I am joining in Sunday favorites with this post from last year. I don't think it will happen again so here it is for those who didn't see it, and for those who will enjoy it again this year! Happy holidays! Click on the photo below to go to more Sunday favorites!
We decorate a little differently here in Florida!
The weather is mild and it seems like everyone goes all out!
And some decorations seem so REAL!!!
WAIT.....
HE IS REAL! heehee!!!
I saw this Great Egret next door, ran out with my camera
and watched him walk from house to house
posing along the way...
until he FLEW!
And here is a glimpse of our Lavender Cottage....
my hubby will probably do more outside but this is a start.
He got a new flag today and that looks nice!
Have you ever seen anything a bit unusual in outdoor holiday decorations? What do you like best?

I don't think I have ever been in Florida around the holidays - maybe for Thanksgiving. It is interesting to get a glimpse of life there this time of year. If my son and his wife move there next year, maybe I'll have a different story to tell! Merry Christmas!! I enjoyed the dolls too!
WOW!I've always admired those cottages in the American tv series!
All look a bit summery overthere!
Diane...The outside of your new winter home, looks as pretty as the inside!...but I just knew it would! I love your entrance way! That little birdie was beautiful, and I really did think he was fake when I first saw him!...Wishing you more holiday fun!!! Thanks so much for your sweet birthday wishes!!! Hugs, =D xoxo
I saw the bird! We have had big birds land at our pond...of course they are not quite as welcomed there.
Your neighborhood is so pretty. It seems like cold would be required for it to feel really Christmasey...obviously not!
Love your decorations ... & the walking decoration is cute as can be.
When we visited FL a few years ago it looked odd seeing all the decorations on an 80 degree day ... when we lived in Hawaii it was never really seasonal during the holidays because of the heat.
Merry Christmas, TTFN~ Marydon
Your cottage looks lovely! I love the pics of the egret, of course we don't see any of those over here though! Last year we saw some outdoor christams lights which said Bah Humbug! So funny! I like twinkly white fairy lights though! Suzie. xxx
I'm loving learning about your christmas in US!
Looks fab!
Hugs x x x
I hope your guest room is vacant, I'm on my way. I wish...heheheh
Your cottage is just so cozy and homey and I love it. Love your front porch lattern too.
Wow, that was such a great site to find with the egret. How cool was that. Do you suppose he was trying to find where he fit in with all the different decor?
The Egret looks right at home wandering around. That is a neat photo.
Your decorations are pretty! Reminds me to get busy and work on the mini tree decorations for our doorstep.
Ok, so it's location, location, location....I've tried several times this year at the catfish farms to get a photo you just walked outside for...geeze!
Hi Diane,
I love all the decorations around your home.
The Egret is a lovely bird ( I have not seen one before) and looked so much like a statue ~ that was fun.
Happy weekend
Hugs

WOW! I would have been struck dumb by that sight. I thought it was an artificial bird. Your home is really pretty!

How fun to see your home close up. I've never actually thought of Christmas in Florida. We are so used to snow and winter conditions it's interesting to think how it would be in a warm climate. Tee hee, I saw the bird smile for the camera!
LOL! How funny! Looked just like a typical decoration!
Your home looks beautiful. Your neighborhood looks so green and pretty. Looks like spring there! So...is Santa pulled by eight tiny pink flamingos down there? LOL! ~~Annie
Christmas in Florida seems to be the perfect setting for the Great Egret!
I was in Sanibel, Florida in January a few years ago. All I saw was after Christmas sales.
My decorating is all about trees. I have over 50 of them I put up every year. I am putting up the family tree this afternoon.
It is fun to see all the different ways people decorate and celebrate the Holidays.
Love your "Holiday" blog.
Sherry
That was great, I wouldn't have noticed, it was real either.
such beautiful decorations, I hadn't even spotted the bird until you said! What fun, Catherine x
Oh my goodness!! We have egrets here but never near the residential areas. I would have been chasing him with my camera too! LOL
I saw a Santa in swimming trunks with a Penguin with sunglasses the other night when we out looking at Christmas lights. LOL
OMG!It is REAL! I thought it was part of the decor :)
LOL We have a family of tall Sandhill Cranes who tour the neighborhood. Nice capture on your camera!
What a fun post! I wouldn't have spotted him as real until he moved. To cute.
Hi Diane...
Ohhh my goodness...when I looked at the first photo...I wondered it that was a real bird...and then...the second photo and I knew! Hehe! That is just too cute...and only in Florida! Thanks for sharing the photos of the Egret...sooo awesome! Well my dear, your lavender cottage looked gorgeous all dressed up and ready for Christmas! I love all the pretty wreaths and how you did your light pole! Thank you so much for sharing them with us for Sunday Favorites this week!
Sending you and your family warmest Christmas wishes!
Merry Christmas...Love ya,
Chari @Happy To Design
Fun post and good catches with the camera! Have a nice (hopefully warm) Christmas!
If you had WANTED that Egret as part of your decor, he would NEVER have landed! It's those little surprises that mean so much!
He is beautiful.
I had a real giggle from the egret. He looked for all the world like a lawn ornament :-). Have a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary
OH that Egret truly is the best Christmas decor ever!!
Merry Christmas to you!!

All that is outside is snow and more is expected!
