I have a cure!
A new sewing machine!
When it’s too hot outside, I can SEW!
I still have my Bernina and I’m sure I always will, but it started ‘acting up’ awhile back so I finally got a new one. I had the Bernina serviced but of course it didn’t ‘act up’ for the service tech! Isn’t that the way it always is?
So I’m having fun with a new Brother and so far it’s been easy to learn and use.
I made a little mat using decorative stitches for my scissors.
And I’ve made one cosmetic bag with a zipper. Now what? I sat down and looked at Pinterest for about 2 hours trying to decide what to make next. A tote bag? A prairie doll? How about another monkey? hahaha! What should I make next?
I’m joining Diane for Beautiful Sunday.
Happy June!

Beninas are good sewing machines..as are brother.
looks like you can use it with your eyes closed.

Beautiful sewing machine. I use a Bernina bottom of the line one and I still do. It know how to use all of its features. Right now I am sewing dresses for my mom's turn of the century dolls (20 th). I'd like to see your prairie doll.,not not here . Looks like we could have rain.
Looks like you will be having some good times sewing. I get stuck at the Pinterest stage of most projects. Fun to see what others have made! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
That looks very fun and sophisticated to me. I guess you have to read the instructions which would leave me out. :) How about a tote bag for all of your adventures?
Oh you sewing wizard, I bet you think of something. LOL I loved that little mat...you could make some smaller for coasters. Don't forget to show all of us what you make. We are excited like we are the ones with the new machine.:):)Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Enjoy your new sewing machine! Always the hardest part deciding what to make next!
So many pretty stitches! Have fun:@)
Enjoy it my dear :)
Sweet sewing mat with cute pin cushion x
Oh, all those stitches look like so much fun! I like the little mat. How about placemats with the fun stitches.
Hi Miss Lavender Dreams,
I'm back.....did you miss me? Okay, it's time to give that little monkey the spotlight - let him come out of that tree so we can meet him.
Yup, you gotta make another monkey, he needs a brother. (o:
Hugs,
Prudence ♥
congrats! i always tell myself during the hot, penned-inside summer, i'll draw more. but truthfully, when i get warm it is hard to keep my hand on the paper without warping it! :)
So many stitches to enjoy, I would also have trouble thinking of what to make next. Happy sewing! xx
Ohhh...lots of pretty stitches! Have fun with it. I am sorry that Bernie is acting up, though. That's what always happens to me with the car. Never acts up for John or rarely.
Love that little mat! I vote prairie doll, but I think a tote bag with all those different stitches would be really nice. I'm not missing the Florida heat and humidity, but I miss everything else. Your blog gives me a taste of home. I've finally blogged. Perhaps it IS a cold day in June in FL? Ann
Well , I see a scissors mat in my future!!
Well you're sure having a lot of fun with it!
Brenda
A new sewing machine! Diane, lucky you ;-)
All those stitches look real fun. Your scissors are lucky to have such a unique mat.
I can wait to see all the things you will create with your new sewing machine. By the way, about your prairie doll, here is link you might like to check: https://www.flickr.com/photos/29184580@N04/sets/72157623903215816/
Take care,

Happy June to you, and congrats on your new sewing machine. Can't wait to see what you're going to make next!
A new sewing machine is always fun, Diane. I was just thinking this morning about dragging mine out. xo Laura
Diane, it's me again. Here is a link for doll's hair. I hope it is useful to you: http://charmingsbycmh.blogspot.fr/2010/08/prim-raggedy-ann-hair-tutorial.html
Diane...brother is a great brand of sewing machines. My huge embroidery machine is a brother...but my sewing machine is a Pfaff. I got it from the sewing shop that I used to work at. Sometimes I miss working there...it was so fun to teach classes. I love the little mat that you made for your scissors and am thinking I need to make me one. Can't wait to see what you make next.
hugs,
Cindy
So glad you are back to the sewing machine! I have been looking at boxes and boxes of fabric at my Mom's house and have thought of all my sewing friends!
hugs,
Linda
Congratulations on the new machine! Love your sweet little mat--"sew" many fun stitches! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Enjoy!

Hi Diane,
How wonderful to have a new sewing machine and isn't it frustrating when they play up.
Love the little mat with the fancy stitches.
Happy new week
hugs
Carolyn
Fun! I like how you did the mat, and it shows all the decorative stitches.
Have fun!
Oh- How wonderful. I always LOVED getting a new sewing machine. I have had this one for almost 15 years and it has been a real work horse.
I hear that Brother makes a really good machine and I know you will love using it! xo Diana
Love your cute little mat with all the different stitches....a sampler mat! It is great that you have a new sewing machine to create with, Diane! Enjoy your week and happy sewing!

I can't wait to see what you make next! Have fun exploring your fancy machine!
Now that is what I call a happy day.
A new sewing machine and sewing anything is wonderful to me.
Woolie Love
Best of luck with your new sewing machine. Isn't it fun to have something new to play with? I know you will make lots of fun things with it. Xo
I like that little mat you made for your scissors and stuff. That's a great idea. And, a fun way to play with the decorative stitches.
The majority of sewing that my daughter and I do seems to be in the summer time too. It's a perfect activity for hot days. :-)
Happy sewing!
You are so smart to find something "inside" to do when we must deal with Florida's summer temperatures. I rushed my gardening chores in May because I know I'm not going to stay outside very long in the heat and, alternately, rain this time of year. Looks as if our summer rains have started in my area. Enjoy your wonderful new machine!
Namemate! We have an idle electric sewing machine at home too. I learned how to use one during my elementary years. Unfortunately today, everything remains as a memory. Haha
I know, the machine will bring our creative ideas come to life from you. The dolls will have new set of clothes, your home will have new decors and your handmade bag collection would increase too.
Have a great week!
