Nature Abounds at home!

One thing great about living in Florida is the heat....
NO, I mean birds!

I'm still stuck inside because of the high temps but I've gotten out for a couple of hikes this month.

We have a neighborhood pond nearby and lots of big windows in our house so all you have to do is look outside to see birds.

One day, I got the best sighting but only pics of the geese.

A flock of about a dozen Canada geese walked across the golf course and into our back yard, followed by a flock of wild turkeys. And down the greenway was a flock of White Ibis.

I usually just enjoy the view and don't always run for my camera!

And of course we are always planning for cooler weather and camping trips.

So we bought a small screen tent and popped it up in the living room! Haha!

We have a rug that's the perfect size too.

And I sewed a pocket in two vintage beach towels to fit over our lawn chairs and I like the way they turned out.

Home improvements included getting rid of this small curio cabinet.

It never matched the furniture in my living room and I hated it. I also got tired of the jumble of what nots and tea cups on the shelves. I packed them up in a box and put them in a storage closet. I'll keep them for awhile.

Hubby put together this sofa table and I like it so much better!

Bird books and art books, a basket and giraffe! Better!

So that's my nature sightings at home!

How are you doing this week?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and Mosaic Monday HERE.

...it's too hot here, I can't image what it's like for you!

It's wonderful to have nature come to your own backyard when it's too hot to go out and look for it! I noticed a flock of Canada Geese fly over last week, so I think they are getting more active in our area again. Although there are many who stay here year round over on one of the larger lakes in our neighborhood. They just don't come to our pond until fall, when we have more water in the pond, hopefully! I love what you did with your curio cabinet/new sofa table. That does look very nice and neat. I know it is hard to put away things like teacups, etc., but there comes a time when we need to opt for a more simple lifestyle and less clutter. I think about it a lot, but haven't gotten around to doing anything about it yet! One of these days I will get up my nerve to say "now's the time! Take it away!" LOL. I enjoyed your post and I hope things will cool down a bit soon so we can all get back outside more. Have a lovely weekend.

I like the tent. I am sure y'all are ready to get back out there. I have thought we've had August heat this July. It has kept me inside far too much too. I almost overheated pulling weeds the other day.
The beach towel idea was so clever. I may have to copy that.

How lovely to turn those vintage towels into beach chair covers. What fun. I loved your 'this and that' post today, Diane. A little bit of nature and those great poses of the Canada Geese along with a bit of what you're doing inside your home these days.

Sometimes curio cabinets just gotta go, don't they? They were fun and useful in their day, but it seems so many of us are longing for more minimalism in our overstuffed lives. Especially as we age and realize we don't really want to dust it all anymore.

Happy Friday!

I like the little cabinet that you don't. :) I would have painted it white. :)

It sounds like you’ve had some lovely wildlife encounters right from home and refreshing your space with that new sofa table sounds like the perfect way to bring a little calm and clarity indoors too
