

It has the best minty scent.

This one isn't quite as pink but it shows the dots better.

It's a beautiful time to get out in the woods here in Florida!

Come on down!

Great White Egret high in the sky!

you already know I have never seen a deer in the wild, now I also have never seen that stunning horsemint flower... my favorite today is the header, although the bucks face is a 2nd close.. awesome photos and story and what an adventure all in one hike

you are so lucky to see so many deer in the wild. up here, the bucks have already lost their headdress, the antlers can be found while walking in the woods. the dotted horsemint is new to me, i like the colors, the shape and the dots, that's a pretty one!! beautiful capture of the eget and that bright blue sky...that's a great picture!!

Fantastic catch of the deer. I love the wildflowers. It always makes me think that is why Ponce De Leon named Florida the Land of Flowers.

Nice photo's. We've had too many deer in our yard. They've done a fair amount of damage to my new landscaping. Fingers crossed the bushes come back ok next year. We've not had trouble other years, but there seems to be an abundance of them this year. Several surrounding communities are trying different things to thin them out. We had 7 in the yard one day and this is a very residential neighborhood just one block off a major 4 lane road. I like seeing things in the wild; but not here in the neighborhood.

How wonderful to see the deer family in the woods! Glad you stopped when you did, or that buck may have charged! Although I don't think he perceived you as a threat, he was just giving you fair warning! I love the spotted horsemint too. I believe it also has some kind of medicinal qualities, but I forget what at the moment. So many of the wildflowers have medicinal qualities. It's too bad we really don't know about them or how to use them anymore and rely on expensive manufactured drugs that cause so many bad side effects. Sometimes the old ways really are the best ways... I hope you have a lovely weekend. This weather is wonderful for hiking in the woods! Thank you for sharing the beauty with us.

The deers are very pretty. It's wonderful to see the whole family. The dotted horsemint looks lovely. I think I bought this flower in July. I wonder if it will survive here.

It sounds like the buck was protecting his family. I enjoy seeing the fawns and you can still easily see the spots on your fawn photo. Thank You for sharing your beautiful nature photos!

That fawn still has its spots? It must have been a late birth, all of the fawns around here lost their spots weeks ago.

Diane - it makes me happy that you can find so much wildlife in a place as developed as Florida - nature will find a way, right? How clever to do a side by side of the bucks to see if they are different animals. We have a different kind of native mint here - you only have to get within 10 feet of it to get a whiff of that wonderful scent!

All of your photos are wonderful (as always) but the ones I like the best are the Dotted Horsemint. So pretty!!
