I walked around the doll room...

and enjoyed seeing my sweet dollies!

DSCN4599

Too many books?

DSCN4603

No shelf space?

DSCN4601

Maybe if the Barbie twins weren’t lounging on the shelves

When it’s HOT outside...

it’s nice to be in the lanai!

Flowers-2

I love the sunbeams in the room as long as the AC is running and the ceiling fan is whirring! It’s the perfect spot to read!

And for a fun summer read...

DSCN4645

I love Sarah Addison Allen and her latest book, The Peach Keeper is a fun and easy summertime read! It only took me two days to read it!

My husband is just finishing New York by Edward Rutherfurd. It’s 860 pages...if you want something to last ALL summer! It is one of my MOST favorite books and well worth the time it takes to read it! You will NOT want it to end!

DSCN4646

We went to a little book sale Saturday morning and I found The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. I just about jumped up and down with joy when I saw it...but I tried to control myself!

DSCN4649

This book, as well as Cross Creek was written about the area that I live in so it was a GREAT FIND! (if anyone ever finds a copy of Cross Creek please let me know!)

A Good Week and a Happy List!

I’ve had a wonderful week and here’s my Happy List!

1. The weather here in Florida has been fabulous this week!

DSCN4431

Here’s a peek at a horse farm near our house taken out the car window at 55 mph!

2. I’ve been creative! I wanted to make some bags but couldn’t find the patterns so I created my own! I’ll share soon!

3. I’ve received a few gifts from Giveaways (not all this week but over the past few weeks) and that always makes the happy list!

Sharon from the PAFA giveaway sent me this lighted basket!

DSCN4573

It’s so adorable!

And this cute little pendant was made by Melinda

at Alabaster Rose Designs !

DSCN4574

It is perfect for my home here in Florida! Look at the details!

“World Oceans Day” Sea Turtles!

WOD-Button-2011

Today is THE DAY we’ve all looked forward to!

Visit Shellbelle’s Tiki Hut to join the FUN!

My hubby and I drove to Cape Canaveral National Seashore one day last week and were privileged to see many Sea Turtle nests up and down the beach!

DSCN4480

You can see the broken shells next to this nest and know that it has been destroyed by some animal.

DSCN4512

Last year we visited the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island.

DSCN3669

We were looking through the museum part of the building when a lady came to tell us they would be working with a large sea turtle to teach him how to dive for food.

DSCN3681

When they are injured or sick, sometimes they lose their food gathering skills.

DSCN3675

Being in the rehabilitation area was the highlight of the day!

DSCN3678

There were about 20 turtles in the center and you can track Talbot now. Click HERE to follow him in the ocean near Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Anyone of ANY age would enjoy learning more about Sea Turtles!

Shell seekers Delight!

This is a quick photo of the beach right under our feet!

Photos taken at “Cape Canaveral National Seashore”

DSCN4487

And here are some of the amazing shells we found!

22MayJune-1

Angel wings, Lettered Olives, scallops, more shells than I can identify and one beautiful piece of blue sea glass! The edges beaten by the sea and the color frosted by the sand and salt!

My MOST amazing find of the day?

This Giant Atlantic Cockle!!!

DSCN4529

Right in the edge of the ocean with the waves splashing over it, I saw this cockle with the hinge still intact! I GASPED! (one of many gasps of the day! heehee!)

My smallest? Look in the very center of the photo!

DSCN4530

A tiny Calico!

I hope your day is filled with joy!

Sea Life

It was an unusual ‘day at the beach’! Let’s GO!!!

All photos taken by my sweet hubby at the

Cape Canaveral National Seashore!

DSCN4458

Maybe because the day started stormy, or the fact that it was a new moon, low pressure, June 1st, Diane finally got to spend the day at the beach....I’m not sure why! But we saw more sea life that we’ve ever seen before!

DSCN4490-2

All along the beach we marveled at the sea creatures!

DSCN4497-1

And hubby walked back to the ocean with several creatures that had washed ashore!

DSCN4488-2

DSCN4489-1

I’m glad I have several identification books...

DSCN4459-1

DSCN4461-1

I saw things I’ve never seen before!

DSCN4492-1

DSCN4466-1

Hmmm...

DSCN4460-1

Rhonda from Shellbelle’s Tiki Hut helped me

with my crab identification! Thanks, girlfriend!

My MOST perfect day!

What would it be?

“A Day at the Beach”

DSCN4471

I long to be at the beach...

DSCN4457

and I savor each moment!

I even say a prayer when I walk

onto the beach and look out at the ocean!

We drove to Smyrna Beach, Bethune Beach and Cape Canaveral yesterday! The closer we got...the darker it got!

And just before we arrived, raindrops fell!

DSCN4454

But later the clouds moved on and it turned out to be the perfect day with very few people on the beaches and temps in the 70s!

DSCN4477

What a perfect way to spend June 1st!

DSCN4505

My sweet hubby gets credit for ALL of the photos

on my most favorite day! THANKS hubby!

I was too intent on enjoying the ocean...and picking up shells!

Do you have plans for a vacation this summer?

Do you like to visit the beach?
