How about a drive to the coast?

We drove to the Gulf coast to eat Almond encrusted Grouper today

DSCN4887

and see what birds we could see!

DSCN4893

Driving to Peck's we saw an Eagle but I couldn't get a photo of it. What a majestic bird....our best sighting of the day! Oh, and do you think we should buy this' fixer upper' and rent rooms?

DSCN4905

Do you want to get signed up to stay on the coast this summer? heehee! (I am JUST kidding! EEEEE!!!)

This is an Ibis...probably a young one...

DSCN4891

And this is a swallow tail Kite. It's a large bird and exciting to see!

DSCN4902

It soared above us....

DSCN4903

We stopped to get gas and saw this boat...scary? heeheehee!

DSCN4908

And then this large turtle was going right into traffic!

DSCN4911

We were still in the parking lot of the service station so I grabbed my camera! ( I have no idea if I would have been brave enough to grab this big turtle)

DSCN4912

but this lady jumped out and picked him up off the busy highway before I had a chance to figure out what to do! His legs were kicking like crazy!

DSCN4911

We stopped at the canal on our way back and saw a big beautiful Osprey.

DSCN4930

Then it was a quick stop in Dunellon at my favorite antique store to buy some MORE soap and a couple of hand made bracelets that I haven't taken photos of yet.

DSCN4935

This photo has a glare from my side window. We are driving down the highway at 60 mph. We can't stop to take every beautiful sight I see! lol Hope you've had a wonderful day! It was 80 degrees here.... and the sky was bright blue! Glorious!

And now to add to my post...

My girlfriend Theresa at Faerie Moon Creations wrote a beautiful post today and she mentioned a blogger that makes gorgeous jewelry out of the shells she finds here in Florida. I really fell in love with her jewelry and thought you might like to see what she's made in her shop.

Her blog is HERE and her ETSY shop is Orange Blossom Boutique !  I know you will love her jewelry!

It's always fun to have some pretty new jewelry for Spring! Let's go shopping!!!

I am so glad the kind lady rescued the turtle. I think the fixer upper looks like a must buy for someone, it looks kind of nice and right on the water. Shall we go in together and buy it for a vacation home? Just kiddin'.

I'm so happy the turtle was rescued!

And yes, please book me a couple of rooms in that fixer....we'll be right down! Actually I bet someone might just snap that up....it's definitely right on the water and it looks huge.

Looks as if you had a wonderful "birding" day. Thank goodness the turtle was saved....I do love them so very much. The Kite is a wonderful bird. Birds in flight are fun to photograph!
Happy Spring.
We also are having lovely temperatures. I am enjoying these early Spring days.

What a lovely tour Diane! You're such a great tour guide! Such beautiful birds and I probably would have beat that lady in a rush to rescue the turtle (I'm always rescuing animals!) Thanks for the links! Have a great Sunday! xoxo Paulette ... PS sign me up for a stay at your future bed and breakfast...but only if you take me on one of your tours! ;)

My Lavender Dreamer is turning me into a Florida Dreamer. I love the run down house...what a shame! The lives that have come and gone from it's doors...I'd be the nut to buy it and turn it into a GNOME BED and BREAKFAST...Your area needs one!

I wonder if that turtle was headed to my house? I've been hoping for a turtle to come to my pond. I've had frogs, but no turtles. That place looks pretty decrepit, but who knows???

Poor lil turtle, glad someone rescued him. I remember when my kids would make me stop and pick them up and bring them home :)

I love your trips and how you take us with you on your adventures. The run down house may have been from all those hurricanes we had in 05. Not quite the yellow cottage I'm looking for or I would be right there. Amazing how many people want to visit as soon as I find it :) After this winter (and I'm a lot further south than you are), I definitely have to have a 'real' furnace in that yellow cottage. Blessings, Janet

Looks like you had a fun day at the coast... ocean birds and turtles. And even a decrepit mansion! Looks like it was once a spectacular place. If someone has to have 80 degrees and blue skies, I am glad it is you!

I love the turtle story.
The old fixer upper reminds me of this great old home that was at one of the lagoons in Kona Hawaii. We lived there for many years and that old homestead was an object of my immagination. I always wanted to buy it and return it to its orriginal state. Great photos,
I have extended the sign up date at my blog for the Good eggs Giveaway, so pass on the info,

It looks like you had a LOVELY day! Don't let my hubby see that fixer upper, he'd want it for sure. Because nothing says fun like a crowbar.

How I love travel posts! This one was simply great! I loved the turtle one...thank heavens she stopped him from getting squashed. That would have been horrible.
Will check in on the jewelry but I am really into silver and have been for along time. I am sooo short that I tend to just look like I am going to a costume ball! :)
