The Horse Capital of the World “Mosaic Monday”

I live in the Horse Capital of the World

and we see horses whenever we are out and about!

These live on the other side of the fence from the Park!

SParkHorses-1

I made little kissy sounds to get them to come to the fence...

They make walking at the Park a JOY!

And since I’ve been in the mood to read a Western,

I picked up this book from the library!

“The Hearts of Horses”

by Molly Gloss

DSCN1400

It is about a young woman who is a broncbuster

working on a ranch nearly 100 years ago!

It’s about horses...and a strong character

named Martha Lessen! OUTSTANDING!

I would HIGHLY recommend it as an enjoyable book

and a very easy read!

I’m linking with Mary at the dear little red house

for Mosaic Monday!

I hope your Monday is joyful!  heart

I have always loved horses. Always wanted on for my birthday growing up, but it never happened. Great shots.

Such gorgeous animals... It's probably a good thing you didn't come to the wine fest... it was freezing!

I was horse crazy when I was a girl, and spent every penny of my baby-sitting money on riding lessons. I never owned a horse, and it's probably a good thing, as there are enough animals around here!
You live in a beautiful part of the world!

Lucky you to have horses near by. I'd be stalking them with my camera every day as I did a lot of riding as a teenager and appreciate their beauty.

What wonderful pictures. How great is that to get to see horses everywhere? I would have my camera out all of the time!

Hi Diane!
Stopping by tonight to read back and back at all the post I've missed. It's Valentines Eve and I just want to say that I've sent Cupid your way. He was hanging out on my front porch eating chocolate covered raisens and I told him to scoot to your house, clear across the nation and do some good! Spread some love your way.
Thinking of you tonight.

I have to admit that I never knew the Horse Capital of the World was here in Florida, how cool is that?

When I travel from Tampa to Jacksonville, I always exit off the 75 to take the 301, I see so many horse farms. I love taking the back roads, rather than the interstates, so much more to see and enjoy.

Happy Valentine's Day

Pretty horses! Equally strong and beautiful looking.

Such nice photos. I think a horse is about the most graceful and beautiful animal there is. But I've only ridden one once. :-(

Loved your mosaics of the horses and I can't think of any better place to enjoy a walk. BTW, have you seen the movie Secretariet. I think you would enjoy it and if you have on demand TV you can get it. I watched it just last night and have several times. I have a love of horses too and remember this one well.

Sounds like a good book, I will have to check it out. Have you seen Secretariat yet? Horses never liked me much...lol So I was always afraid of them. I guess they can sense it. Happy Valentines Day!

I love horses. You must live in Central Florida...near Ocala? I know there are so many beautiful horse farms around there.

Cindy Adkins said...

What beautiful horses! I was thinking that you are near Ocala too! But, then when I scrolled down your page, I saw that you are in Gainesville...I'm not sure where that is...When we go to Florida, it's usually to Panama City to the beach there--so beautiful.

I hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day!!!

My daughter is here visiting and I'm so excited--this is so awesome. She lives in Atlanta, which is 10 hours from here, so this is such a treat.

Sending (((hugs)) your way,
Cindy

By the way did you get email about the book you were possibly interested in?

I just love Ocala. You have some great antique stores there too. I've seen so many on I75 and have never stopped. You'll have to share a few favorites with me. Loving this gorgeous weather.

Holy crap, you live in Ocala? I'm from there! Well, Salt Springs/Orange Springs/Ft. McCoy! I live in Lakeland now, but was born in Ocala & lived in the area until I was 17! I miss it!
