Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center is a State Park in White Springs, Florida with a very nice campground.
It's perfect for a day trip or a longer camping trip.
Every park we visit has unique features and things we love about it.
This one was perfect for walking.
There were a lot of beautiful historical buildings to photograph
and hiking trails too.
A thatched roof hut in the background on this trail.
And a good trail to hike right down to the Suwannee River.
There's also a big gazebo for relaxing and watching the river.
You could see how far the water had flooded this river looking at the bank.
The biggest surprise I think was the music from the bell in this tower. It has a 97 bell carillon and the beautiful songs can be heard all the way to the campground.

I don't want to skip over the fact that there was still a lot of damage to this park from the hurricanes that came through last Fall. Most of the buildings were closed and there were trees down everywhere.
It was sad to see the damage and it takes years to repair and rebuild the State Parks.
I saw a lot of birds but didn't get many photos.

We sure enjoyed our stay there and I walked down to the river several times.
White Springs, Florida is off the beaten path but well worth traveling the backroads to spend time there!

I like the photo of the board walk. its a beautiful place. we have 3 state parks in our county and two are closed, Desoto Monument they sent the ranger to another park for a year, said it will be hard to get it open that quickly. it was the hardest hit, right in the mouth of the river where it hits the gulf
Looks like a beautiful place to visit. So sad about all of the storm damage still there, but I know it will take a long time for places to be restored. Still, it's nice that you were able to be there and enjoy what could be accessed freely. Thank you for sharing it with us. I've never been there before.

What a beautiful campsite. It is hard to believe that it was hit by a hurricane as it looks so beautiful. Love your van - do you go overnight? The bell tower was lovely and unexpected, and you could hear it all over the campground. Do you go with your husband - does he walk too? What was the thatched building used for? Peaceful looking.

i LOVE backroads...even a drive to nowhere is fun when you take the backroads. pretty light and greenery surrounding the titmouse, this looks and "sounds" like a lovely campground!!
