Florida’s Horse Country

We live in central Florida in an area known for it’s horse farms.

I took both of these photos while driving home from the mall.

Probably not what you expect to see in Florida but lovely views in my part of the state.

And isn’t this a sweet book I found at the thrift store last week?

good fences

Thanks Tex for the Good Fences party!

I never learned to ride a horse and the few times I’ve been on one, I was skeeered. I should have learned HERE! Your own virtual horse for beginners! lol

Do you like to ride?

Beautiful horse country. I grew up owning horses, riding everyday. I sod my horse when I had babies to feed. While we have 2 horses here, I don't ride anymore.my friend I would race our steeds across the table top Mesa, wind in our hair, joy in our hearts. What freedom we had.

No, I didn't expect to see this kind of countryside in central Florida! It's beautiful and would be my preference I think - rural country and sunny hot days! Beautiful photos Diane. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

you do live in one of the prime horse territories, for certain! i think it rivals kentucky in its green pastures and fencing! :)

Very pretty! I used to ride years ago. My sister owned a Quarter Horse. Fun times!

No. I was skeered early and never got back on a horse. Pretty countryside and great fences.

When my siblings and I were young kids, we loved anything to do with horses. Yes, we galloped around the yard on our invisible horses.LOL. You know my mom had that dirt ring around the outside of the house till we were older. Blessings to you for a great weekend, xoxo,Susie

Beautiful countryside, gorgeous horses, and good fences. Who knew a drive to the mall could be so wonderfully scenic?

Thanks for sharing, Diane!

Happy weekend!

it looks beautiful and green....

I have ridden horses... as kids it was all we wanted to do, and had to pay $2.00 to ride some poor old nags that were in a paddock just outside of our little town...

Where do you live? My neighbor just left for Winterhaven which is the middle of the state from what I gather.
I love horses and always have...I had 2 of my own and rode 6 days a week before I got ill. I was in good shape then....now not so much.
I was born loving horses and read books about them. That's a beautiful photo of the horses but I feel sorry for the animals down there in the heat as they don't have a.c. We're spoiled I guess. I never had it as a child and I don't remember minding it. But now I can't tolerate the heat...rather the humidity. Interesting site about the virtual horse. Have a great day...it's been raining here a lot this week.

We always liked driving through Ocala and seeing the white fences with all the beautiful green grass and the horses.

Happy Weekend.

Beautiful horses, my friend! I have been riding a few times in my teen years. I would ride my ranching friends while they rounded up their cows. I have always enjoyed it, but boy, was I sore after a full day in the saddle! :)

Love and hugs to you!

I grew up on a farm and loved riding! I miss it, but now that I'm older, I think I'll keep my feet on the ground. lol! If I'd kept it up I'd still ride, but we haven't had a horse since we moved here over 20 years ago. Beautiful fences!

I'd be back and forth to the mall all the time if we had views like this. So pretty. I haven't been on a horse in years, but was a riding guide a long time ago in my early high school years.

Every horse I ever tried to ride wanted to bite me.

Love the pictures. I have a real respect for horses. I have been on one once in my life and have never had any desire to ride again after being thrown. They are beautiful animals. Let me know if you want some suggestions for the fabrics you want to use up. Maybe we could start a fat quarter exchange or 1/2 yard exchange. I have a huge stash.

Very pretty! My horse riding adventures were few, but I did take lessons at Girl Scout Camp one summer. A pregnant horse (named Maggie) stepped on my left foot and I spent some time in the infirmary with a sore foot! then once we went horseback riding with my sisters and friends and one of the horses literally took off with my younger sister. She was kind of hanging off the horse as she had never really gotten on. I was terrified for her!LOL!

Yes- It always amazes people to know that Ocala has lots of horse farms/people around there. If you head further South so does Wellington. xo Diana

Yes, I do love to ride Diane, albeit not as long as I use too due to back problems sadly.
Lovely to see and thanks for sharing,

What beautiful photos my friend. And I have only been on a horse a few times. They still frighten me a little bit. And I do believe they can sense that. I do hope you have a nice weekend.

I love to horseback ride. My favorite ride was in the mountains in Colorado. I'm enjoying some of your Florida weather right now. Xo

What a pretty photo of the horses. I used to ride horses when I was a teenager on my uncles farm, but I was always worried that I would fall off...even though I never did.
Hope you have a great weekend.
hugs,
Cindy

I don't think of horse farms and FL. What a beautiful area. We took the girls horse back riding in the Colorado mountains last summer on our trip out west. It was one of our most favorite parts of the trip, even though I had a very naughty horse named Elvis.

I've always loved horses, Diane, and wished I had one growing up. Your pictures are great, and it sounds like your neck of the woods is very pretty. I rode a wild horse at my brother-in-law's ranch in Oregon many years ago, and she gave me the ride of my life!

Have a fun weekend, doing all the things you love. You find the best items at the thrift store.

love,

You do live in a lovely area!! So centralized for either the gulf or the ocean. i know you hike and bike - but there are soooooo many lovely paddling trails as well with so many springs in the area that all flow out to the St. Johns. They all have their own adventures!!

Hi there name mate! I cannot remember the last time I saw a horse farm or at the very least, a land with that acres of endless greeneries. Lucky you!! And that book, it is indeed a golden prize, another item to add in your collection.

Wishing you a great weekend ahead!
