Or...how to make a wristlet at home in 9 easy steps!
1. Go to ETSY, search ‘wristlet’ and look at 24,995 items for sale.
2. Find one you like, and that you can afford and order one.
3. Decide to break down and get a pattern.
4. THINK about how hard it is to put in a zipper. (Remember Home Ec)
5. Shoplift some zippers from Walmart.
6. Realize your zippers were tucked inside the bundle of fabric and you didn’t pay for them.
5. GO BACK TO WALMART and pay for them! (YES, it shocks the lady in Customer Service but that’s half the fun!)
6. SEW SEW SEW!
7. Give yourself a PAT on the back!
8. Take your new wristlet on your arm, stylishly... to buy MORE fabric...and MORE zippers!
9. HAVE FUN!!!
I’m joining Kim at Savvy Southern for WOW!
So what do you think? Do I get an “A” for putting in a zipper?
Did you take Home Ec? What was the hardest thing for you?

You get an A++. Zippers are so tricky...go girl!!!
OMGosh, those are darling! You get an A to the 10 power for the zipper conquest! (And extra credit for going back and paying for your inadventent shoplifting, LOL.)
I must give you an A-plus because I do not sew! Trip sews on all the buttons around here, but I figure since he can do stitches, he can sew, LOL!
The wristlets are too, too cute! :D
Yes, you get an A+ for putting in the zipper!! Great job...these are very pretty. My hardest thing in Home Ec was getting along with my teacher...she wanted it done one way and I had been sewing since I was 11 hrs old and was used to my way of doing things. My wise mother told me to do it the teacher's way in class and then go back to my way when the class was all finished.

Those are wonderful! Yes, you get an A for sure. I did take home ec in 8th grade. Zippers, interfacing and waistbands did me in....
Hugs,
Penny
p.s. come see my post about how I am going to try to sew pinch pleat curtains - what am I thinking?????lol
You get an A+ and I love that material you used. Have a fun week!
Hi Diane...
Yes mam'...you certainly do get an "A" for your zipper and beautiful wristlet!!! Ohhh...what fun! I especially like the green floral fabric with the pretty little bird....simply gorgeous, my friend! Thanks for sharing your pretties with us today!
You know, I did take Home Ec in Jr. High and just loved that class. They did teach me how to put in a zipper and I used the technique sooo many times while sewing clothes for my three daughters. I must admit though...putting in a zipper is NOT one of my most favorite things to do! Hehe! Well dear friend, I just wanted to stop by to say Hi and see how you were doing. It has been awhile since we have visited since I took a bit of a blogging break. I sure did enjoy my daughter and grands though! Hope that my little note finds you and your family all doing well!
Warmest spring wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
These are great! I'm not sure I could sew a zipper in. You get an A+

Colleen

Lynda
Definitely an A! This is so innovative.
This may require an intricate ability to create this. So yes, an A for you!
I'll give you an A++ for not only conquering the zipper, but for going back to Walmart and shocking the customer service person!
I loved Home-Ec! It was my favorite class.
Oh Sweetie...
I would give you a BIG "E" for Excellent. These are just exquisite. I haven't put in a zipper in such a long time.
I love the wristlet that has the little birds on it. How absolutely delightful. You chose beautiful fabrics sweet friend. So very stylish and fun.
Have a wonderful evening. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
You get a big A for sewing in a zipper. I haven't done that in YEARS. I don't think my turquoise a-lined skirt in 8th grade Home Ec
got a passing grade. You get an even bigger A for going all the way back to the store.
You sure do get an A+! Your green floral wristlets are cute! I did take Home Ec, but my mom was the gal who taught me how to sew. My Janome needs to get busy making a wristlet! :)
~Judy
great one for wordless... Happy WW! I hope to see you around @ my little world.
Yes, ma'am! You do get an A! These are so cute and you did a great job!! I loved Home Ec but my mother always finished my sewing project for me! ;) My bad!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You get an "A" from me! Those are just the cutest thing. I thought yhe "Lazy Girl Wallets" that I make were cute, until I saw these. You did a great job on your zippers, too. Wanda in Edmonton
You get an A for driving back to pay for the zippers! And for the beautiful work you did on the wristlets!
Definitely an A plus! Those are so cute. And you are so funny! I have done that same thing with thread - absentmindedly put in my pocket while shopping!
Yes! Absolutely. Those wristlets are adorable.
The whole post gets an A+ and you get several gold stars for the correcting the brain blip correction. I call it my ahlsheimer moment, but I'm 50 now and sadly they happen more frequently..LOL..not with the biggy things..just the nitpicky little annoying stuff. Love your fabrics and your bravery with the zipper. they are my nightmare..no really...the coil like springs...all the teeth...the sipper pull flaps away.(shudder)
I'm so happy I found Wow Us Wed. Your post certainly Wowed me!
Wow! You are sewing aren't you? These are adorable. And you get an extra A for the extra effort!
You are so funny! Thanks for the smile this morning, the wristlets are so pretty! A+++!
I hate sewing and our needlework teacher despaired with me at school. However I did well in Home Economics which in the UK is what we called cooking classes at school.
You not only get an A+++, you also get a Gold Star!
These are so adorable, I have a passion for small purses. Now I want to go out and get fabric and try my hand at one, or two, or more!
Where did you find your pattern?
Now you let me know if you give those bags a try, we may just have to do some good ol' fashioned bartering!
Hugs to you my dear friend. You're going to have to get together with us when we do one of our blogger gatherings! It is SO much fun!
I didn't know you were so crafty!!! A+ for honesty, zippers and letting us know about wristlets!!!
great job. No Home Ec for me. wish I had though. I was not mature enough emotionally to see the worth in it. I have taught myself alot since married life and four boys made it economically wise to learn how to do stuff on my own like sew and cook
KAT
Great job, both in making such gorgeous wristlets.
AND, A + for going back to pay for what you had forgotten.
More of us should be like that. After working in retail forever, I totally understand how that impacts their bottom line. And besides it's the right thing to do.
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Wow! I love your wristlets!!!!
You do get an "A" in Home Ec....and I remember that at least some of the time, we sat together in that class!!!
WOW!! Great job!! Zippers always scare me:) Maybe I should give them a whirl!
Pretty! Love the bird pattern. You definitely get an 'A'... i can hardly get a zipper to zip, much less install one...
I'd give you an A+ for creativity, for conquering the zipper and for such a cute post!
Kathy
A+, for sure. I DID take Home Ec. and zippers were, by far, the hardest thing for me. Never did learn to do it, either. :))
Yep! You definitely get an A+ from me. Yes, I took Home Ec, and yes, zippers were so hard for me that I never attempted it again! You also get an A+ for going back to pay for the zippers. Your wristlets are so pretty. Love the fabrics you picked. laurie
You get an A++ from me and I totally forgot about hte wrist pin cushions..I will have to get busy and start making a few. Love the cute idea about the zippers..Not sure if I could get away with it though and that would spoil all the fun :)
Oh yes, you get an A plus!!!
XO
Cindy
You do get an A+, and I have always loved putting in zippers.
Micki
These are great! Nope, I haven't tried the zipper yet. I have a few in my drawer, but haven't gotten over my fears of trying one. LOL! Now I am inspired.
Oh so cute! Why is my sewing machine always in the ATTIC????? argh!
...an A+ I would say...
A ++++
I hope you have a great Mother's Day! I am back from Calgary, Canada, where I had a wonderful time with my older son while he was on a business trip there. Looking forward to spending Mother's Day weekend with my hubby, younger son, and Sadie---our little Maltese. I wish you very wonderful Mother's Day weekend surrounded by all the people and things you love! xoxo Kim
LOL...I knew you had a little darlic in you:)(the shoplifting part) I have done that same thing with something else, and I was with Jack and we marched back into the store. I thought it would show him a good example:)
I love wristlets, I have a thing for them myself. Not much into carrying big handbags. Cute cute cute Diane!
LOL ... I went to Wally and picked up a shoulder bag and a few other items and ... yup walked out with it still over my shoulder and unpaid for ...and they were just as surprised when I went back in to pay for it :))
love your wristlets !

Hi Diane,
WOW yes, you get an A++++!!
What darling creations. Zippers are not easy to do and these are darling wristlits. I love to carry these for quick trips and shopping.
Hope you have a special Mother's Day.
Hugs from Texas, Celestina Marie
Ohhh so pretty!!! :) Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the incredibly sweet comment. I loved looking through your beautiful creations :)
Haven't attempted a zipper...still too scary :)
I just tried putting in an elastic waistband for the first time and nearly fainted....haha! Not really, but need to be extra motivated to try things like that....this venture was for a skirt I wanted to make for my daughter's birthday outfit. It needed to be done!
:D
I adore that cute owl fabric! Precious!
I give you A++. They are beautiful and I would definetely buy one. Please let me know when you get you're Etsy set up.
I must have been living under a large rock because I have not seen these before! Well maybe I have but I didn't know they had a name! I love the fabrics you chose . . . you get an A+++!
