Sightings close to home!

I haven't been on the trails as much this week but hopefully I'll get back out more regularly after this week. We've gotten a lot of things done around the house and in the yard so I feel good about how my time has been spent!

But I'm going to need some trail therapy soon! The weather has improved and I can't wait!

How do you like this Great White Egret that walked through the neighborhood?

And this was a funny sight looking out the window in the back!

Off you go!

They look like they are saying I'm not very nice. They only wanted to scratch in the courtyard and make a mess!

We have a Dove family that I see every day.

This looks like a young one!

And the sunsets have been spectacular.

I didn't enhance these colors.

(taken from the courtyard)

It really was this vibrant!

I also ordered a new camping journal.

The green one is from this past year and I filled it up.

The brown one will be ready when we are....which I hope is soon!

Enjoy your weekend!

I hope you have something fun planned!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and Mosaic Monday HERE.

A lot of critters like to hang around your place. They must see a welcome mat?

...Diane, are you raising your own turkey for Thanksgiving?

I too love that sunset photo. I hope you have a nice weekend :D

That egret is a stunner and so urban! The turkeys, too. Loving that sunset, Diane!

Wow those sunsets are awesome.

Those turkeys are very presumptuous! When we start seeing them in the fall, I think they are risk-takers.... after all, Thanksgiving will be coming!

As for hiking weather, we have noticed cooler temps during our morning bike rides. I've changed from my usual sleeveless top to one with elbow-length sleeves. And yesterday I decided I need to switch from bermuda shorts to ankle-length pants (once we get riding on the bikes, the air immediately feels cooler on our skin). I love it!

Oh how lovely! The Great White Egret is so beautiful! I love to see them. And then those turkeys! I guess they were looking for a handout! They are such fun birds to watch. The doves are sweet too. That sunset is amazing! I LOVE this time of year. We've been having some really nice days and evenings! What a blessing! We still need more rain, however. Our pond is still dry. Hopefully we'll get some soon!! Take care and enjoy your hiking trails!!

What a treat to visit you today, Diane. Gorgeous photos. Loved the egret and those turkeys feeling a little miffed that you shooed them out... haha. I like your journal covers. Great title.

Gosh, with those birds in your backyard, you don't need a trail!! I know - not the same, but those are some great photos!!

What a fun visitor. I think I would prefer the Egret or the doves over the turkeys.
That is a spectacular sunset.

Do you know what species of turkeys those are? I think there are 5 in the US. Florida is the home of the Osceola, I wonder if those are a couple.

Love the great egret, that is one bird I need to photograph and add to my life list. I'm just never in the right place at the right time. One of these days! Hope you get back to hiking soon and start your entries in the new journal. https://craftygardener.ca/shorebirds/

wonderful images today, how lucky are you to have critters coming right into the yard. your egret looks like it may be in breeding plumage. those turkeys better take cover, maybe they don't have a calendar and know that thanksgiving is coming. GORGEOUS sunset, ours have been really pretty but definitely take a back seat to this!! i LOVE your hiking journals. have a great weekend and an awesome new week ahead!!

Hello Diane,
I like your journals, it is a nice way to keep a record of all your sightings. Beautiful photos of the Great Egret, the turkeys and the lovely doves. Your sky images are stunning. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend.

Look at the Egret! How spectacular. I love this post so much!!! I love the journals!!! I have hiking one I am still working on. I CANNOT WAIT from some trail therapy!!!! It is still brutal hot here. I am heading to Oak Mountain State Park to do a nice hiking trip in Alabama soon. I just got back from days in Florida. We had a wonderful nature walk at the St. Marks Preserve. We seen a beautiful eagle. It was so close to the road. I plan to share all of that on my blog next week. Blessings.

Was that middle set of birds wild turkeys? That's what they look like to me, but then I'm not an expert on birds. I just remember seeing wild turkeys once when we were camping.

Hi Diane!
Hike More and Worry Less is a wonderful philosophy! You see so many wonderful birds --the turkeys were a surprise!

You certainly don't have to go far to see wildlife - it's right in your back yard! I love the title of your camping journals. Have a wonderful week.

I am guessing you have had hot weather judging by your comments about not getting out. But you seem to have a lot of birds just wandering in invited or not! I love the wording on the front of your journal. I hope you use it very soon! Enjoy your week and thankyou for visiting my blog this week.

The white Egrit looks very proud as it struts along your neighborhood. It's amazing how vibrantly colorful and dramatic sunsets can actually be. You captured a beauty. Wow! That's a lot of wild turkeys. We don't usually see them up in the Miami area. Such a good idea to keep a trail journal. You must enjoy going back and reading them.
