Hot summer days?

I have a cure!

A new sewing machine!

When it’s too hot outside, I can SEW!

IMG_4820

I still have my Bernina and I’m sure I always will, but it started ‘acting up’ awhile back so I finally got a new one. I had the Bernina serviced but of course it didn’t ‘act up’ for the service tech! Isn’t that the way it always is?

So I’m having fun with a new Brother and so far it’s been easy to learn and use.

I made a little mat using decorative stitches for my scissors.

And I’ve made one cosmetic bag with a zipper. Now what? I sat down and looked at Pinterest for about 2 hours trying to decide what to make next. A tote bag? A prairie doll? How about another monkey? hahaha! What should I make next?

I’m joining Diane for Beautiful Sunday.

Happy June!

Spring is getting warmer.. we are coming into warm summer days here now.

I was given as a present a cloth shoulder bag.. its really beautiful.. The material , has birds sitting on rose flowered twigs and little roses doted around .. just an idea for you. very handy, when going shopping.
Beninas are good sewing machines..as are brother.
looks like you can use it with your eyes closed.

Beautiful sewing machine. I use a Bernina bottom of the line one and I still do. It know how to use all of its features. Right now I am sewing dresses for my mom's turn of the century dolls (20 th). I'd like to see your prairie doll.,not not here . Looks like we could have rain.

Looks like you will be having some good times sewing. I get stuck at the Pinterest stage of most projects. Fun to see what others have made! Linda@Wetcreek Blog

That looks very fun and sophisticated to me. I guess you have to read the instructions which would leave me out. :) How about a tote bag for all of your adventures?

Hi Miss Lavender Dreams,

I'm back.....did you miss me? Okay, it's time to give that little monkey the spotlight - let him come out of that tree so we can meet him.

Yup, you gotta make another monkey, he needs a brother. (o:

Prudence ♥

congrats! i always tell myself during the hot, penned-inside summer, i'll draw more. but truthfully, when i get warm it is hard to keep my hand on the paper without warping it! :)

So many stitches to enjoy, I would also have trouble thinking of what to make next. Happy sewing! xx

Ohhh...lots of pretty stitches! Have fun with it. I am sorry that Bernie is acting up, though. That's what always happens to me with the car. Never acts up for John or rarely.

Love that little mat! I vote prairie doll, but I think a tote bag with all those different stitches would be really nice. I'm not missing the Florida heat and humidity, but I miss everything else. Your blog gives me a taste of home. I've finally blogged. Perhaps it IS a cold day in June in FL? Ann

A new sewing machine! Diane, lucky you ;-)
All those stitches look real fun. Your scissors are lucky to have such a unique mat.
I can wait to see all the things you will create with your new sewing machine. By the way, about your prairie doll, here is link you might like to check: https://www.flickr.com/photos/29184580@N04/sets/72157623903215816/

Diane...brother is a great brand of sewing machines. My huge embroidery machine is a brother...but my sewing machine is a Pfaff. I got it from the sewing shop that I used to work at. Sometimes I miss working there...it was so fun to teach classes. I love the little mat that you made for your scissors and am thinking I need to make me one. Can't wait to see what you make next.
hugs,
Cindy

I like that little mat you made for your scissors and stuff. That's a great idea. And, a fun way to play with the decorative stitches.

The majority of sewing that my daughter and I do seems to be in the summer time too. It's a perfect activity for hot days. :-)

Happy sewing!

You are so smart to find something "inside" to do when we must deal with Florida's summer temperatures. I rushed my gardening chores in May because I know I'm not going to stay outside very long in the heat and, alternately, rain this time of year. Looks as if our summer rains have started in my area. Enjoy your wonderful new machine!

Namemate! We have an idle electric sewing machine at home too. I learned how to use one during my elementary years. Unfortunately today, everything remains as a memory. Haha

I know, the machine will bring our creative ideas come to life from you. The dolls will have new set of clothes, your home will have new decors and your handmade bag collection would increase too.

Have a great week!
